I bought a yellow one a year ago. I was interested in a lightweight shorter scale guitar as I mostly play Fenders, and also something I could work on and not worry about ruining. Out of the box it was OK, but it soon needed adjustments. The set bridge wasn't able to hold the tuning up to what my ears are used to, so I replaced it with a tunomatic bridge - this required plugging the holes of the old bridge with dowels and drilling new holes. While I was at it, I put on a surface mounted tremolo - both of these parts I got from a well-known internet discount supplier. So it worked OK for a while and then the tuners started slipping, so I replaced them with a set from the same place. Next, I found I was scratching the surface with my pick strumming so I bought a cheap black pickguard and cut it to fit. Then I repositioned the pickup switch, which my right hand was knocking off and on, so that it moves horizontally. Now the yellow guitar was working pretty good, but about 6 months later it got sloppy again and I had to adjust the truss rod and redo the intonation. But I couldn't get it exactly right so I took it to Shawn the guitar pro and he set it right! This guitar is very light, stays in perfect tune, looks great and the P90 pickups give it a unique sound compared to my other guitars. I do most of my practicing with it and have brought it on a few gigs. For just over double my initial investment I got some experience and a worthy instrument.

Overall a pretty decent guitar for the price. I was however, dissapointed that the body of the guitar is basswood with very very thin mahogany veneer on front and back. It is also very light. It also has some high frets @ 12-14th that will need leveling off to get better action. The pickups sound good to me and the guitar seems to have pretty good sustain. I'm satisfied with the guitar and really like the TV yellow finish.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

For this low price, you can't beat this guitar. The P90's give this guitar that great bassy growl on the low end. Nice treble too. Adjusting the tone knob to get the right balance is a bit tricky, but attainable. Action was a hair high, but very playable. The bridge is cheap, but you get what you pay for. Adjusting intonation is very general, but the guitar I received was so close, it wasn't an issue. Even if you're unsatisfied, which you won't be, there will be no problem getting what you paid for it!!!!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

I ordered one of those Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 guitars Monday, June 1st. It came today, June 4th and I have to say that I am beyond blown away. Straight out of the box the action is super low and the intonation is absolutely dead on. It isn't "pretty close" or "very close" - it is perfect. The volume and tone controls are useable throughout their entire sweep - not loaded more toward one end or the other. There is no fret buzz. It plays well from one end of the fretboard or the other. There are no high frets. It has the worn cherry finish and there isn't a scratch, ding or mark on it from manufacturing or shipping.

How Epiphone made this thing and sold it for the price I paid is beyond my comprehension. I have several guitars and this thing's playability beats everything I have, hands down. There is no comparison, even on the ones I have worked on and set up myself.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

I bought this because I wanted to play around with P-90's. I had intended to swap out the stock pups, but they came out sounding good right out of the box. This is the sound I was looking for. The guitar's finish is matte, including the neck. This makes for a faster playing neck, in my opinion. The frets do need filed as they stick out slightly over the fret board. There are no issues with high or low frets though. Minimal setup was needed (personal preference) such as adjusting the bridge height just a bit. Overall, for the money, you can't go wrong with this purchase. It is what is, plus a little more. Nice value.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

I have been wanting to add a P90 guitar to my collection for some time now so I could cover certain sounds/tones that aren't easy to get with the standard Strat, Tele, or humbucker equiped guitars. Since it is covering a niche sound for me I wasn't crazy about spending a lot of money. I'm completely happy with my Les Paul and Charvel San Dimas being my main instruments so a P90 style guitar would only be used on occasion. When I spotted this Epiphone at such a cheap price I had to at least check it out. Wow! This thing is a great piece of work for that price and a bargain for any beginner or seasoned player alike. The construction and finish are great, and the electronics are better than what I expected. No need to replace or upgrade anything. Believe it or not I unpacked it, tuned it, plugged it in and started playing. The setup was great out of the box! If you want a P90 sound you really can't go wrong with this model. I am completely amazed by the quality at this price point! What a bargain!
