For the money, the Les Paul Special II is quite possibly the most tempting Les Paul ever made for the Left handed guitarist. However, most experienced players are probably wondering? what am I getting into, here, buying one of these budget versions of a classic? Well, for starters, you are getting phenomenal tone, worthy of the Les Paul name. Yes, I have had mine for almost four years now and have played along with other musicians using far more expensive top of the line guitars? and I never fail to get complements on the tones I get out of this instrument. From smooth clean, to heavy distortion, the two 2 humbucking pickups give you tremendous flexibility and perhaps the best Les Paul sound you will ever find for a guitar is this price range. These are the pros. Here are the cons: Inexpensive instruments = inexpensive parts. Out of the box, my guitar sounded great and the comfortable low action set up was more then adequate to keep me content. However, with time, this guitar will reveal and keep you reminded that it is an inexpensive guitar. The inside electronics will require maintenance at some point, and possibly an eventual replacement, as they become loose and produce bad static noise with time (I see I am not the only one with this problem). The machine heads, knobs, and cheap plastic jackplate you also want to eventually replace or upgrade. However, these are relatively inexpensive fixes (plus the warranty covers a lot). If you are willing to accept that this guitar will require some fix ups down the road, with this price I?d say you are still getting quite an amazing instrument. Oh, and did I mention the guitar simply looks awesome? Despite the cons, this guitar will give you the Les sound without the expected Les price tag. It's not perfect, but you won?t be braking the bank here either. For the beginner, or budget minded like myself, there is very much to like about the Les Paul Special II. And for the left-handed player, even more!!!

Was my first humbucker guitar. Bought it in 1997. Replaced the pickups(in 1998 and 2004) with DiMarzios (Super DistortionII-bridge,PAF Pro-neck). Still sounds nice and ratty through my Marshall but the stock tuners are junk, the nut is cracked, chipped and all knobs and hardware/pots have come loose one time or the other. Its been plastered in stickers and later, stripped. Its now my "4th" guitar(which for a hobbyist, means I play it maybe twice a year). I'll keep it forever though. There are better value left-handed beginner guitars, so I would pass it up and save up and buy something with better hardware and build quality(Epiphone G-400/Ibanez/LTD, Scheckter, etc.)

Let me start off with this is NOT a Gibson so I'm going to try not to compare it to a Gibson Les Paul. I don't think it's fair to compare a $1K plus guitar to a 2 hundred buk guitar. I bought this guitar mainly to practice with while on a 6 month deployment from home. This guitar is the perfect candidate for my use. I also want to use this guitar as my test subject for doing my own setup.
I bought a used version from musicians friend for like 1 fifty. It came in a sealed box with a quality assurance seal intact. After unboxing it I examined it and found some cosmetic defects that were in the description when I bought it. I attribute it to a lower cost finish that chipped off when it was knocked over at one point. The guitar feels good in my hands. It seems to have good sustain for a lower end guitar.
The only thing I would suggest is to get this guitar set up by a professional. Mine came all out of wack it had a really hi action out of the box. I would recommend this guitar to someone who is on a budget because I believe with the right setup and tlc this guitar can run with any guitar in its class!

We Lefties are to often left out in the goldrush of budget guitars built in Asia. Kudos to Epiphone and MF for this offering. Les Paul tone and vibe for less than 2 large is a wonderful thing. The red and yellow burst would not be my first choice and the tuners will need upgrading. A little lube on the gears may help that. Thanks to all invoved in delivering this deal!!

I am a musician that has been playing Ephiphones since the early 90's. I have two strats, one les paul, and just got my eph.. SG.. I bought this guitar for [$] used with the neck pickup falling out.. It is by far my fav.. As soon as I get some more money I plan to get on here and order another new one.. the bridge pickup is amazing and the neck is nice and thin so you can move very fast. I couldn't believe the sound out of a guitar this cheep! I pride myself on spending money on quality and was saving for a Gibson.. (have always wanted one) but save your cash and buy one of these!! Couldn't ask for a better guitar! As for anyone reading this.. You prob know how hard it is to find a good lefty.. Ephiphone does it right! Plus this is by far my cheapest guitar and truly believe it is my best. When I walk out on stage it is the guitar I start with, and unless I break a string.. Its the one I end with.

This is a pretty good guitar. ALmost perfect, The Bridge Pickups is pretty hot but the neck pickup, PIECE OF CRAP. It is so muddy you can't get a tone out of it and when you slide it makes a tremolo sound a really fast tremolo while the bridge pickup doesn't, it stays in tune amzingly well. The tone knob is messed on 0 no hum on 1-10 so much feedback I do not know why

Great, rich tone..fun to mess around with the settings.Only thing I don't really like about the guitar is that the tuning pegs are on both sides of the head, and the control knobs can be bumped easily while strumming.I'd still recommend this guitar to anybody though.

This is a great beginners guitar. I have had it for a few months now and I am impressed with it, however you can tell that you are getting what you paid for. The pickups are not great, but overall a very good guitar.

I've had this guitar for almost a year now and it's served me well. Some features do fit the price tag. The pickups aren't that great, sustain is ok, but sound quality leaves a bit to be desired. The tuners are cheap, when you take the strings off they're very loose. I've modified mine so now it's a pretty killer guitar. I put in a set of Seymour-Duncans (duncan distortion bridge, duncan jazz neck) locking tuners, chrome jack plate, and I only use d'addario 10s. Granted for the same money you could buy a better Les Paul, but to me it was worth it. The finish on mine is fantastic which is what I love about Epiphone - even on their cheaper guitars, the quality of the finish is great.

This is a good first guitar for the price. The neck is pretty fast, but hard to access the upper frets. It also has very little sustain. The low A and E strings have bad fret buzz on arrival, so I suggest having a set-up done. The tuners are low quality: the guitar goes out of tune easily and takes alot of little adjustments to tune. The tone nob is very unreasponsive and cuts all treble out at about 3. All that being said, the guitar does have nice warm tone and plays pretty smoothly. Overall it's a good first guitar.

This is my first 1st guitar and I have been playing it for a couple of months and it not bad. It has been a good guitar to learn on. I have had some problems with keeping it in tune and the little E string does slip a little but other than that I have had no other problems with it.
