I am giving this guitar a 10, not because it's perfect per se, but because what you get for this price is amazing. This was the nicest Epiphone I've played, and was better than a lot of Gibson Studios I played. Obviously, this isn't the $1800 Gibson version, which is nicer than this guitar. But If this guitar had the gibson headstock on it, They'd be selling it for a lot more than this, trust me. If you're trying to decide between this and a cheap studio, or even a different Epiphone, let me make this easy. Buy this guitar. Plays great, beautiful neck (which is where the satin finish shines, it feels great!), pretty darn fine pickups, holds tuning extremely well, and on top of it, mine came with a hardshell case and strap locks. You just can't do any better than this in a guitar at this price point. Period.
A lot of things to like about this guitar in the way of features. Coil split is useful. When using only on pickup on coil split, there isn't a huge tone change, but if you use both 'buckers on coil split at once, you get a really nice Fender-y tone. As close to Fender single coils as you'll get with a mahogany body. All the nicer Epiphone parts, Grovers, etc. The Burstbucker bridge pickup is absolutely beautiful, I anticipated just throwing in an extra Seymour Duncan custom custom I had laying around, but honestly, I'll leave the burstbucker. Neck pickup is nice too, great for vintage Led Zeppelin, early Rush, Jethro Tull, all that kinda of stuff. Honestly, this guitar is a 70's machine to the max.
I was somewhat worried about ordering an Epiphone through the internet, but I can say that when I opened up the box, I was blown away. She feels awesome, if you hear anything about this guitar not having a maple cap, and that adversely affecting tone, don't sweat it. This guitar cuts through a mix better than my old LP Studio with a maple cap. Got the nice fingerboard binging, the satin finish is beautiful, and the guitar overall just feels VERY solid. Even the output jack is the most durable feeling output jack I've ever used.
Amazing value. Literally the best deal on any guitar that i've ever bought, or someone i knew bought. Buddy of mine plays a USA special strat, and offered to trade me. And I told him no way in heck. This thing's an amazing guitar for the money.

well the ups man dropped off my les paul pro today, I unpacked the guitar and right away I noticed that the packing was substandard. The strap locks fell off during shipping and did a number on the finish.Speaking of finish the neck had a flat smooth finish as stated in the description, what is doesnt tell you is that the whole back of the guitar has the same finish that looks like it was rolled on...UGLY.Now dont get me wrong I finished unpacking and pluged her in to my 1973 Traynor MK.III and gave her a good work out,the coil tap is a nice feature.. the factory set up was a joke.the finish of the front of the guitar had scratches but I must admit that she played perty nice and with a proper set up would be ok. value for the money...not even close.I packed her back up and sent it back the same day...IMO Epiphone make a good guitar. The pro might be right for you,its your call .....MF as always very helpfull, thanks

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
I'm really liking this new guitar, it's a great Les Paul for the price. I previously owned two Epiphone Standard LPs (each with different custom pickup arrangements) and loved them, but I'm enjoying the Traditional Pro more. Sounds great through my Fender amp, (hot rod blues jr III), but haven't tried it through anything else, or with any effects pedals. It sounds great clean, and great with amp gain.
I'm liking the pickups a lot, they produce a great sound, and the push/pull volume knobs really do add some great tone options. If I pull both volume knobs out, the guitar's clean sound becomes more neutral than your typical Les Paul, resembling (if only a little) a Fender strat. It's a nice sound option to have on a Les Paul, I get a great blues tone through my amp doing that.
And if you've ever had a guitar strap come off, you'll appreciate the straplocks this guitar comes with a lot.
(I got the Wine Red color, it's a little lighter than in the pictures but it's not at all a bad thing. I think it looks more brilliant in person, I really like it.)

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
I got this in Wine Red, and it looks very beautiful, although it doesn't look quite as dark as in the picture, but don't let that discourage you, it still looks like art. It is an Epiphone, so the binding isn't real, and if I look hard enough, I can see where the paint got onto what is supposed to be the binding, but ultimately it's no big deal, it still looks great. I suppose for the rest of the review, I'll be comparing the Les Paul to my previous guitar, a Schecter Damien Elite, which I really did like. I really like the bridge style on LPs, as opposed to string-throughs. Plus the actual bridge is of higher quality than the Schecter's. I guess I can give the Schecter credit, it had slightly better Grovers, 18:1 I think. These aren't bad, though; I wouldn't even bother changing them. LPs have a reputation for being heavy, but this isn't too far off from my Schecter, which wasn't that bad. The neck of this guitar isn't finished, which is fine, but my Schecter had some kind of satin finish or something, and I really liked it a little more. Speaking of the neck, I actually prefer the D-shape to the Schecter's C-shape, but that's probably because I play a lot of rhythm stuff and stay on the lower side of the neck, and it just feels better to me. Higher on the neck, though, it gets really tricky on the LP, which has been true since they were made, I'm sure. Onto the pickups: I got rid of my Schecter because it had EMGs in it, which made it play metal with ease, but they just didn't feel organic enough, and I could hardly distinguish different notes; everything sort of blended together, and not in a good way. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to squeeze enough out of these, that maybe they wouldn't be "hot" enough, but these sound great, and I can get the metal tone I need when I run it through the Metal M*** I ordered along with this (I couldn't type the name because it was "profane"). All in all, it plays great, looks great, arrived pretty much set-up, and it works for me.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
Got this latest guitar yesterday, and I think it's a steal. The build quality appears to be excellent. The neck shape is a bit thicker than my '56 Gold Top, and the pseudo "worn" finish on the back of the neck (just no lacquer) simply seems like a production money-saver to me. I'll wax and buff it to get a smoother surface. The pickups are fine, for what they are. And, the coil-splitting capability is nice. At some point I'll replace them with Seymour Duncans.
The set-up wasn't good, and the intonation is a mess. I can fix that today pretty quickly. And, that's one reason I wanted to write this review. I'm always sort of amused by people's complaints about poor set-up from the factory. What exactly did they expect? A factory is composed of workers who assemble things; they're not musicians. Set-up is something YOU do to create an instrument that complements your playing style. And, it's your responsibility to know enough about your guitar to be able to do that.
These Chinese-made guitars represent a tremendous value. Not terribly long ago, you couldn't find a guitar this well-made with these features for this ridiculously low price. They've transformed the guitar market. So buy one, modify it, play it and enjoy it. It's a bargain.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
Been playing for almost 20 years, and have gone through my share of equipment. Currently have 3 Gibsons,(LP, SG, & flying V) and a USA custom shop Peavey HP and play thru Peavey XXX amps. Bought mine used for less than half of a new one. It's a 2004 LP STD with the HOTCH pups from Korea. Stock pups aren't really that bad, but that touch of muddiness is there especially in the low end, but I wouldn't care if I wouldn't play out. My Gibson has Burstbucker pros and the Epi's aren't as hot and not quite as clear.
For the cost of a new Epi, I would probably go for a faded or used Gibson, but for the price these go for used, add new pups and I can't tell much of a difference in sound from my Gibson. If you can get over having the headstock say "Epiphone" and not "Gibson" and just use your ears, you will love it. Look at these at used prices and you can get a custom, or whatever great finish you like and up grade it for a lot less than getting a Gibson. Don't get me wrong I probably won't sell my Gibsons because of this, but will play it along side of them.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
This is my first guitar and I couldn't be happier. I was always a fan of the les Paul and with budget constraints this is the next best thing. The pickups are better than expected but it has some minor hiccups. It needs a setup out of the box and it has some fret buzz but can be fixed with a setup. I personally co pared with a genuine Gibson les Paul and it held its own, obviously not better but just as good and it was very surprising. All in all a great guitar for a beginner or novice player.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
The bottom line is that this guitar is simply excellent. I've been playing for about 20 years. I have owned guitars over the years ranging from $200-$2000. This guitar is a classic Epiphone...plays like butter.
With its low action, this guitar came ready to play out of the box. It looked perfect. I ordered the ebony model. Stunning. I also LOVE the fact that the back and neck are not a high gloss finish like the front...more of a "denim" look to it.
Switching from single coil to humbucker is a plus. I was toying with buying the $500 Fender Strat, but switching back and forth makes this guitar hard to beat.
Overall a great little Les Paul. Can't beat it for the money, particularly with the electronics that allow the humbucking/single-coil swap.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
I picked up this EPI Traditional Pro in Heritage Cherry because I retired my Gibson Les Paul 25/50. I met Les Paul at the Iridium Club back in 2003 and he signed the guitar for me. I hand delivered it to Gibson restoration in Nashville for an overspray of Les's personalization and she now resides in a solid cherry glass front display case and get's lots of looks but no play time.
The 25/50 was one of the few LP's to have coil tapping so when I saw that this LP Traditional Pro had coil taps too, I decided to give it a try. I've got many guitars (18 currently) but retiring the Gibson LP left a hole that nothing else seemed to fill.
I'm pleasantly surprised with this piece, for the money or otherwise. Certainly the price is right. I looked it over really well for everything from correctly installed and well fitting hardware, to proper finish and bindings. I really couldn't find anything objectionable. Everything was just as it should be for a mid-grade guitar.
Setup needs just a bit of work. The neck relief was fine, string height is very close to the EPI setup standards on both sides of the board, but many folks find this too high. I'm one of them, but just barely. The intonation was the only thing that was off noticably. Easy fix.
The tone is very nice with good rich sounds in HB mode. Tap the coils to single and they thin out nicely. Not quite the same as my American Standard Strat, but very nice cut for sure. More noticable difference on the neck pup than the bridge, but that's to be expected.
The neck is reasonably fast and the satin finish makes the ups and downs effortless. Overall, this guitar is lots of fun to play. I've been piping it through an old '68 Kustom 100W all tube lead head and it definitely contributes to the vintage vibe. I like this 'lil guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
I just started playing this year and this is my first electric. I shopped around a bit but was mostly looking at what features were available in my price range, since I don't have the experience or ear to really tell the difference in sound quality. For [$], this Epi really packs in a lot - mahogany construction, Grover tuners, coil splitting, nice inlays. The only complaint I have is that the pickguard has a few minor nicks in it, and to my eye some of the details like the "Les Paul Traditional Pro" tag on the head aren't perfectly straight. Again, for the money and for a first electric I'm happy.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro Electric Guitar:
Great guitar for the money. I always wanted a les paul, but I didn't want to spend thousands on it. I saw this one in [@], and fell in love. It feels awsome, and sounds great, I compared it to a gibson, and just couldn't see the price difference. I won't lie and say it feels just like a gibson, but it's close enough for me. I have owned a few epiphone guitars in the past, and never had any problems from them. I am quite pleases with this guitar.
