Great guitar! I?ve been playing for 23 years, and own several guitars (Taylor, Guild, PRS, high-end Fender, etc.). I?m picky about tone, playability and construction. A few years ago, had a jumbo guitar stolen (American-made Guild Jf-30 w/ flamed maple back, sides & neck), and have been trying to replace it. But couldn?t find the same make/model for under $1,000 (which I can?t afford right now). The Epi EJ-200 (fancier version) caught my eye as a possible cheap alternative to the Guild. Tried a few, and was mildly impressed with tone and playability for a guitar in the $300-400 price range. But I prefer simple appointments, and was not a fan of the fancy pick-guard, inlays, and bridge. I found the Limited Edition EJ-200 Artist, priced under $200, with looks right up my alley. I played a few, with varying results. But all reasonably good for the price. When it went on sale at Musician?s Friend for $175, couldn?t pass it up. Had to wait almost two months due to backorder. But it was WORTH THE WAIT! This particular guitar is AMAZING! Fit & finish are flawless. Like several other reviewers, I received a guitar w/ solid spruce top (not laminate, or ?select spruce?). The tone is stunning. Crisp highs, balanced mids, booming lows. Excellent action and intonation up and down the neck. Easily rivals my long-lost Guild for looks, tone and playability. I can?t find anything bad to say about this guitar, and can?t believe the quality at this price. Was planning to upgrade bridge, nut and pins. But honestly, it sounds great as is. In my opinion, you won?t find a better guitar for less than $1,000, and this one sounds & plays better than many that sell for more than that. There is some variance in quality with these guitars; so your experience may not be as good as mine. But for under $200, it?s worth the risk.

I bought one of these about 2 months ago to have around my office as a beater since I love my Epi EJ-200 model but didn't want to spend another $400 to get another one. I got mine when they were more $$. There are no words to describe how much I enjoy this guitar and it's worth 5 times whatever they are charging for it. I put some Medium Elixer strings on it and it whales with sound and clarity. I did have to shim the saddle a hair and slightly adjust the next, not nothing major and the finish, etc. is outstandingly done. I am truely amazed at that not everyone has one of these. Also, It is "solid top" regardless of what some may say. I have thoroughly inspected mine even with a mirror, etc. and it is a solid top. I have had professionals, and others play mine, and they all have went out and got one for themselves even when they were higher priced.
A stripped down version of the regular 200.
Seems to be great to me.
Absolutely outstanding value

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EJ-200 Artist Acoustic Guitar:
I've wanted a big-bodied "strumming" guitar for a while, and am partial to the Epiphone brand, so when I saw this model, I was very inlterested. This natural finish EJ 200 is beautiful to look at- the spruce top and maple back, sides, and neck are an attractive alternative to the tobacco sunburst pictured above. I received this guitar as a Christmas present, and had to wait weeks before opening, but it was well worth the wait. The set-up and intonation were great out of the box, although I replaced the .11 D'Addario strings with .10 Earthwoods. I was floored by the tone of this guitar...it simply sings! When played, the notes are clearer and resonate more than even a Takamine I've had around the house for years. A beautiful guitar, and a beautiful-sounding guitar. A great alternative to spending thousands on a Gibson name plate jumbo. As always, Musician's Friend delivery was within five days of order, and I was lucky enough to have gotten 15% off!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EJ-200 Artist Acoustic Guitar:
Epiphone and Musicians Friend have done it again!
"The Friend's" helpful and expert staff provided all with the information necessary for me to choose wisely, while I save my nickels for the Gibson J-200.
This EJ-200 Artist is a beautifully appointed instrument, that was ready to play right out of the shipping carton.
Unbelievable would be an understatement!
"The Friend," continually provides the best service, quality, and value, which is why they will always be my "Go-To Music Source."

Great campfire guitar. Big enough sound to be heard over crackling logs and voices....low enough cost to not be worried about dinging it up a bit. This guitar sounds as good as guitars costing FAR more $$$$. You won't be sorry with this one!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EJ-200 Artist Acoustic Guitar:
I've been playing for over 10 years I've owned many guitars in the past (Ovation, Peavey, Yamaha, Schmidt, Gibson, Fender, etc). I have a Gibson J-200 Sunbust Acoustic Electric, I play the heck out of that thing for a good reason, for one it's a Gibson and two it has amazing sound quality but when I compare sound quality between the J-200 and the EJ-200... I don't notice a difference. I shouldn't have spent the money on the getting just this one but then again who can beat Gibsons amazing quality?!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EJ-200 Artist Acoustic Guitar:
I chose the natural finish and the example that I received is a gorgeous instrument without any blemish or defect visible. Mine has a SOLID book-matched Spruce top, book-matched maple sides and book-matched maple back. The neck is flat sawn maple in a slim and comfortable round "c" profile. I set up guitars for a hobby and so I checked this one out as soon as I had it out of the box. Now here's the "astounding" part: this guitar had perfect intonation on every string and needed no set-up at all. Neck relief was perfect, string height was as low as possible, there was NO string binding through the nut on any string and the tuning was rock-solid stable! I've set up around 150 guitars and I have never seen any guitar come perfectly set up right out of the box before. Never. The bridge is plastic but is a "compensated" design which accomplishes PERFECT intonation on this instrument. Since all of these adjustments are specific to the string brand and gauge being used I should mention that I immediately restrung with D'Addario EXP26 Phosphor Bronze in 'custom light' gauge (.011 high E). Even these "light" gauge strings drive the large top effortlessly and to a very high volume. The tone is as good as I've heard on any Martin, Guild, Gibson, Taylor, Takamine or Alvarez that I've played. Seriously, this is a very high quality instrument. It's sensitive and dynamic with the capacity to express the most subtle fingering nuances. Bold yet delicate.
The guitar's light weight, huge volume and tonal richness all speak to the quality of design and build of this model. It's hard to believe and actually a bit scary to think that Epiphone can produce an instrument like this for this price with a lifetime warranty and perfect set-up out of the box. Since it's denoted as a "Special Edition" from Epi's Custom Shop there may be an end to the availability of this very cool EJ-200. I can't recommend this guitar highly enough.
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EJ-200 Artist Acoustic Guitar:
It's a factory 2nd but you cannot tell. I'd love to know why but they don't tell. Even my repairman did not see why they rated it that way. Soooo I really wanted a jumbo and found one even I can afford!!!
Bought the return for an astounding price. I figured to send it back if I was not happy. It is an amazing instrument for any price. The frets have been leveled by my local guy and it is just fun to play and just booms out sound! Put in a sound hole pickup and that bright Jumbo sound comes through.
Love it!
Top is solid spruce. I think the sides and back are solid also. The neck is straight and true.
Hands down value! Would be hard to beat for that money.
