This Limited Edition Epiphone EL-00 PRO Mahogany Top Acoustic/Electric guitar is a direct descendent of Epiphone's original line of flattops which go back to the Golden Age of acoustic guitars, the 1930s. This smaller "parlor" or "blues box" style acoustic guitar is favored by blues players of all eras for its compressed, woody tonal quality, short scale, and comfortable weigh. The combination makes it ideal for fingerpicking or the bark of a bottle neck slide. It features a select mahogany body with solid mahogany top, rosewood bridge and mahagony neck, again, a mixture of tonewoods that'll fit right in the blues pocket.

Now featuring the Fishman Sonitone soundhole preamp and Fishman Sonicore pickup, the EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric can be plugged-in and heard on any size stage with first class acoustic/electric sound. The pickup is set underneath the saddle. The Sonitone sounhole preamp is an active preamp mounted in the soundhole with easy-to-access mounted rotary controls for Master Volume and Tone adjustment. Now you can make your adjustments during soundcheck and even fine adjustments on-the-fly during your set. No more running back and forth to your amp or the soundboard. The active preamp is powered by a single 9-volt battery. You can connect your Epiphone EL-00 PRO to a PA or amp of your choice with a standard 1/4 in. instrument cable.

This Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric features a solid mahogany top with 3-ply black and white binding. This top will improve in tone as it ages, meaning the more you play it, the better it will sound. The body features select mahogany with single-ply white binding on the back. The mahogany neck and body combined with the solid spruce top make for the perfect combination of tone, warmth and brilliance with a bigger sound than you would expect from a smaller-sized guitar.

The smaller body (15.5 in. wide at lower bout) and straight rosewood bridge also influence the EL-00 PRO's distinctive voice which is more focused than a dreadnought and perfect for singers. The rosewood bridge features a compensated imitation bone saddle. The 24.75 in. scale select mahogany neck has a SlimTaper D profile with a 1.68 in. nut and is set with a hand-fitted dovetail neck joint using premium Titebond glue. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12 in. radius, single-ply black binding, 19 medium frets, and pearloid dot inlays. The  Vintage Sunburst color finish is complemented by a tortoise shell-style pickguard with a vintage metal "E".

This special guitar also features Epiphone's no-nonsense quality including nickel hardware, strap buttons, a 1/4" endpin, Grover 14:1 machine heads with mini-buttons, D'Addario Phosphor (12-53) strings, and carries a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials or workmanship.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Mahogany Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I chose the all mahogany as the spruce top voiced a bit too mid range trebley for what I wanted. It's warm, perfect intonation, remarkable sustain and felt like an old pair of favorite slippers right out of the box. I wish Epiphone would provide it's superior cases at dealerships. I've replaced the nut and saddle with custom made antler, but that's just nitpicking. THe location of the battery pack allows for non limiting acoustics. top 3 strings must be loosened to change battery but no big deal. It's the location for high end guitars, so....
If I was still gigging I'd take it to any stage with confidence. EPIPHONE, you've done it again.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Mahogany Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I rate this guitar as a 5 due to quality. This is a very well made guitar and my set up was fine right out of the box from Musicians Friend. BUT, the only things that surprised me however purchasing with what little spec information I had was that the guitar is bigger then most parlor guitars. Its overall length is approx 41 inches and 10.5 inches at upper bout and 15.5 on the lower. That being said its almost as big as a full size guitar but has the sound of a smaller parlor guitar. If I would have known the size, I would have purchased a smaller parlor which is what I was looking for which is why I knocked it one star. The other reason I knocked it another star was due to the elec pickup it has which does sound great, but they placed the battery inside the center hole so if you use an amp a lot like I do for small venue playing, you have to take off the strings to replace the battery which is crazy. You cant be playing a gig and have to remove your strings if the battery dies. Something to think about if you use this ax for gigs. If you like a bigger parlor and don't use the amp much this would be a great guitar for you.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Mahogany Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

If I rated the guitar based on the 1st 5 minutes I played it I would have gave a 1 and sent it back, but I plugged it in and loved it. Unpluged it feels compressed sounding but plugged in it sounds sweet and you can strum it as hard as you want and chords sound even and fall in the mix perfect. I would not use it to finger pick it gets to soft sounding. When I strum it with a little chours and reverb with a Marshall acustic amp it sounds like a twelve string. The fit finish was perfect. The action was great with no buzz even when played hard. The only real issue is the end pin jack is bad so it needs to be replaced but I will do it myself because I did not want to send the guitar back. Overall I love this guitar and although it would not be my main stage guitar I will use it alot when I want that mid range 12 string sound. Also it is nice to play sitting down for practice because it sits in my lap nice.

Good retro looks, but poor construction. Logo fell off pick guard and left moderately deep scratch or dent.. String set too high and had to adjust. Intonation off.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Mahogany Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Was in the mood for a little knock-around acoustic for impromptu jams, open mic's, etc. Didn't want to spend much, was intrigued with the idea of short-scale parlor size. Had played a similar one years ago and never forgot how it felt; easy to handle, with a kind of compressed yet rich sound that was fun to play. Saw this at MF, discounted for a blem, bought it sight unseen and held my breath (hey, could always send it back if it was a dud). Well, its not. Been playing it every day for a few weeks and am thrilled with it. No it doesn't sound like a J-200 but it has a LOT of character, and for a great price including blem case its a steal. And I have yet to find the blem on either the instrument or the case. My only gripe is the really stupid battery bag inside the body which will require removing strings to get to. Really??? One star off for that bit of unnecessary weirdness. My next rainy day project will be to install an external battery case (cheap fix). Bottom line, its a fun little box, looks ok, plays good, sounds cool in a different kind of way and is a steal for what you get.
