Epiphone

Classic semi-hollowbody sound from a solidbody-sized guitar in limited edition colors.

Epiphone introduces the much anticipated ES-339 PRO - an instrument with its roots planted firmly in the classic era that helped define the Epiphone and Gibson Kalamazoo factory as a leader in cutting edge instruments. Today, this new semi-hollowbody from Epiphone turns back the clock while simultaneously rocketing the player-favorite into the future.

The Birth of a Legend: Introduced in the late '50s, the ES series became an instant classic by bringing the feel of an archtop to players who had wholly embraced solid body classics like the Les Paul. The first in the ES series, the ES-335 became an instant success but for many players, its body was slightly too big. The new ES-339 PRO is the perfect remedy, featuring body dimensions that are smaller while still retaining the bell-like tones of all ES series guitars as well as the classic shape.

Classic Construction: The Epiphone ES-339 PRO features a reduced size laminated Maple body with a solid center block. The SlimTaper™ "D" profile 24.75" Mahogany neck has 22 jumbo frets with a 1-11/16" nut and is hand-set and glued with a Mortise and Tenon neck joint with Titebond™ Glue. The 12" radius neck also features a Rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inlays, much like the original. Single ply silver-sparkle binding on the fingerboard and body completes the classic look and looks superb on all the ES-339 PRO's finishes which include Cherry, Ebony, Natural, and Vintage Sunburst.

Epiphone Barrier Breaking Electronics: The new Epiphone ES-339 PRO pickups are set up to provide a huge variety of sound choices for the modern guitarist. For those who are used to carrying two guitars to gigs, the ES-339 PRO will solve that problem once and for all. Now, you can play any gig and any style with just one guitar--the Epiphone ES-339 PRO. The ES-339 PRO's fabulous Alnico Classic PRO™ humbucker pickups can make an infinite variety of tones thanks to the 3-way Pickup Selector which features a push/pull coil tap. The neck pickup volume pot and the bridge pickup volume pot each feature an easy-touch push/pull coil tap, making it easy to switch back and forth between single coil or classic humbucker sounds. The all-metal heavy duty Epiphone 1/4" output jack gives you a lifetime of worry-free use.

Epiphone Hardware You Can Trust: The classic Epiphone hardware you've come to know and trust makes the ES-339 PRO a must-have guitar. Featuring Epiphone's LockTone™ Tune-o-matic bridge and LockTone™ Stopbar tailpiece, the ES-339 PRO sports all nickel hardware along with Grover™ 14:1 ratio Vintage machine heads with Tombstone buttons.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Described as "used" this guitar came with a minuscule paint blemish near the bridge which is unnoticeable. Says a lot for the integrity of Musician's Friend to sell it at a discount price. Set up was to my taste, low action, no fret buzz, accurate intonation. I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and Bought this Epi for lightness and ease of handling. Not disappointed. Has the warmth and depth of the Gibson using the hum buckers with the added sting of the single coil sound using the coil tapping function. It is therefore more versatile and can handle a huge tone range from warm jazz using the neck pickup with the tone rolled off to neighbour-irritating tops from the bridge pickup on split coil. All this through a Vox AC15 VR. A very good buy for the beginning guitarist or consummate professional. I've been guitaring since the 60's and I would say this is the best off the shelf axe I have bought. The finish is impeccable, with an excellent paint job and accurate binding, equal to the Gibson. The only negative would be the frets, which resembled an unpaved road. I dressed them with 600 grit sandpaper, followed by 1200 grit, finishing with a silver polishing cloth. Perfecto! Silky smooth! Thanx to Musician's Friend for postage and handling without peer. The guitar was here in New Zealand in 8 days.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar, nicley put together. Mine arrived in perfect condition as did the case I ordered for this guitar. Frets are nice, the neck has a nice feel and it sounds as good as it looks. The black body with the metalic silver binding looks great. I have no problem refering Musicians Friend to my friends.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Absolutely awesome guitar. I went to a local store and played numerous models and kept coming back to this one. It just felt and sounded right. Unfortunately the local place did not have any other than the demo which was well used, and they did not know when they would get more so I ordered from MF.

Guitar was just awesome right out of the box. It was packed with a QC inspection card right on the strings. Every thing was pre-checked and set up unlike a more expensive Fender I purchased earlier this year. All I had to do was tune up and go. Action was smooth just like the well worn demo I tried. Fit and finish were also excellent. Even though I just got it, I know this is going to be my main guitar for a long time. For jazz and blues, I believe this is "the" guitar. I also recommend the matching case.

I own a BB King and a 335 this has a smaller neck for better action and a smaller body thus allowing you to get better cut when playing with bands.
