OVERVIEW

Classic semi-hollowbody sound from a solidbody-sized guitar in limited edition colors.

Epiphone introduces the much anticipated ES-339 PRO - an instrument with its roots planted firmly in the classic era that helped define the Epiphone and Gibson Kalamazoo factory as a leader in cutting edge instruments. Today, this new semi-hollowbody from Epiphone turns back the clock while simultaneously rocketing the player-favorite into the future.

The Birth of a Legend: Introduced in the late '50s, the ES series became an instant classic by bringing the feel of an archtop to players who had wholly embraced solid body classics like the Les Paul. The first in the ES series, the ES-335 became an instant success but for many players, its body was slightly too big. The new ES-339 PRO is the perfect remedy, featuring body dimensions that are smaller while still retaining the bell-like tones of all ES series guitars as well as the classic shape.

Classic Construction: The Epiphone ES-339 PRO features a reduced size laminated Maple body with a solid center block. The SlimTaper™ "D" profile 24.75" Mahogany neck has 22 jumbo frets with a 1-11/16" nut and is hand-set and glued with a Mortise and Tenon neck joint with Titebond™ Glue. The 12" radius neck also features a Rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inlays, much like the original. Single ply silver-sparkle binding on the fingerboard and body completes the classic look and looks superb on all the ES-339 PRO's finishes which include Cherry, Ebony, Natural, and Vintage Sunburst.

Epiphone Barrier Breaking Electronics: The new Epiphone ES-339 PRO pickups are set up to provide a huge variety of sound choices for the modern guitarist. For those who are used to carrying two guitars to gigs, the ES-339 PRO will solve that problem once and for all. Now, you can play any gig and any style with just one guitar--the Epiphone ES-339 PRO. The ES-339 PRO's fabulous Alnico Classic PRO™ humbucker pickups can make an infinite variety of tones thanks to the 3-way Pickup Selector which features a push/pull coil tap. The neck pickup volume pot and the bridge pickup volume pot each feature an easy-touch push/pull coil tap, making it easy to switch back and forth between single coil or classic humbucker sounds. The all-metal heavy duty Epiphone 1/4" output jack gives you a lifetime of worry-free use.

Epiphone Hardware You Can Trust: The classic Epiphone hardware you've come to know and trust makes the ES-339 PRO a must-have guitar. Featuring Epiphone's LockTone™ Tune-o-matic bridge and LockTone™ Stopbar tailpiece, the ES-339 PRO sports all nickel hardware along with Grover™ 14:1 ratio Vintage machine heads with Tombstone buttons. Case sold separately.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Once I adjusted the bridge to my liking, the guitar played flawlessly...the tones out of this thing is pretty sweet, especially with the coil-tapping.....my only niggle is that the f-holes weren't exactly painted well, but that's just purely cosmetic (after all, it was a factory second)...other than that, I love this guitar, it enables me to pursue other styles like Jazz/R&B/fusion, Alternative power pop, pop country (I have my shred machines to do the metal-hard rock thing)

got this guitar a few weeks ago and love it! it does tend to lose tune after an hour or so of play but i haven't changed the strings or anything. I would totally buy this guy again especially at this price point.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

I have been playing, off and on, for 25 years - My daughter wanted to learn to play guitar, so I got back into playing.

I played 335s/dots, les pauls, strats, SGs, and then the 339. I dislike the plastic tuners on the pro and ultra. However, the limited had chrome tuners, and I thought to try one. Try to FIND one in a store was hard enough, and when I did, it was fantastic. Even the shop worn beater in guitar center sounded fantastic. I am a blues/rockability/country player. this guitar fits the bill.

The action required lowered, intonation to be set, and a slight tweaking of the truss rod. Set the height on the pups, and it flat out rocks.
Pink Floyd, Gordon Lightfoot, Cat Stevens, noodling, and some hank sr.. it plays like I have known it my whole life.

If you can FIND a black royale, BUY IT ... almost all of them have been sold (12/17/13). The blue one isn't to my tastes, but plays equally as well.

Is it a martin/gibson/custom? Heck no .. and in 20 years, when I am "good enough" for the difference to be important, I might buy one.

        an EXCELLENT value.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Guitar arrived early and was perfectly packaged, with no damage whatsoever. Spent a little time adjusting and playing with tone controls; the comment by the user who recommended raising the bridge pickup was spot on - except for me it was the other pickup! However, once adjusted properly, the guitar sounds great and plays well. I don't think it's the very best guitar I've ever played (I have a custom built solid body guitar and a PRS semi-hollow that I think play a little easier and give a bit better tone) but for the money spent, this guitar is a winner. I imagine that in a year or two when it's had a chance to wear the "new" off, it'll play and sound perfect!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

I'm a bassist of 42 years,I play some guitar, keys, etc. Bands I've play/played with have shared the bill with the likes of Michael McDonald,Nils Lofgren,Kansas,Elton John,Molly Hatchet,Danny Gatton, etc. I got this Epi 339 today and am floored how nice it is! It was ready to play out the box! Basically, tuned it up and GO! Very impressed with this guitar... it's a "keeper" I build basses and guitars(parts guitars).I'm not an Epiphone employee writing this(if they really do that?) The ONLY thing I see if I wanted to be picky about,is the detailing around the F HOLES..it could have been painted a little bit better there, more detailed. The feel, sound, hardware, look is all there baby! I had a 335,and this is sooo much nicer being a smaller body! Love the coil tapping too! I'd never buy the Gibson 339,I just saved like...$2000???? Whats not to like about that! Buy this...ENJOY! I am.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

I read several reviews on this guitar, most of which were dead on! The frets did need polishing, the bridge pickup volume was weak, so I raised it a bit and solved that problem. I did tweak the neck tension a bit and adjust the small E string intonation a bit, just some minor OCD personal picker stuff most players possess. That being said, there was one review addressing volume issues with single to double coil switching and also noise issues. I use a Boss ME-50 and run compression and noise reduction at about 12:00; I have no issues with noise or volume loss! This guitar sounds GREAT!!!!! I used a Les Paul from 71-88 and a Strat with Lace Sensors from 88 until this thing. I have a recording studio with about 32 different guitars/pickup variations from a 65 335 to 99 Les Paul DC and 135 Gibson, pretty much the rainbow of sounds, this is my new work horse!!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

For the money, this is probably one of the best guitars made by Epiphone. (Not counting K-Zoo)

The neck is super comfy, the pickups are punchy, probably the best pickup I have ever heard in a new Epi.... I really like the coil tap feature, it sounds fantastic through a tube amp.

Not heavy, doesn't do the headstock dive, semi-hollow... the only thing I can think of that I would change or at least offer is a Bigsby.

I'm very pleased with this guitar and I'm old and picky. Ya done good on this one Epiphone!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Described as "used" this guitar came with a minuscule paint blemish near the bridge which is unnoticeable. Says a lot for the integrity of Musician's Friend to sell it at a discount price. Set up was to my taste, low action, no fret buzz, accurate intonation. I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and Bought this Epi for lightness and ease of handling. Not disappointed. Has the warmth and depth of the Gibson using the hum buckers with the added sting of the single coil sound using the coil tapping function. It is therefore more versatile and can handle a huge tone range from warm jazz using the neck pickup with the tone rolled off to neighbour-irritating tops from the bridge pickup on split coil. All this through a Vox AC15 VR. A very good buy for the beginning guitarist or consummate professional. I've been guitaring since the 60's and I would say this is the best off the shelf axe I have bought. The finish is impeccable, with an excellent paint job and accurate binding, equal to the Gibson. The only negative would be the frets, which resembled an unpaved road. I dressed them with 600 grit sandpaper, followed by 1200 grit, finishing with a silver polishing cloth. Perfecto! Silky smooth! Thanx to Musician's Friend for postage and handling without peer. The guitar was here in New Zealand in 8 days.

Frets are nice, the neck has a nice feel and it sounds as good as it looks. The black body with the metalic silver binding looks great. I have no problem refering Musicians Friend to my friends.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-339 PRO Electric Guitar:

Absolutely awesome guitar. I went to a local store and played numerous models and kept coming back to this one. It just felt and sounded right. Unfortunately the local place did not have any other than the demo which was well used, and they did not know when they would get more so I ordered from MF.

Guitar was just awesome right out of the box. It was packed with a QC inspection card right on the strings. Every thing was pre-checked and set up unlike a more expensive Fender I purchased earlier this year. All I had to do was tune up and go. Action was smooth just like the well worn demo I tried. Fit and finish were also excellent. Even though I just got it, I know this is going to be my main guitar for a long time. For jazz and blues, I believe this is "the" guitar. I also recommend the matching case.
