Up-to-date take on the classic Black Beauty Les Paul Custom.
There's nothing cooler than wielding a limited-edition axe like the Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom 3 Plus. Now you don't have to be a rock star to own one. Each month of 2005 will see the release of a different, unique guitar that will only be made in limited numbers. While based on legendary past models, each instrument will be customized with special finishes, hardware, pickups, and other choice trimmings to make them genuine collectibles.
Epi took one of their Black Beauty 3 Les Paul Customs and turned it into a Plus by adding a flamed maple top with a translucent black finish. The 3 open-coil humbuckers have more bite than the standard covered pickups, and the all-black hardware gives it a dark, modern look. It has the standard mahogany body and set mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard for fat sustain and warm tone. Also has block fingerboard inlays and body, neck, and headstock binding. 2 volume and 2 tone controls with a 3-way toggle switch.

- Cool Three Pickups
- Great price
- High Quality
- Rocker's Guitar
- super sound
This is just an incredible guitar. I own two Gibson Les Paul Studios and this as good as they are. Well made, quality sound, really cool to look at, and just a rocker's guitar! Love the three pickups. If you can find this guitar buy it as it was only made for one month in 2005.
- Was this a gift?:
Believe it or not, I bought this guitar as a knockaround, because I did not want to use my Custom Shop Gibson LP Custom Silverburst for everyday practicing. I did not expect the quality, playability, looks, and tone that I received. I was astounded by it's playability and tone. I have quite a collection of guitars and this one Instantly became my favorite. I can't put it down. Unbelievable guitar. I highly recommend it.
After recieving this guitar from Musicians Friend.com I have to say I am very impressed. It is close to flawless estetically and has great action. Tonally it is the equal of my buddy's gibson and he actually prefers the neck on the epiphone. NICE JOB this guitar is killer for the money.
I just picked one up brand new and got it much lower than the regular price. This guitar is excellent, its got great action which is easily adjusted with the tune-omatic bridge. The pickups are superb, you can go from screaming distortion to mellow rythm and right to sounding almost clean with the added third pickup. The finish is excellent on the front and the neck feels as good as it looks. If you don't want to buy this guitar you have to at least find a way to pick one up and play it. I'd have to say, this might be the best Epiphone out there, and I've played a bunch. This guitar is the Super Train Station H of guitars!
I bought this guitar a week ago, to replace my old SG. Very impressive, the 3 pickups gives a great range of tones, which once fiddled with can match any guitar needs [I'm in a metal band and a funk band, and have arranged it for both]. The colors aren't quite what are shown in the picture, but in my opinion the black side-boards are an improvement on the grey ones shown. It's definitely worth the money. The neck is almost as nice as my friends Gibson, and a little lighter on the fingers, which makes faster playing a doodle. One of the machine heads was loose when I received it, but nothing that about 30seconds with a screwdriver didn't fix. Also, you may need to heighten the action, as there was a little buzz on the D string. After a few hours of fiddling though this guitar sounds amazing which is why I gave it overall 10? Well done Epiphone just shouldn't have made it Limited Edition, not enough going round.
One word comes to mind: "Amazing". Epiphone has done it again, and I'm surprised big brother Gibson allows it. (Well they're one company anyway, so maybe it's not too surprising...if Epiphone does well, Gibson stock goes up too!) The finish and binding is flawless on mine, the setup was perfect (although the stock strings left a bit to be desired...) and the sound is pure Paul, with some very pleasant tonal surprises. It is a real eye catcher, and everyone wants to pick it up and play it. People who own classic Gibson Pauls have told me how impressed they are with it. I am very happy with this guitar, and since you are reading this, I think you will be also!
This is a very nice guitar. I would recommend it...however, I am writing this review to caution you on the picture. The sides of the body are not grayish as shown in the picture. They are solid black, and the white outlining is more of a yellowish-white or ivory. As far as playability, go out and try an epi les paul custom at any local store. This guitar is very similar with a few mods. Overall, great guitar!
I've been playing off and on for some time now. Every once in a while a gem comes along that shines among others, the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Limited Edition 3 is that gem. The sound, the craftsmanship, the flame top, all adds to the beauty of this guitar. I would highly recommend this guitar to all but, being a limited edition, better hurry before they're all gone.
I just recieved this guitar and it great. Fit and finish are perfect. I being a qulity control supervisor for 25 years I look for qulity and this is it. Playing guitar for over 35 years this plays and sounds great. Just what I was looking for and all for a great price. Rock On!
This is an absolutely wonderful guitar, I just got it today and it sounds like a true Gibson. I am already in love with this guitar. There is one modification I think I will make is, I will have it rewired so I can choose which humbucker I want to use.
Please don't buy this guitar if you plan on keeping it with factory settings, and stock equipment. But I swear that if you upgrade, and get some minor adjustments made to the body/neck allignment, this guitar will become your standard like it has for me. I put in some spare humbuckers I had laying around, and they work better than the stock ones... :P These are temporary until I get some EMG's put in. It's a beautiful guitar, and for the price, the risk of buying it without even previously using it is WAY worth it.
Bought this guitar last week. Much lighter than I thought it'd be, and that's a good thing. The feel, sound and finish are wonderful.Very fast fretboard, need to raise the action a bit and that's a first. It's just set a bit too low causing a minor buzz from a string or two, but that's minor.I own a fender telecaster, stratacoustic, alvarez acoustic and now this epiphone. And it's my absolute favorite.
I opened the box all excited to play this and it arrived with a broken string. Ran to the local music store before it closed and replaced all with Markley Blue Steel regulars. This thing sounds great. I am running it through my digi effect processor and my favorite setting is "Bypass" for a nice crisp natural sound. This is my first electric guitar...been into acoustics for years.
