OVERVIEW

Gorgeous Les Paul looks matched with professional guitar appointments.

Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul Quilt Top PRO electric guitar combines the best of Les Paul's original design with new features that set this Epiphone guitar apart. Case sold separately.

Professional Electronics
The Les Paul Quilt Top PRO uses Epiphone's 4-wire, nickel/silver base humbuckers with newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is Epiphone's chrome-covered ProBucker 2 with warm, thick vintage tone. It's uniquely paired with a chrome-covered ProBucker 3 humbucker, an inspired by version of Gibson's BurstBucker 3, that features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate that "Patent Applied for" airy tone. To top it all off, both volume controls feature push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you get 6 unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.

Premium tone woods
The Epiphone Les Paul Quilt Top PRO guitar has a solid mahogany back with a stunning, carved quilted top. Its solid mahogany neck is hand-fitted and glued into the body for excellent neck-to-body contact and resonates almost like one continuous piece of wood.

Loaded with add-ons
Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul included quality Grover tuners, a traditional cream-colored pickguard, and LockTone™ tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top PRO Electric Guitar:

Picked this instrument up yesterday in the cherry sunburst finish. Photos of this guitar do not do it justice- it is simply striking in my opinion. Especially in this price range. I have owned other epiphone instruments and have seen very consistent quality from my perspective, tho your mileage may vary. The motivation for me was in getting a vox ac15c1 earlier in the week. I auditioned the vox with this guitar and was thrilled. I came home and did not have a les paul to get the same cookie, so back I went and there you have it.
Sounds great through an amp, and also works great through my pod 2.0 to record direct. There is much debate on the pickups, but I am very happy for now. I always have the option to change them later if I choose to do so. Coil tapping is a bonus but not a real factor for me.
Set up was poor off the shelf, but there were no dead spots so setting action and intonation was pretty painless. I removed the pick guard as the finish is so nice I did not want to obscure an inch of it. If you are like me and you feel a real Gibson les Paul has become priced outside of your reach, this and the other epiphone les Paul's will satisfy that itch, or at least put a bit of lotion on it. Recommended.
Five stars based on bang for buck, quality and GAS satisfaction.
Do not worry about purchasing a guitar from musicians friend. They will take care of you. period.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top PRO Electric Guitar:

Fit, finish, frets, neck are all excellent. I've been over this guitar several times and can't find a flaw. The only complaint is the set up from the factory was poor. The bridge was cocked over about 30 degrees and after adjusting that to proper string height, it plays beautifully. I love the coil taps - you really get two guitars sound-wise. This is my second Epiphone (I have owned a Casino for years) and you can't find better guitars for the money. Period.

This looks beautiful. It plays beautiful. I don't know if I am sold on the coil splitting yet. So far I don't think it is doing what I was expecting. I think a p-90 and a strat pickup in between the humbuckers would be killer. Some food for thought. In all, I got what I asked for. M.F. was a pleasure to deal with as usual.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top PRO Electric Guitar:

I just got this guitar today and upon a very stringent examination I can't find anything that I can complain about. I have owned a variety of electric guitars over the last forty years, including several Gibsons. And i've got to say that this guitar is every bit as good as any other instrument I have ever owned. Now I haven't plugged it in yet, but from all the reviews that I have read I don't think I will be disappointed as good as it sounds unplugged. The set-up right out of the box was right on the money, not to say that I won't tweak it in a little after I break it in. But the gist of this review is that this guitar is worth every penny that I plunked down for it.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top PRO Electric Guitar:

Mine is a few years old now, so I've had time to let the honeymoon settle and for the guitar and myself to discover all the things we don't like about each other. At the time I purchased this guitar, it was hands-down the best sounding guitar I had ever owned. The electronics are solid and for recording, it blew my other guitars away. However, it has some things that I really don't like also. The neck is very thick, the body is very heavy, and in a sitting position, Les Paul's are just uncomfortable to me. Also the tuners feel pretty cheap, and unplugged, this guitar sounds like cardboard.
Now don't get me wrong, this guitar has many pluses as well... the translucent finish is BEAUTIFUL. As I said before, the overall tone is great, even through a practice amp. And since I'm a bit of a collector, it just feels right to have at least one of these in rotation (I'm not paying Gibson prices for a guitar style I'm not too crazy about, so this is as close as it gets). I'm a Fender guy, but if you really want to have a Les Paul, these things are overall pretty great and priced fairly.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top PRO Electric Guitar:

Looking to get back into a Les Paul, I sat down played several Les Pauls (including Gibsons) at my local guitar retailer and this one sounded so much better than any of the other ones. The tone this thing puts out is unsurpassed for the money. The neck was a little out of whack from the factory, but after a set up, it's just perfect. I'd definitely recommend this Les Paul to my friends and I will be gigging with it this weekend.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top PRO Electric Guitar:

I simply want to write, "Best Guitar Ever In History," but I can't write that without thinking about hurting the feelings of those who might not have this guitar yet. The guitar has great pick ups. There is no need to compare this guitar to a Gibson Les Paul. Different sounds, different generations, different worlds, and so on.

Whether I play this guitar through my practice amp or through my cabinet, Epiphone's bright sounds come through beyond my expectations. For those of you who are into distortion, well, the guitar can meet those needs and then some. Should you be into shredding and that sort of thing, I can only suggest that you put some lighter strings on it than I have on mine. I really can't say whether or not it is great for that. However, for those who like guitarists such as Izzy Stradlin or Andy McCoy or Chrissie Hynde or Tomoyasu Hotei and would like to hear a different take on that sound, this Epiphone guitar delivers that experience.

Having played a lot of guitars and basses over the last thirty years, it was a surprise that this guitar would be the one that made me want to sit down and think through why it is that I enjoy playing and recording with it. The guitar has a familiarity about it, but it is not any attempt of mine to sound like somebody playing in 1976. This guitar may not stand the test of time like others do. Still, the reason to buy a guitar to my way of thinking is to play now, right now, so please do so regardless of which guitar you own at the moment. You can always pick up Limited Edition Les Paul Quilt Top Pro Electric Guitar tomorrow or the day after that. Respect the rock!
