Epiphone

Les Paul tradition combined with modern professional features.

Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro electric guitar combines the best of Les Paul's original design with new features that set this Epiphone guitar apart.

Professional Electronics.
The Les Paul Traditional Pro uses Epiphone's 4-wire, nickel/silver base humbuckers with newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is the Alnico Classic Pro humbucker with Alnico-II warm, thick vintage tone and open zebra coils. It's uniquely paired with Epiphone's ProBucker-3 humbucker. An inspired by version of Gibson's BurstBucker-3, the Les Paul guitar features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate that "Patent Applied for" airy tone. You'll love the way they sound! To top it all off, both volume controls feature push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you get 6 unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.

Tone Woods with Great Feel!
The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro guitar has a solid mahogany back with a carved top and a solid mahogany neck that's hand-fitted and glued into the body for excellent neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. The guitar neck features a SlimTaper™ D profile with a smooth and fast "worn" type finish on the back of the neck and body.

Loaded with premium add-ons!
Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul included quality Grover tuners, a traditional cream-colored pickguard, LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge/stopbar, and Epiphone's own StrapLocks. Like every Epiphone, the electric guitar features their Limited Lifetime warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 day Gibson Customer Service.

I am giving this guitar a 10, not because it's perfect per se, but because what you get for this price is amazing. This was the nicest Epiphone I've played, and was better than a lot of Gibson Studios I played. Obviously, this isn't the $1800 Gibson version, which is nicer than this guitar. But If this guitar had the gibson headstock on it, They'd be selling it for a lot more than this, trust me. If you're trying to decide between this and a cheap studio, or even a different Epiphone, let me make this easy. Buy this guitar. Plays great, beautiful neck (which is where the satin finish shines, it feels great!), pretty darn fine pickups, holds tuning extremely well, and on top of it, mine came with a hardshell case and strap locks. You just can't do any better than this in a guitar at this price point. Period.
A lot of things to like about this guitar in the way of features. Coil split is useful. When using only on pickup on coil split, there isn't a huge tone change, but if you use both 'buckers on coil split at once, you get a really nice Fender-y tone. As close to Fender single coils as you'll get with a mahogany body. All the nicer Epiphone parts, Grovers, etc. The Burstbucker bridge pickup is absolutely beautiful, I anticipated just throwing in an extra Seymour Duncan custom custom I had laying around, but honestly, I'll leave the burstbucker. Neck pickup is nice too, great for vintage Led Zeppelin, early Rush, Jethro Tull, all that kinda of stuff. Honestly, this guitar is a 70's machine to the max.
I was somewhat worried about ordering an Epiphone through the internet, but I can say that when I opened up the box, I was blown away. She feels awesome, if you hear anything about this guitar not having a maple cap, and that adversely affecting tone, don't sweat it. This guitar cuts through a mix better than my old LP Studio with a maple cap. Got the nice fingerboard binging, the satin finish is beautiful, and the guitar overall just feels VERY solid. Even the output jack is the most durable feeling output jack I've ever used.
Amazing value. Literally the best deal on any guitar that i've ever bought, or someone i knew bought. Buddy of mine plays a USA special strat, and offered to trade me. And I told him no way in heck. This thing's an amazing guitar for the money.

well the ups man dropped off my les paul pro today, I unpacked the guitar and right away I noticed that the packing was substandard. The strap locks fell off during shipping and did a number on the finish.Speaking of finish the neck had a flat smooth finish as stated in the description, what is doesnt tell you is that the whole back of the guitar has the same finish that looks like it was rolled on...UGLY.Now dont get me wrong I finished unpacking and pluged her in to my 1973 Traynor MK.III and gave her a good work out,the coil tap is a nice feature.. the factory set up was a joke.the finish of the front of the guitar had scratches but I must admit that she played perty nice and with a proper set up would be ok. value for the money...not even close.I packed her back up and sent it back the same day...IMO Epiphone make a good guitar. The pro might be right for you,its your call .....MF as always very helpfull, thanks

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I have three Gibson LPs and wanted to see how an Epi would stack up. Beautiful front gloss only finish, comparable sound quality, and playability. Had to set up intonation and that was it. For a fifth of the price of my Classic LP, I would definitely recommend this beauty. Desert Burst is gorgeous..

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I own several Epi Les Pauls... this one is definitely the most versatile, as you would expect from coil-splitting pickups. The finish is spectacular, gloss on top and satin back, sides, and neck. This is a great guitar for any purpose.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I bought this Les Paul on condition 2 - basically brand new. These guys did a fantastic job with the packaging. Out of the box, the setup was great and it wasn't even that far out of tune, impressive. The ProBucker bridge pup and the Alnico Classic have a lot of output that makes it great for pinch harmonics, tapping, or your basic palm muted chug. The C shape neck might be thicker than what you're used to at first, but it's no issue to me at all. The neck joint is not the most ergonomic, making playability at the highers frets slightly more difficult, than say a D shape Wiz-III neck on some Ibbys.
I believe this guitar has opened up more possibilities to me, I'm a newer player who began on a Squier Strat, and the LP screams in comparison! I bought it in Ebony with the cream trim and it looks fantastic. With a leather strap, it's great for jamming!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I have been a semi professional musician for over 40 years. Gigging and recording. I've had many high end guitars - still do. Read many reviews on the newer Epiphones and decided to try one. OMG! Out freaking standing guitar for the money. The ProBucker pickups are the real deal. This unit came with the ProBucker 2 and 3. I will indeed be using this guitar for most of my music from this point on. I play through various old school tube amps and this guitar absolutely sings so sweet. The pickups respond very well to your picking dynamics and the volume control. This unit did not have the Mallory caps that some did and I might change them, but it sounds super as it is. The fit and finish on this one was virtually perfect - this one was made in China - setup was very good, all I did was lower the strings a bit. Guitar feels solid, satin finish on back is great. I play a wide variety of styles of music (no metal) and this guitar will handle them all. The coil splitting option actually works very well and the single coil tones are very useable. We'll see how it holds up to being the #1 everyday. My wife couldn't believe this guitar cost less than a thousand - which is what I have spent many times over on used "real" Lesters. I could not be more impressed. Buy it - I'm glad I did.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

This guitar now hangs on my wall with my 77 gibson black les paul custom, 76 fender blue strat and 3 c.f. martins! It is an excellent guitar and does not seem to really be an economy thing. excellent play ability, tone, and finish! I tried it on a whim and am very glad I purchased it. This is an excellent replacement guitar for the time being if you cant afford the real deal Gibson Les Paul!! In time you may want to change the pickups to your own personal tatste but the factory ones work well for now!!

Nice action a string buzzed a titch. No biggie. Hate the way they did the back. Matte finish shows where body is glued too much. Still debating on not to send back. Has a that slash sound with alnico II mag pickups.

I was immediately drawn by the looks of this beauty. I sat down an played for a while and since I was in the store to buy a guitar, I went ahead and brought it home. I have played every day for a year, and it just keeps getting better. I have thought about getting a 335 or 339, but every time I pick up my Trad Pro, I change my mind.

I was looking for a great value at a cheap price..I found it! I took a chance on a described "cosmetic defects" guitar since the price was so low and I've been wanting to practice some basic luthier skills anyways and as expected it has some fret buzz and intonation was off, fun quick fixes on both. But surpisingly I only found one minor cosmetic defect in this guitar! Very pleased!
