Named after the Gibson research and development team, the RD electric guitar is maple solidbody electric that appeared briefly at the end of the 1970s. Featuring a highly contoured, well-balanced asymmetrical body with exceptional upper fret access, the RD wasn't a huge success in its day, but try to get a hold of one now and you'll have a challenge on your hands and your wallet.
Thankfully, Epiphone has brought back the RD electric guitar in all its vintage glory, minus the big price tag. Features on this limited edition guitar include Alnico Classic pickups and a LockTone Tunomatic bridge. The glued-in maple C-shape neck offers superb strength and sustain with great playing comfort. The RD's controls include individual volume and tone for each pickup plus a 3-way toggle switch, all clustered on the bottom half of the lower bout for quick adjustments on stage. Rosewood fretboard, polyurethane finish, gold hardware. Whether you're rediscovering the Epiphone RD guitar or meeting for the first time, you're in for a playing experience that will make you smile for years to come.
