Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition SST Studio Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I used to have one, sold it a few months ago. The pick ups are really thin sounding if you play it by itself through an acoustic amp. I suggest a Fishman Preamp, which is built in to more expensive acoustics. After you shell out the dough on this guitar, and the preamp, and a decent acoustic amp that gets some bottom tone out of the damn thing, might as well spend the money on something quality! I used this as a back-up for my real Chet, and thats the only way they sound good. Dont be fooled, though. The real Gibson or Epiphone Chet Atkins don't sound much better. If you have the extra equipment and signal processing kickin around already, it's an OK piece...o' crap!
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition SST Studio Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This guitar was a gift from my wife which makes it special to me for that reason alone but, it also has a good sound and plays great. I have a Gibson accoustic, Rickenbacker, Strat and an old Musicmaster. I always thought you had to pay a lot of money to have a good guitar and would not have considered an Epiphone if it were not for this gift. I now play this guitar more than all of my others because I love the sound, feel and its history.
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition SST Studio Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I bought the Chet Atkins SST version of this same guitar last year. Though it plays well enough as an acoustic, the electronics seem flawed. Epiphone could have done a better job- the battery pack seems oddly out of place, and it's unnecessarily difficult to change it. Other than that, it's a good enough guitar.
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition SST Studio Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I've had this a couple months now. It is awsome. My first Epiphone. The finish is great, the neck is straight, and it is set up well. The neck is not as fast as the high end electrics I have owned, but I bought this to replace my acoustics for rhythm playing, not lead guitar. It is perfect for what I intended it for. Great guitar for the money, but I do miss the Chet Atkins signature of earlier versions.
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition SST Studio Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I bought one for my 15 year old daughter. Actually she picked it out and was quietly content, trying not to spend too much. It's her 3rd guitar. She never complained but a few weeks in I could tell she wasn't very happy. I traded in a few LPs for a slightly used Taylor T-5. The Epi will serve as firewood this holiday season.
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition SST Studio Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
It looks like the Chet Atkins, but it ain't no such thing folks. I had an Epi Chet that was stolen. I loved that guitar and wasn't happy that they discontinued it. So when I saw this, I thought it would be my last chance to get one new. Don't waste your time. I can't imagine what Epiphone was thinking. The channel routed for the saddle looked like it was done by a someone too drunk to hold it steady! The tuners (NOT Grovers by the way...Chinese knockoffs), were similarly installed. Crooked! I don't think we can blame MF for this though folks. This is purely Epiphone trying to squeeze a few extra bucks out of spare parts. No wonder they took Chet's name off of it. He would be rolling in his grave!!! Stay away from this one!
