Marcus Henderson, best known as the heavy-metal guitar player behind a majority of guitar parts in the highly successful video game Guitar Hero, has joined forces with Epiphone to design and create the Apparition signature electric guitar. Marcus says this dream axe is designed to be the very definition of what a 21st century guitar should be: substance with killer style, bulletproof construction, and above everything else, huge tone.
With a shape reminiscent of an Explorer or Futura, the Epiphone Apparition takes guitar design to the extreme and offers a patented All Access heel contour for maximum playability over the whole fretboard. The effortless speed-friendly neck is modeled after the '60s slim-tapered Gibson Les Paul. The real Floyd Rose tremolo with a specially routed back cavity lets you pull-up screaming harmonics. Active EMG-81 and 85 pickups give you all the killer tones you've been dreaming of. A kill button chops the sound up any way your heart desires.
A hardshell case designed specifically for the Marcus Henderson Apparition guitar is also available.

This guitar deserves the title of "Perfect" for me personally. Everyone musician is different, but this guitar had everything I was looking for. I have been playing guitar for fifteen years and play metal, rock, and classical. This was a wonderful addition to my collection.
I was originally looking at an ESP Explorer (400DX--since discontinued), but I still wanted the Floyd Rose Tremlo, ebony fretboard (more on this later), EMGs, mahoganey neck through, and I was personally going to install a killswitch.
Then I stumbled upon this guitar. It literally had everything.
I have several other guitars like a Les Paul, a Jackson Rhoads, but I wanted something in an explorer or its' precursor the futura.
The finish of the guitar is even more gorgeous in person and is a little darker than displayed in the photos. A read a lot of reviews discussing whether or not the fretboard is ebony--it is--just not black ebony. You can feel the difference from rosewood and your fingers can just fly up and down the board. The simplicity of the scythes inlday marking the 12th fret is also a pretty touch.For those of you concerned about finding your place and not having a visible inlay, there are markers along the side noting the typically inlayed frets.
This guitar also has 24 frets and they are all very accessible due to a cutaway in the back of the guitar. My hands were not strained at all when playing the 15-24 frets.
The action on this guitar is phenomenal--if you're a metal guitarist you will love this. There is no buzz and you barely have to press the strings to make them sing--which makes complicated chords even easier to manage quickly.
The guitar is mahogany which gives it a rich deep sound and gives it a little bit of weight to it as well. Mind you, it's not nearly as heavy as a Les Paul, but it's not a feather weight telecaster either. I find its a nice balance. It's also a guitar that is extremely comfortable while playing sitting down. A rhoads or a king V can be cumbersome if you just want to practice while watching TV on the couch or something. The deeper cut of the futura model rests comfortably on your leg and you won't strain your back if you're sitting for a long time.
81 and 85 EMG's speak for themselves--they're wonderful, clean, versatile, and give incredible distorted tones. The killswitch is also fantastic and if you're into playing buckethead or just want to experiment with different fills, its a great addition. It's also comfortably placed and not an eye sore either.
The hardware is high quality and the volume/control knobs are nicely decaled with a similar finish to the guitar's body. Grover tuners are also really precise and with the locking nut the guitar rarely goes out of tune.
I have no real complaints with this guitar, which is not always the greatest when trying to give an objective review. I would have probably gone with black ebony on the fretboard--but once you oil the fretboard anyway it gets really dark and looks close to black.
So if you're debating on whether to get this guitar or not, rest assured you will not be dissappointed. Go out and get it!

If you were to ask for the perfect guitar, this would be it. It plays so great, it almost plays itself! The neck plays so smooth, and the attack and sustain are incredible. This guitar produces some of the greatest metal tones ever. Its a great deal for anyone looking for that perfect crunchy metal sound! The best thing about this guitar is it has a built in killswitch and tremelo bar. Theres nothing this guitar doesnt have to offer!

played one in a local not to be named music store, nice guitar so nice it had to come home with me, only complaints are the ebony isnt real dark, and it should come dual emg 85'swasnt set up very well out of the box, but after leveling the frets and doing a set up it has stupid low buzz free actiontraded the 81 for an 85 in the bridge, and now im thinking im going to try some ebony dye to get a jet black fretboard

Well, I actually played this guitar today, and as soon as I played it, I had to come and write a review. I randomly saw it, picked it up and played it, and dang...This is my next guitar. It has EMGs (81/85, I think), an Original Floyd Rose, 24 frets, a killswitch, and it's a neck thru (one whole piece). I'm totally going to use this guitar for rhythms in the studio, it sounds so sexy!! What more do you need to hear? The only reason I gave it a 4.5 overall is because the cutaway wasn't good enough for me, although my hands are big, so it's up to you to test it, but in short...BUY THIS GUITAR. It's troubling me that I don't have this guitar yet...
