This AJ-500M is just what I was looking for. It's pure and simple vintage look makes it easy to look at...but the sound and tone are the best of all. Mine came set up well and was playable right out of the box. The wood is beautiful, the headstock is art deco, and the top is made of fine lined solid sitka spruce as good as any found on a $3000 Martin. I also have a $3000 Martin J-40, and let me tell you, THIS AJ-500M gives it a real run for the money! Had I stumbled on this baby before I bought the Martin I would have saved thousands. I like it BETTER than the rumbly and dark noisy Martin, and better than the tinny $3000 Taylor which I sold. If you want a quality solid wood guitar for a few hundred bucks, instead of a few thousand..then this is the guitar for you. Grab it now! You will be sorry if you don't! And Musicians Friend is a real class act. I have bought several guitars from them, and they have been wonderful with returns, as well as delivering excellent guitars! Don't hesitate on this one. After 30 years of playing, I know a good sounding acoustic guitar when I see and hear one...and THIS is one GOOD guitar!

            Quality so good !

            By William Wiseman

            from Winchester, Kentucky

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500M Advanced Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

Only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because a hard case wasn't readily available (I'm sure you can find them tho) and the action is just a bit high for me - it may be perfect for others.
Build quality is excellent - satin finish is beautiful. Intonation checks out very well. Very nice looking mahogany back and sides and flawless spruce top - the guitar looks like a well taken care of instrument that was made years and years ago! It has an 'antique' air about it. The Masterbilt line
lives up to the name... and does Epiphone proud. This is a jumbo, but doesn't seem to me all that huge, it's easy to hold and play, and it is quite loud. It does have a different sound than rosewood guitars, but that means no more than the sound of my voice compared to yours. I like it very much, and for the price, my goodness, what a deal! If this had "Gibson" stamped on it it would cost 3000 bucks - as far as I can tell it is essentially a Gibson in disguise... heck, I love the Epiphone name and logo and stickpin on the headstock... I wouldn't sell it for twice what I paid for it. At 500 bucks this is a true bargain if I ever saw one...
I already indicated quality is excellent - in the above description... I find nothing to complain about.
Only wish it came with a case! I'd gladly pay extra for a good hard case. For me, the action seems a tad high; but it is not bad.

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500M Advanced Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

The tone of this guitar is absolutely amazing. Well balanced overall. A pleasure to play after a long hard working day at the office. It will take you any place you'd like to be and back. Close your eyes and strum, you'll see what I mean.
What else do you need besides all solid woods, 6 strings, and quality tuners... at this price? It's Crazy. It's worth the wait to save up for this guitar if you don't have the money right now.
Very well constructed. Flawless. I still can't believe it arrvied in tune. Could not find a single thing wrong with the construction of this guitar. Top notch. Worried that it's made in China? Don't.. it's a good thing because we are able to afford this beautiful, high quality instrument.
Spectacular value overall. Got this guitar on sale too... what a steal for an all solid woods guitar. A definite keeper and something you can pass on to a loved one that also loves music.

Best value on the guitar market

The tone is amazing, the looks are classically elegant.
Buy this guitar, you will not be sorry!
This is a straight-ahead 6 string acoustic dreadnought. The stickpin inlays are kewl, so is the offset headstock notch. The satin finish is beautiful and is does not interfere with the tone whatsoever.
Although it's made in China, the workmanship is every bit as good as a USA made guitar, no sloppy work anywhere.
Where else are you going to find a 100% solid wood guitar for less $$ ?

I use the Epiphone AJ500M at home and the sound is so sharp, full and "woody," I can't put it down. The slender neck lends the axe well to both lead and rhythm parts. I love the tuners and the satin finish looks classy in the sunburst color. I truly love this guitar and will keep it till the day I die; hopefully my daughter will then pass it on to her kids one day.

            Perfect

            By TheSkitch6

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500M Advanced Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

It's the perfect acoustic in every way. Amazing price for a guitar that plays as well as high end Martins and Taylors. Solid spruce top and solid mahogany sides. Not some cheap knock off of a higher end guitar. It's a line all of it's own and I think it's one of the best kept secrets of acoustic guitars. I bought this used and it might as well have been listed as brand new. The earlier models came with a custom case and I wish they still did but this guitar is still WELL worth the money. The Natural Satin finish is the only way to go. It has a vintage, professional look and feel to it and it seems to help the body resonate so nicely. The tuners are a vintage open style and they look and work beautifully! You can't go wrong with Grovers. The higher notes are easy to reach even without a cut away and the tone of this thing blows my mind every time I pick it up. The basses aren't too boomy and everything has amazing volume. It my even be too loud when singing without a PA. Do yourself a favor and buy this guitar. It's the kind of thing that turns into a family heirloom. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500M Advanced Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

i spent about 6 hours in guitar center over the course of about 3 days trying to decide which guitar was best for me.i played everything up to and under 1000 dollars. my budget couldnt budge any higher.during my search i picked up many guitars, but after everyone i went back and compared it to this. i eventually came to the conclusion that this is the best guitar anywhere near my budget. it sounded to my ears better than every martin under 1200 that the particular store had(no d-15s). the sound is great! i love a more muddy earthy sounding tone which is probably what drew me to the mahogany rather than the tonally clear sound of he more expensive rosewood. Anyways this guitar sounds amazing and i do not believe anyone would disagree. playability was also a large pull factor. this guitar plays and feels amazing! Visually this guitar is very simple. not a high gloss finish or pearl inlays or anything, just the simply beautiful look of fine woods, which personally i enjoy more. Overall i am extremely happy with this guitar, and i dont plan on ever parting with it. recommended to everyone!!!
