Wow, I have been playing guitar for a long time, have owned several acoustics and was never impressed with Epiphone... until I found these Masterbuilts. I played several and took this one home - it has a very warm, open sound to it and it is very easy on the eyes. The action is wonderful, I'll never have to worry about fret buzz. It seems very durable. I am very thrilled to have found this - I never expected Epiphone to make good acoustics (everyone knows their Elitist electrics are amazing). Cheers to you, Epiphone, this beer's on you!
I have had several other acoustic guitars and have played some Martins and Gibsons, but when I purchased the Epiphone DR-500RA I was very impressed with its looks and sound. Right out of the box it was ready to go, good action and everything very clean. It has it all, great looks and super sound.
The score from the rating discouraged me from purchasing the guitar. But when I look at the material: premium solid sitka, premium solid rosewood, solid mahogany... I can't be wrong with this guitar! Just ordering these same quality of tonewood from raw stock to built a guitar myself already costs me more than $599!When I received the guitar, I knew I made a right decision. Beautiful sound comes out of the beautiful tonewood! I did adjust the neck rod, nut, and saddle, but it was just for my own taste of sound and playing style (high tone, heavy bass, and hard strumming...). Without the adjustment, its sound is already beautiful! What can I say! I'm so happy that I got all the high quality tonewood at this price. Yes, the handcraft is not that high skill as the Martin, but the sound is still there!
