Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Another great Epiphone, mine is Korea manufactured. I have an origonal 1967 Gibson 335 I bought new and this is the closest sounding guitar I have played to the Gibson. It has great Larry Carlton sounding leads and smooth Jazz sounds in the neck pickup position.
This like the ES-175 it is now listed as out of production at the Epiphone web site, so if you want and can find one new, snap it up. No, I do not work for Epiphone.

A beautiful rock and roll delight

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I was expecting a full hollowbody guitar but this one is a semi hollowbody. Even so, it still has a nice acoustic sound. I am an acoustic player and this is my first electric so I think I need a guitar with different characteristics. This is a fine guitar that seems geared to the hard rock, high gain player. I would not hesitate to recomment it to a friend but it is not the one for me (fortunately I purchased from MF and they will accept my return without hassle).
Extremely high build quality. I don't know how they do it for the price. The colors are much richer than the photos can show and the finish is a beautiful gloss with no flaws. The neck was straight with smooth fret edges. This looks like a guitar that would hold its' looks for many years to come.
I must say this Korean made guitar defines value

Worth The Wait

By Dr Jagenstein

from irrelevant

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

The natural color is better than any photos reveal. The cream binding is simple and very classy. The neck is thin and fast. Hardware is top notch. Pickups are great! The only thing not better than expected are the factory strings. A $5.00 set of Ernie Ball's will fix that.
I had been researching a semi-hollow body double cutaway for months after seeing Robben Ford live. I was considering a made-in-Kalamazoo Heritage H535 at 2-2.5K but then I came across this guitar. Maybe it was the Frequensator tail piece that caught my eye. Maybe it was that sweet Epiphone acoustic I let slip away back in the late 60's. I waited 2 months for it to arrive and I am a happy man. It is beautiful and growls. For the money, it has fantastic fit & finish. That is not to say it is perfect. The black staining around the F-holes has some minor flaws. If you want perfect, drop the 3.5-5K for a Gibson ES335. But before you do that, find one of these and plug into a good tube amp, turn it up, close your eyes and I defy you to hear that 2.5K difference.
It's a made in Korea Epiphone but we are so lucky to be living through a golden age of high quality products from Asia.
Unreal value.

An Amazing Guitar

By Music Time

from Rochester, New York

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I purchased one recently (2011) and couldn't be any happier. This is truly an amazing instrument. Great tone, terrific sustain, and one heck of a great player. Outstanding craftsmanship and perfect setup right out of the box. The frets were also finished to perfection.I wish I could have found one of these sooner. Didn't know what I was missing. I've been playing My Epi Casino and Sheraton II for several years and am happy to add this one to my stable. You won't find better value for your money. I used to own/play Rickenbackers, which cost much more, but they weren't anywhere near the quality of these Epiphones. You owe it to yourself to give this special Epi a try. I still can't believe what I got for the price - outstanding! The weight is between a Casino and a Sheraton II in case you're wondering. Nice and light.Best money I ever spent.Keep up the good work Epiphone!!

WOW!!

By Scott-rZjEk

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I initially played an Elitist version of this guitar. I really didn't want to purchase the Korean model. I was hoping to find an older Elitist. I gave up on the search and decided to take a chance on the Korean model. I'm so glad I did because otherwise I would have missed out on a really nice guitar. It is extremely well made and sounds wonderful. It has better electronics than what I have seen on other Epiphones made in Korea (I have a Sheraton). Not to say the other guitars from Korea are bad, but this one is noticeably nicer. The sounds are beautiful. The pickups are punchy and in your face in a good way. There is no muddyness, but only nice round tones. The guitar is very versatile. Whatever your style it'll play it. What I cant figure out is why isnt this guitar more popular??? The only downfall in my opinion, which is not a real big deal, is the pickguard is a little cheap and I wish the nut was bone. Other than that it is top notch and well worth the money. Don't hesitate, get it now!

Just played it

By Rock Lobster

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I just played one of these at the local brick & mortar while testing a pedal. Pretty nice I just had fixed up a buddy's Epi Dot and this has nicer attention to detail by far. Made in Korea too. Looks much nicer in person! Have the itch to back again now :)

Best sounding guitar I've played

By Bodie

from Pearland, Texas

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This NV P94 Riviera is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played. It really delivers the Gibson tone, but in a way that I have never heard before. The set of p94s have higher output and more sustain than traditional single coil pickups.

Tremendous value - pictures do not do it justice

By Bass521

from New York

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is a beautiful guitar. It has more of an orange hue, kind of like the Gretsch orange, but not as intense. The pictures on the Epiphone website and here appear much more washed out. The binding and finish are excellent, the pickups and hardware are very high quality and the sound is extremely versatile. The action was excellent out of the box. This is a beautiful and functional work of art. I bought this for a friend but I'm going to buy another one for myself.

As good as an Elitist or Gibson

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This Epiphone NV Riviera has the quality of an Elitist model and better than many Gibsons out there. The natural vintage finish is the best natural that is available today. With real Gibson P-94 pickups that give you a high output authentic P-90 growl and plenty of bite when needed. I have not seen this kind of quality in a guitar for under $1000. It's a winner, go out and get one today.

The Beatles and Leslie West sound in one guitar

By Boogiemanz

from Vegas

Comments about Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P94 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Last year the Guitar Center in Hollywood had one of these and it drew a crowd whenever someone played it. With a Tubescreamer pedal, the rythym pickup gives you Leslie West/Mississippi Queen/Mountain tones and a clean treble pickup sound gives you convincing Beatle chime. It is a very versatile guitar with first rate fit and finish. It gives Gibson a run for its money.
