OVERVIEW

Yo, ho! A pirate's axe for me!

Avast, there, matey! You won't want to be missin' this here beauty of an Epiphone G-400 electric guitar. She's got all you'd expect from an SG: great sustain and tone, a mahogany body and set mahogany neck, plus two Alnico Classic humbuckers with none of that noise-of-the-sea hiss you're keen to avoid. Just clear, strong sound, like the bellowin' of the lookout from the crow's nest!

Ah, but we're just gettin' to the best part of this booty: This blood-red guitar is covered in custom Pirates of the Caribbean art. The infamous skull logo from the movie is on the body and the headstock, and the fingerboard inlays are lovely skulls and crossed swords! Toppin' it all off is gleamin' chrome hardware and beguilin' Custom Metal volume and tone knobs. Yar-harr!

I have quite a collection (gibson, fender, ricks, hofner, epi, etc.).My family bought one for my wife and I assumed it would just be a nice decoration to go with her Pirates Collection ? I was wrong. Not only does it look cool, it sounds and plays really nice. The graphic gives the guitar an interesting look that reminds me a little of Clapton's "The Fool" SG. Nicely finished in rich red color that bursts to the sides and solid in the back. The fretboard inlay details are nice. The volume/tone knobs look great with the graphic. The headstock looks cool, and uses Grover machine heads. The neck to body joint is clean. After doing a quick set-up lowering the bridge and little tweak on the truss rod, it plays awesome; really smooth (all Epiphones benefit greatly benefit from a little setup). The pick-ups have a nice tone to them too.My only complaint is that the nut's top could be sand down a bit. The strings sit well in the nut, so it's just a matter of having too much nut material above the strings. The guitar comes with a gig bag with Pirates of the Caribbean logo, a two-sided Epiphone poster (Casino photo on front, Epi guitar line on back), a basic guitar cable, and ships in a nice Epiphone box with graphic on front (great for gift wrapping).I'm very impressed by the value. I have a couple Epi Casinos (new and old) and Sheraton II, and enjoy them at a level of my other guitars.

The guitar is alright, nothing I'd recommend for anyone who's had experience playing before, as the overall tone of the guitar is pretty lacking especially when compared to guitars of the same price point. If you've got 400 this ready to spend on a guitar that's only real selling point is it's paint job, then I suggest throwing in a few extra bucks and getting a guitar worth a little more in terms of tone...

nice guitarrrrrrrrrrgh

By HisDudeness

from Texas

Only problem I had with mine was one of the tone potentiometers had to be tightened up straight out of the box (but that's no biggie if you aren't scared of working on your guitars). I love the feel of set neck and the fixed bridge after playing strats pretty much my whole "career" (recreational playing off and on for 6 years). Neck dive is mildly annoying, but it can easily be compensated for. If you're looking for an eye-catching sustain monster that doesn't break your back or your wallet, look no further.

A LOT of Guitar for the Money!

By PRSareBest

from San Diego

With the sale prices these days on this puppy, it's a *great* deal. Guitar, gig bag, the graphics, knobs and inlays. Very scurvy and much more attention to detail than just a stock SG400. VERY COOL!

Great guitar

By JarydROX

from NY

I got the guitar for my birthday in November... it isn't the BEST guitar i've ever played, but the Inlays are wonderful and the sound is precision, if you have a good amp i recommend this guitar... and, if you like Pirates of the Carribean of course :)

Unbelievable Pirates Epi SG

By VoJoPapster

from NORCAL

Gotta say it's close to even up with my 68 SG. It's got that great tone. Action is exceptional. Playability is Gibson feel. Craftmanship is good with only action and pickup height adjustments done. Pickups will burn if you open(Vol.)them up. This is a visually stunning looking instrument. Definetly a keeper and an unbelievable price. The difference between the 68 and the Epi is really too close to call. Now I wish I would have picked up the Pirates LP when it was offered. This is an out of the box rock machine. Plug it in and hold on!

POTC Epiphone

By Chris-cEw3j

i just got this guitar as a gift from my close friends and it is one hell of a guitar! The sustain on it alone makes it a good buy. The humbuckers present such a rich tone on the guitar making it ideal for any guitarist. The artwork is an added bonus! I LOVE THIS GUITAR! I Highly recommend it.

Captain Jack Sparrow?s guitar

By Guitar Grandpa

from Undisclosed

I just got my Red SG Captain Jack Sparrow Epiphone. It?s great for the bucks and my grand kids will get a big kick out of it. It?s worth the money. It was set up great with near tune and intonation. I like that from a new guitar. My next promising guitar playing grand kid might end up with this one.
