Does not have the booming sound of a big fat acoustic but good enough for home use and concert use when plugged in. Small size allows for easy portability and instant enjoyment anywhere.
Of all the epiphone acoustics I've played, this seems to top them all. Full-body sound and curved neck to fit your hand like a dream. I highly recommend this guitar.
Sure, you can buy a better instrument, but you'd have to spend more than twice the green. This is a beautiful piece (transparent black was my choice), it plays extremely well, and aside from the difficulty I had getting the bridge pegs to seat when I changed the strings and the occasional howl characteristic of hollow-bodies played in confined spaces, it's the best value you'll find in an acoustic-electric. Since the strings it ships with are worthless except for maintaining neck tension, changing them before you play is a must. Fit and finish are excellent, and tonal qualities are exceptional, considering its small body. The width of the neck is perfect, and action is as low as you'll find in an acoustic guitar without buzzing the frets. Add a little chorus or distortion, and no musical style is off-limits. The PR-6E is every bit as good an acoustic-electric as my Epi Les Paul is a solid-body electric. Epihone strikes again; I have trouble putting it down.
After purchasing this guitar I was very impressed with the look. The enlay, fit and finish is beautiful. The Neck it self is comfortable and string height is excellant. However there are a couple of problems, first I have three positions on the neck that frets out, second the tone is very thin while playing unplugged. On the other hand the price and look of the guitar is a great reason to own one of these for the BEGINNING musician.
Well crafted beautiful guitar. Clear tone with adequate sustain.
Having ordered this guitar online, I was dissappointed in the size of the body, and the thin neck. The un plugged sound is thin, but true, and the highs are sharp and bright. Plugged in you can get an amazing amount of different sounds with the preamp and phase shifter. If you jam with a jumbo body you have to really hammer on it to be heard. If you have thin fingers, and small hands you will love this guitar. It is one of the "prettiest" guitars I have ever owned, but I have a hard time with the thin neck&body
I bought this guitar in the Trans Black finish. After string change and complete set-up. Re-lelveled the frets and recrowned, Plays great. The finish was ok. I think I was sent a used guitar. had scratches all over the top. Thee was also excess clearcoat chunked around the soundhole under the end of the fretboard. I should have sent it back for a new one, but i have to much work in it now. I would reccomend this guitar to someone who likes to do set-up work. has potential.
Got the Amber color for Christmas.Sounds Great!!!Beautiful Finish and very light weight.I ordered it fro the Guitar Center - Got a Epiphone case to match and I'm all set. I got my Fender Strat and my Epiphone Pr6e. Whats next - time to join a band again. ps: I'm 50 years young and going to do it all over again!! Buy one - you'll love it!!
Today, epiphone makes some great guitars at great prices, always remember that nothing today is made in the U.S.A.
Lemme first come out and say I love this guitar. It's a gem in my opinion. The guitar isnt huge, but the sound it gives is great. I've had it for about 6 months now, and I've never though twice about my decision. The guitar itself is gorgeous. I love the way it sounds, feels and plays. The pickup is rather basic, so if your someone who loves gadgets, this one isnt it,. Although its pickup is simple, it is great, I play through my wireless Audio Technica belt pack, and I have never once had a problem. I love this guiatr.
I recently purchased the PR6-E and to say the very least it is an excellent sounding/looking instrument. The body is somewhat smaller than others, but the speed of the neck is awsome along with the low setup for easy fretting. No buzz either. I play lead guitar in a Christian Group, but on certain songs I play acoustic. The other acoustic player strums with a Taylor. We augment each other very well and it's hard to tell which is the Taylor except for the heavier tone. A very good bang for the buck ! A beautiful guitar (I have the black). In my opinion after 40 years of "pickin" it's one fantastic guitar for the price!
First, I have to say this guitar is gorgeous...I have the transparent blue, and it's absolutely striking. Beautiful abalone work too. As far as sound goes, I couldn't be happier. Unplugged, it has a surprisingly rich tone for an acoustic/electric...and plugged in, it's excellent. Comfortable, thin neck makes for easy playing. Just be careful when ordering the case because the case that says it's for PR5/PR6/PR7's doesn't have enough headroom for the E model, and the only case that's specifically made for it is a gig bag.
I recently purchased the guitar in black. Needles to say it looks awsome. I found the tone to be excellent, but I did put a set of Elixir light/mediums on it that gave it a more full sound. The body was smaller than I anticipated, but after playing it a while, one gets use to it and its quite confortable. You will not get the sound of a full size acoustic when not plugged in; but when plugged you can't tell the difference unless you used to playing a Taylor or a Martin. For the price, it is a superb buy and will fill most all needs you may ever have with an acoustic.
Beautiful guitar. Much smaller than I anticipated, so you might have to strum harder than usual to make the sound travel. The electronics are alright, great for the price. They're a little twangy, not as clean as i'd like them to be. Good for people with smaller hands, or girls, i suppose. It works great for me, but I'd rather have a larger body guitar, now that i've played a few others. Great beg/int guitar though!
