I got a USA/Japan Sheraton not too long ago. Looks wise, the guitar is stunning (I have the Vintage Sunburst Model w/Frequens. tail piece). A far as playability, so far, I've compared it to my Heritage H535 and my friends vintage Gibson 335, and it is just as nice. Low action and nice sound. The mini humbuckers definitely don't have as much bite as a Les Paul, but they have a nice vintage sound. I recommend it, in fact, I think I'm going to get another. BTW I spoke with a Gibson tech. and he confirmed that the body is made in japan (like the Elitist), the finish is nitro, and all the electronics were installed in the US hence the "Assembled in USA" sticker. Other than that, the only draw back on this guitar is the plastic nut. I replaced mine with a bone one immediately.
Expensive but great quality and sounds. We use it regularly on a number of differnt music and performer styles
