Having played with Bigsby trems before, the first thing I did was replace the bridge with a Schaller Roller bridge. My Wildkat stays in tune even with alot of tremolo use. I found that to be the norm for Bigsby fitted guitars. Also the spring tension has to be adjusted by someone familiar with Bigsby trems. I have played Gibsons with the same problem.

Changed bridge to a Schaller roller bridge. Installed humbucking pick ups and all new electronics. Tightened loose screws, a bit of fret work and set up. Now I love it. The bones of the guitar are very good. It is a beutifull guitar. (mine is 2011 natural finish). I am considering buying a wine red now. Likely will need the same mods.

Comments about Epiphone Wildkat Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

Just got this guitar for christmas. After raising the action a hair, putting some wax in the nut, and putting a set of elixer 11's on it, it plays like a champ. It's so comfortable to play and the semi hollow body is quite resonant and combines well with the p90's. I love this guitar!

Comments about Epiphone Wildkat Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

This guitar is great. I would have given a 5 star rating except for the chrome pick up covers. they look great, but they cause terrible ringing and feedback, plus it's impossible to set the intonation low enough.
Pop those off, lower the bridge, and it's got amazing tone, less ringing/feedback, and the neck is super fast and playable.

Comments about Epiphone Wildkat Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

I absolutely love this guitar...after replacing the Bigsby with a vintage tailpiece. The Bigsby is too close to the stopbar and the bridge needs to be rounded. As designed its impossible to keep this guitar in tune. After modifying, this is becoming my favorite guitar. The body is smaller and slimmer than a normal hollowbody making it easier to play, but still growls. I play several styles, and this fits all, with the exception of shredder metal. Nice sustain and an easy neck. The pickups are very hot, but a tweek on the amp during a switch from the LP or Strat solves that problem. Recommended if your willing to junk the Bigsby.

Comments about Epiphone Wildkat Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

Staying in tune was a big problem when I got the guitar 2 years ago. The Bigsby and bridge are too close together and at steep angles. Fun to play and looks fantastic (I have Sunrise Orange), but the saying-in-tune problem made for the love/hate. Invested in some upgrades over time - graphite nut, bridge with rolling saddles, replaced the stock PUs (were a tad dark and muddy) with GFS P90s (much brighter), and in a tech who really knew how to set up the guitar. Beefier strings (typically Slinky .011s) also help with both tone and staying in tune. Also bought a hard shell case, since no case or bag came with it. I nearly doubled the price of the guitar (up almost 20% from when I bought it), which is why I only gave it 4 stars. The result was worth it. This is now my favorite guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Wildkat Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

FIrst off, this is NOT a true SEMI-hollow body. It's a FULL HOLLOW BODY guitar.
When i lifted the P-90s up, lo and behold, there is NO MIDDLE BLOCK! There is a solid piece under the top but it doesnt start until about where the bigsby on top starts. Semihollow body guitars have a wood block that runs down the middle of the body, both for more structure stability, and to avoid feedback.
Yep, couple that with hot single coil P-90s (measured it at 8k ohms for both neck and bridge), you got a recipe for FEEDBACK. for some this is good, for most, not so much.

Though this looks like one of the vintage reissues, it is NOT. it is a relatively newer model in the Epiphone line, which i applaud heartily. Epiphone has been relegated to being GIbson's own cheap Gibson knockoff for years, im glad they're reissuing models what made epiphone great back in the 40s thru the 60s. The Wildkat sits and fits right in there with them.

As i mentioned, the P-90s are HOT, it pushes dirt easily as you turn up your amp's gain. The P-90s could use some changing if you want a more vintage tone. But if you like it hot, there ya go!

The Bigsby is a plus! it's not a floyd rose, so dont go yanking it like them bighair 80s dudes. It's there for subtlety. Don't expect it to stay in tune long either if you use it. I have it on an Epi Riviera P93, and i changed to a rolling bridge and locking kluson tuners. stays in tune even if i do go yanking it like them bighair 80s dudes.
The body - small! compared to the usual semihollow/hollow bodies. And for a hollow body, it ironically feels solid. When i took off the pickups, the top had more than decent thickness to it compared to some semihollowbodies i've workd on. It looks like it can take a beating without flinching.
And the flame maple top is gorgeous! It looks more wild yellow than it does natural, but i think it lends well to its name. My only gripe is the dull natural color of the back. If they sprayed that bright yellow/natural also or made it the same tint as the neck, it would look more amazing! Instead it looks pedestrian. One of my buddies got the limited edition Black Royale version, and the color is on the whole back as well, and it looks MUCH better than the dual/tricolor motif the natural version has.

That said, if you do get this, dont store it away - HANG IT ON THE WALL! it's very striking, and it's vintage enough to look like a period piece.

Playability is great, but don't expect thin necks for fast runs. this is made for the MLB- the neck is one chunky grip! i dont mind, but others who want to shred should look elsewhere.

Over all, i wanted this for it's striking looks and uniqueness. It's worth it if you want something different. If youre set in your ways, not recommended, it'll be too weird for you.

Comments about Epiphone Wildkat Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

Instead of constantly repairing and upgrading my vintage guitars, I wanted something brand new and maintenance-free. I opted for the "re-stock" model and got it cheaper. Same brand new guitar, just the cardboard packaging had a hole punched in it. No big deal. There is a bunch of "Fret-Buzz" going on though. I should probably have a music shop set it up for me. Tried to fix by raising the action but still get a little "buzzzz". I bought this without ever trying a WildKat. So it's my fault that I think it's a little on the heavy side. Thought it would have been lighter than my SG.
