An exciting signature model that lets you instantly go from incredibly heavy electric guitar to sweet acoustic sounds without having to switch guitars.

The Music Man John Petrucci Ball Family Reserve BFR 6 electric guitar from Music Man was designed in conjunction with the world-renowned Dream Theater guitarist. This exciting signature guitar features an alder body with a bookmatched maple top with a mahogany tone block from under the bridge to the neck pocket. A select maple neck has an adjustable truss rod and 5-bolt mounting for perfect alignment and stability. The John Petrucci BFR 6 guitar's sculpted neck joint allows access to upper frets and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard has wide, high-profile frets and Custom John Petrucci Shield position markers and a mother-of-pearl BFR inlay at 12th fret. The Ball Family Reserve BFR 6 is loaded with Schaller locking tuners and a custom John Petrucci tremolo.

The John Petrucci guitar gives you all incredibly heavy electric guitar tones, but also gives you the option of great sounding acoustic guitar tones. DiMarzio LiquiFire neck and Crunch Lab bridge humbuckers deliver the extended lows and stinging treble tones that Petrucci uses. A standard 3-way toggle lets you select neck, bridge, or both pickups. A push/pull tone control gives you the option of having all 4 coils on or just the 2 middle coils. A second toggle (on the upper bout) lets you select the standard magnetic pickups or the Piezo acoustic pickup, or both! The under-the-bridge Piezo electric pickup lets you instantly go from rockin' electric guitar tones to sweet acoustic sounds without having to switch guitars. A separate volume knob controls the piezo pickup. Dual jacks give you the choice of running output either magnetic/stereo, or piezo/mono, or both. The Music Man LTD John Petrucci signature guitar comes in a hardshell case.

The Ball family is the last of a dying breed, a family business making guitars and basses exclusively in the United States. Ball Family Reserve is a celebration of their heritage in instrument craftsmanship that features some of the finest figured tone woods and finishes available. These rare heritage pieces are offered in limited runs and makes available to the public instruments that were previously reserved for the Ball family and their loyal artists.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Ball Family Reserve John Petrucci 6 Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar for 25 years. This is the best overall guitar that I have ever played. I have owned this guitar for 3 years so I think I have a good grasp of it. There is really nothing this guitar cannot do. You will never be limited by this guitar. The only limit will come from your own ability. There are a few special features I think need to be emphasized:

1) This guitar is made better than any guitar I have ever seen or played. In an interview on you tube John Petrucci said that this guitar is "like a piece of jewelry." I thought this was an exaggeration but it is not. The BFR Petrucci model is flawless ( and should be for what you pay for it). But with that said, I have a $4000 Les Paul that is now where near this quality. I have a buddy with a Surh custom and it too pales in comparsison to this in terms of construction quality, and material quality. This may seem crazy to say, but this may be the best bargain in a custom shop type guitar out there. This is because your would pay over $5000 with most other companies to come close the the quality on this machine.

2) Tonally this guitar can do anything; from country to death metal - it can do it all, and do it very well. Do you still need a strat to get the SRV sound nailed? - Yes. But, if you have the right amp set up, really other than that, this is really this only guitar you would need. I have an Ibanez JEM 7vwh and this thing stays in tune better than the JEM with even the most extreme whammy bar use! Amazing!

3) This thing is super easy to play. You don't even think about the guitar when you are playing it. It just becomes part of you. This may sound crazy but, this guitar makes you a better player just because it gets out of the way to let your ability come through. Don't get me wrong. If you don't have skill, nothing but practice will make you better. But if you have the chops, this thing will help you out a lot!

I have a lot of really high end guitars. In fact my collection is better than most guitar center platinum rooms. I can say without reservation that this guitar is the best that I own and it would be the one I would reach for if I had to have only one guitar.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Ball Family Reserve John Petrucci 6 Electric Guitar:

Well, it's a nice guitar. I'm not saying it's bad in any way. But this 2K + for guitars is just out of hand. It's not worth it. Seriously do you want an artist's model? You want to show up somewhere as a total lame-duck playing another guys guitar? It'd be nice to have for under a grand, but this price range demands a custom instrument built to your spec. Not another over-priced artist model. If you're in the market for a guitar over 2 grand, have a luthier build you something. This is just not enough bang for the buck.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Ball Family Reserve John Petrucci 6 Electric Guitar:

I recently started playing again. Started with a sterling. This no surprise blows the doors off and is hands down the best guitar I've ever played or owned.
It will not disappoint. Everything in the description is modest for this.
