An exciting signature model that lets you instantly go from incredibly heavy electric guitar to sweet acoustic sounds without having to switch guitars.

The John Petrucci Ball Family Reserve BFR 6 electric guitar was designed in conjunction with the world-renowned Dream Theater guitarist. This exciting signature model features beautiful honey bursted koa top on a mahogany body. A select maple neck has an adjustable truss rod and 5-bolt mounting for perfect alignment and stability. A sculpted neck joint allows access to upper frets and a 24-fret ebony fingerboard has wide, high-profile frets and Custom John Petrucci Shield position markers and a mother-of-pearl BFR inlay at 12th fret. The Ball Family Reserve BFR 6 John Petrucci signature guitar is loaded with Schaller locking tuners.

The John Petrucci BFR 6 electric guitar gives you incredibly heavy electric guitar tones, but also gives you the option of great sounding acoustic guitar tones. DiMarzio LiquiFire neck and Crunch Lab bridge humbuckers deliver the extended lows and stinging treble tones that Petrucci uses. A standard 3-way toggle lets you select neck, bridge or both pickups. A push/pull tone control gives you the option of all 4 coils on or just the two middle coils. A second toggle (on the upper bout) lets you select the standard magnetic pickups or the Piezo acoustic pickup, or both! The under-the-bridge piezo electric pickup lets you instantly go from rockin' electric guitar tones to sweet acoustic sounds without having to switch guitars. A separate volume knob controls the piezo pickup. The Music Man guitar's dual jacks give you the choice of running output either magnetic/stereo, or piezo/mono, or both. The Music Man John Petrucci signature guitar comes in a hardshell case.

The Ball family is the last of a dying breed, a family business making guitars and basses exclusively in the United States. Ball Family Reserve is a celebration of their heritage in instrument craftsmanship that features some of the finest figured tone woods and finishes available. These rare heritage pieces are offered in limited runs and makes available to the public instruments that were previously reserved for the Ball family and their loyal artists.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR 6 Koa Top with Piezo Electric Guitar:

I have been searching for a new guitar for some time now and have played many high end instruments. These JP models blow everything I have played out of the water. The intonation and action are perfectly set up when I receive them. No addition setup is required as with most new instruments. I have two of these now and plan on a few more.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR 6 Koa Top with Piezo Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar out of nowhere. I'm a fan of John Petrucci and his tone and I went out on a limb. I come from a long history of playing Les Pauls. Although I still prefer the neck profile and width of the Les Paul, but this guitar is super comfortable. The neck feels great all the way up to the 24th fret and is easy to reach. Even with the string hight low, there is very little fret buzz, well built. The Pickups are not hot at all, which I think works well with amps with high gain. You can push more gain and still have clarity. They have quite a bit of mids though, but I never notice when I'm playing out. It sounds great. You can scoop your mids and not loose them.

I love the fact that you can blend the piezo with the humbuckers with the top jack. It just adds a slight twang to your normal sound if you set it right, giving the guitar extra tones to use. I think the pickup selector and the blend switch could be reversed though. The tuners lock on the back of the headstock, it stays in tune very well. I can play almost 10 to 12 songs sometimes before I have to even think about tuning it again I have to say I hate tremolo bridges. I grow tired of adjusting the tension springs when I wanna change tunings. If I could get a fixed bridge I would hesitate, but it's a personal preference. All in all, this guitar gives the John Petrucci tone pretty well, at least the characteristics of it. I've only played this guitar through my Hughes and Kettner Triamp, so I can't say how it will sound through a different amp.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR 6 Koa Top with Piezo Electric Guitar:

This guitar comes with two DiMarzio humbucking pickups and a Piezo pickup under each string's bridge saddle. The electronics are the best I've heard in a "stock" guitar over my 40 year career. Even when splitting coils for that Strat-esque sound there is no hum or noise.

I have owned a Gibson ES345 since 1971 and it is beautiful instrument, still in almost mint condition. It has been my baby since I was a teenager. But this EB Music Man is better :-). This instrument is so well made!! The setup from the factory was better than even custom shops from other brands. My instrument is the Koa Top, Ebony Fretboard version. Nothing plays like this neck and fretboard. And yes, I've played most everything over 40 years. I play in a cover band (classic rock) and I only need to take one guitar around to gigs with me - gone are the days of taking 5 guitars to a gig. The DiMarzio split humbuckers, combined with the piezo pickups under each bridge saddle give this guitar an unrivaled sound. This Ernie Ball Music Man (John Petrucci model) sports a great tremolo bridge, locking Schaller tuners, Ebony fretboard, attractive Koa wood top, phenomenal electronics and it just plays like a dream. The case is plush, but excessively heavy. One of the latches sticks, from the first day I took it home. I think for the price I should be able to get a decent (and at the very least), fully functional guitar case. Its a pricey guitar, made entirely in the USA (California) but I don't begrudge even one cent that I spent on it. It even plays very sweet dinner jazz in addition to awesome rock music. I tried all the usual suspects (Gibson, Ibanez, Fender, Gretsch, PRS etc.) but didn't like any of them. I have owned this guitar for 6 months now and every time I touch it get the same experience I got the first time I touched it. After six months of constant use I still find it flawless. I give this guitar six out of five stars.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR 6 Koa Top with Piezo Electric Guitar:

I do not like the neck pup and will be switching it soon enough. However, that being said. Big deal... This thing is awesome!!!!!
I absolutely love this axe... I traded a les paul standard and almost regretted doing so. Two weeks into owning it I made a deal to take it back and get a custom shop les Paul. I've yet to see the custom shop Paul and a/b the two.. However, this is possibly the best guitar I have played and I've had em all. I had les paul gas for years and have had many. I never bonded with a guitar more than what i have this one. It will be hard to turn it down while testing the silverburst custom. I believe I will be keeping this one..
Best built guitar I've ever owned. Absolutely no flaws. Unlike a lot if other companies as of late.
        Expensive. But a great axe.
