A 10-year collaboration produces a more evolved signature model.

The awesome Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar commemorates 10 years of collaboration between Music Man and Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci. With a slightly enlarged contoured alder body, ebony fingerboard with custom JP inlays and 24 jumbo frets, the Petrucci signature guitar also has a select mahogany neck. The updated body shape has a slightly thinner upper horn and a more symmetrical bridge end profile. The guitar's body is chambered for added acoustic resonance.

The Petrucci JPX-6 guitar neck is super secure with a 5-bolt joint and a rounded heel that lets you comfortably access the entire fretboard. Black chrome hardware includes a custom John Petrucci Music Man piezo floating tremolo, and reliable Schaller M6-IND locking tuners.

The John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 is loaded with high-output humbucking pickups and a piezo pickup built into the tremolo bridge for both scorching electric and sweet acoustic guitar sounds. Traditional magnetic pickups include a DiMarzio Liquifire humbucker in the neck position and a DiMarzio Crunch Lab humbucker in the bridge position.

A specially-wired 5-way switch gives you access to the individual pickup coils so that you can combine them in both traditional and unique ways making the Music Man Petrucci guitar a sonic powerhouse. Traditional pickup controls include master volume and tone knobs. The acoustic piezo pickup gets its own separate volume control. A 3-way toggle switches you from the magnetic pickups to the piezo pickup, or combines both.

Dual output jacks give you the option of running either Piezo/Mono (output 1) or Magnetic/Stereo (output 2). Music Man includes a hardshell case with the signature John Petrucci JPX-6 guitar.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar really not knowing what to expect...though my expectations were very high. I tried the JP6 model at my local music store to get an idea of the neck shape/feel. Otherwise, I ordered the guitar blind after only reading reviews/watching countless hours of videos.

This guitar puts everything I have to shame and my expectations were blown away. I have been playing guitar for 15 years, and I have never been more impressed with a guitar. The fit and finish/attention to detail are literally flawless. The versatility with the pick-up combo, 5-way toggle, and the piezo system is limitless. The guitar is comfortable to hold and is quite effortless to play. First MM guitar and certainly not my last. My ONLY complaint(as mentioned in the MM forums) is that it is impossible to capture the beautiful barolo paint job in a photograph. Nobody realizes just how flawless and colorful it is until they see it in person.

I would highly recommend picking up any MM JP model and trying them out. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and may just find yourself in love(don't make the mistake I made and constantly talk to your wife about the guitar as though she was some online mistress...).

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Musiciansfriend.com (specifically Dustin Deffendall!) for their unsurpassed customer service and communication. You guys have found a lifetime customer.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar:

I've been looking for a guitar that could play all style of music(jazz to death metal...).And also replace the idea of buying and acoustic/electric.
I've looking at all the JP model for a few weeks and I really wanted and ebony fingerboard. Aside from the BFR with the koa top wich was out my price range, there was the JPX and the JPXI. I opted for the JPX 'cause of the 5-way lever pickup selector and the chambered body.
This is the best guitar I've played in 20 years!
I really like mixing the piezo with a clean sound on the magnetic,so rich I don't need a chorus anymore. And the Liquifire neck pickup has a nice vintage sound when it's not too overdriven.
A very versatile guitar I highly recommend it.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar:

I apologize for my English. Overall, this guitar is beautiful, a work of art, an instrument that meets all the requirements that a guitarist search. I recommend this guitar to any musician who wants a guitar with a unique timbre.
Such a great guitar, with the piezo bridge and the Dimarzio Humbuckers I got all kinds of tone i'm looking for. Very happy with the way I can play different types of music using the same guitar!
Top quality, beautiful finish, wonderful painting, well built.
It is worth every penny paid.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar:

From the first time I saw this Guitar I was planning how and when I could add it to me collection. The paint job on the guitar and neck alone had me SOLD. And when I finally got it delivered it was packaged with care and planning. My son flipped and said please dont ever sell it. Well, I wont because it plays so easy the strings play themselves. Tapping is a breeze. And the Tone, take your pick, you can select any pickup combination from electric to acoustic, Even without an amp the Barolo wood was deep and warm, while my other electrics were thin sounding. Easily worth the money, and other guitars are not always...Thank you John P.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar:

Amazing neck. Great Feel. Piezo sounds just like a acoustic/electric through a p.a. or an acoustic amp. This makes for tons of options for your playing. Go Play one!!! Fast, Fast Neck... Great for us normal guys with regular to short fingers... first time in my life I'm not jealous of the long fingered Vai's or Gilberts... GO Play it! you will not be sorry.

This is a very good instrument.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar:

I played this today at guitar center, and was very impressed with the versatility of the instrument. The five way switch allows for many coil combinations between the two excellent humbuckers, and the piezo pickups allow for very interesting clean tones (especially when you mix the piezo and magnetic pickups. I played it through a 6505+ and a dual rectifier and was able to make some very nice metal tones. The gain was very saturated and crunchy while remaining very controlled. The chambered body made the tone much more open and organic. I also like how BFR uses multiple types of wood for it's bodies. This one has a nice blend of alder, mahogany, maple, and ebony, making the tone a little on the warm side, but still very balanced. All in all, it's a fantastic, but expensive, buy. You won't be disappointed.
