One of my old guitar teachers had a PRS Custom 22. I fell in love with that thing all over again every time I played it. The only problem was that 3,000 was way out of my price range. I spent long hours online searching for guitars that might be comparable to that amazing guitar. I came across this particular esp while looking at my options for any guitar in my price range. The first thing that captivated me was the looks. Anyone looking at this has got to admit that this guitar is absolutely unique in its appearance. so i looked into this guitar extensively on many different websites and forums. I had trouble finding very much negative in regards to this guitar. Well it just so happened that on vacation a few months later, I entered a music shop with this guitar hanging on the wall. As you can assume, this was the first thing I picked up, and I kid you not, I spent 3 hours playing this guitar in that music shop. I could hardly tell a difference between this guitar and my teacher's PRS!! I was so excited when I left the store!! Being 14 years old at the time, I had to talk to my dad about it, who told me he wasn't going to buy it. So I waited. for 4 years I waited for this guitar. Finally, I got it!! I have been playing it for over a year now and am extremely happy with it!! I am an active musician playing between 3 and 6 shows a week, and this guitar is has never let me down!! No major problems with it, but the few problems I have had are things like the jack coming loose, which is something that almost every guitar will encounter. Overall, This is an amazing guitar for people of all skill levels!! The fret board is super fast, the thin neck is great for shredding lead solos and the pick ups are deep enough to get some great chucks out of even an overdrive pedal!! No need for distortion with this ax, I promise that!! The clean tones are super warm and smooth through my fender superchamp tube amp. This guitar is so good that even my old teacher with the PRS was amazed at how smooth it was when he compared it to his guitar!! I say if you're looking for a new guitar for metal, for church, or anything in between, look no further, you've met your destination!!

Very good guitar in general, for its price, and if you are interested in giving it a new pickup, then this guitar will go a long way. I've been playing for 7 and a half years, and I've had this guitar for 5.

Price:
When it comes to guitars, price is a very huge deciding factor for most enthusiasts.
For it's price, I think this guitar is very good for how cheap it is. The only thing you lose on this guitar over say a $500+ guitar, is the stock pickup quality. They're not terrible, but they don't have any good tone at all.

Playability:
Intonation. This is probably the biggest drawback I can imagine, which is small in the scope of the pro's for this guitar. On certain strings, the higher you play the more out of pitch the notes go compared to where they should be. Most people wouldn't mind this so much, but this is one of the biggest failings on this guitar. If you're looking to practice or jam with some friends, then it's a perfect guitar. But because of the poor intonation, and if you need to play in-tune with other instruments or singers, then it isn't as reliable.
To go around this, if you have a very nice set of balanced-tension strings, such as the D'addario NYXL strings, then this problem is diminished greatly, but still noticeable.

Pickups:
The stock pickups are somewhere between mediocre and sub-mediocre, but are by no means bad. Especially if you're starting to learn to play and don't really mind too much for tone, then this isn't a problem at all. If you know how to solder, or are willing to pay someone to solder for you, you can replace the pickups very easily. I took out the stock bridge pickup and put in an EMG-HZ H4A, a very strong passive pickup. If you're willing to put in a little extra money, this guitar will take you a long way.

This guitar is very nice and I would recommend this to anyone ranging from novice to intermediate experience with guitars. It's very simple and cheap, and if you can overlook its flaws, it' a very versatile guitar.

Comments about ESP F-50 Electric Guitar:

This was my upgrade from a beginner/starter pack back in 2005, purchased from MF. Out of the box, the first problem I had was a poor setup; the high E string wouldn't sit properly in the nut. Secondly, the headstock paint did not match the body. There was a large scratch in the electronics panel in the back. On the other hand, once everything was in working order, it played pretty smooth with low action. Adjustments from the bridge are quick and easy to make as well. The body paint does chip easily, as another review has stated. In any case, it is meant to be played and it plays pretty well for the novice with experience.

Comments about ESP F-50 Electric Guitar:

So, I've been a bass player for the last 6 1/2 years. Now, that is not to say I don't know my way around a guitar too. I'm not going to describe when I found it, and fell in love with it, or how it's the best guitar ever. I will say, for this price, this instrument is a beast. The neck is thin and fast (as expected with ESP Guitars), the beautiful body and it's contours are accompanied by hot pickups (stock, by the way), and the hardware is very nice given the cost. The electronic layout is very simple: Volume, 3 way pickup select (neck, neck/bridge, bridge), and tone in that order. In regards to the volume and tone, I suggest that you tighten the nuts in the knobs as one of mine fell off two days after I purchased the instrument. The pot and wiring didn't fall out with it. Just the knob.

All in all, I love this guitar, and I suggest that if you are in the market for a cost-friendly axe, consider this guitar, or at least consider ESP and support metal guitar companies!!!

    Great For Beginners

    By

    from inland northwest

Comments about ESP F-50 Electric Guitar:

I have a high opinion since I've had mine for a long time. I got it while they still game with black hardware, but there is little difference. If you are into shred and don't want a floyd rose, this is pretty good. If you just want to play rhythm its good too. Sounds mean distorted and gorgeous clean. It handles down-tunings and hevy gauge strings well, and you can play almost anyway. ESP delivers even on the small brand and cheap front.
Its basic. Tone, Volume, Pick-Up selector. I've custom modded mine with a killswitch and I wish I had another volume switch, but it gets the job done. Pickups are find, but are worth replacing too. Adjusting the truss rod can be a pain same with intonation.
This was second guitar and has served me well for 4 years now. No serious problems. It has flown, been dropped, scratched a little, and survived bad climate. Still plays the same as when I first got it.
Still kind of steep for a beginner. Though, you can justify putting some money into it to make it a awesome guitar.

I feel like i robbed the ESP guitar company with this for 300..

Comments about ESP F-50 Electric Guitar:

Im not gunna be an idiot like some others and say'this is better than gibson,or higher end guitars'because you get what you pay for,and no this cant stand up to a higher quality guitar, but for 300,icant get better than this.
    I give this a 8,only because the stock pickups aren't the best(muddy at times),i plan on changing.I wish I had a coil split,but for only 300, I wouldn't expect it to.
Iv had this for 3.5 years now,and its just as good-looking as the day ibought(Iv dropped few times, only one scrath on the back.)Its built better than my ibanez rg4ex1.
This thing is a breeze to play. Its got a wide fretboard with ex frets, making it superbly easy to play. Its got a great low end punch, thus great for heavier styles.I keep it in drop C because of its great low end.

    Great guitar

Comments about ESP F-50 Electric Guitar:

Ive had this guitar for over 4 years. For the price is a very good guitar as it is. I really like the playability of the guitar. The worst part of this guitar is the pick ups. They are decent pickups but if you change them it will really bring the guitar to life. I keep the guitar stock for a while but after changing the pickups it sounds as good as my ESP LTD EC-1000 Deluxe. I have a Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 on the neck, and a EMG-HZ ,which is basically the passive version of the EMG 81, on the bridge.

The Best Guitar I've Ever Bought

    By

Comments about ESP F-50 Electric Guitar:

I just Bought this from my local guitar store. I paid a hundred dollars for mine. I got it in black. I also traded in my Squire By Fender Stratocaster and my Epiphone Junior Les Paul. This is by far the best guitar I've ever owned. When I brought it home I had a hell of a time trying to put it down. I even nick named it the demon. I highly reccommed this guitar to anybody.
