The ESP James Hetfield Truckster LTD Electric Guitar is the fifth Hetfield Signature Series guitar to carry his name since James and ESP joined forces in 1991. This latest guitar is manufactured to the exact specifications of James' Truckster, a modified ESP Eclipse-style stage guitar used on the St. Anger tour. This signature ESP Truckster features a multilayered finish strategically sanded through and fully distressed to simulate the original guitar.

First off, this is a really well constructed guitar with attention to detail. The fretwork is flawless and the setup from the factory was just about perfect. I have come to expect this kind of craftsmanship from ESP/LTD products, and have yet to be disappointed. After almost two weeks of ownership, I have to say that the tonal variety of the pickups is just amazing. I have always found active pickups to be a bit "sterile" but EMG has really changed my mind with the "Het Set" signature pickups. If you think this guitar is all about Metallica, I would have to call you out. The truckster shines regardless of the pickup setting and has a bottom end like I have not heard from active pickups before. The neck pickup is simply amazing in my opinion, and I have been able to dial up a variety of inspiring tones.
Even if you don't like signature guitars, don't be afraid to give this one a shot. The truckster isn't a one trick pony, but rather an instrument with tremendous versatility!

I owe this instrument for over a half of a year and Im absolutely satisfied. It plays and sounds really great. It designed really great and looks very cool. What is especially cool for me is the locking tuning system, which makes the process of changing strings very quick. There are only two disadvantages I found: only 22 frets and the weight. Its very heavy, but I got used to it after about a week of playing. And this guitar is not for funk music because of its humbucker pickup system. But if youre playing metalits the best choise. Im satisfied and I dont want any another guitar for metal. Its worth it.

This guitar feels great in the hands, the sound is phenomenal. It looks great (matter of opinion) The sperzels make string change a breeze, but it does detune fairly often (mabey just mine?).I would recommend this guitar..

Alright I have owned several LTD models, Epiphone models, and several Gibson Les Pauls. This guitar can with out a doubt hold its own against those. It sounds great distorted and on a clean tone it sounds beautiful. Obviously sounds great for music like Metallica and you can get plenty of sounds from it, but, I think you are better off getting a nice epiphone and changing out the pickups. The les pauls by epiphone and gibson just feel better. They are in my opinion built better. Gibsons might be out of your price range but for less than this guitar get an epi of your color and swap out the pickups and you have just as good or a better guitar.

I bought this guitar in early 2008 and was blown away by now nice it sounded even on my crappy little marshall microstack. I eventually upgraded to a Marshall AVT 50 and now it sounds ridiculous. This guitar is very versatile, you can play anything on it and it'll give you the right tone. The EMGs really pack a punch on distortion, once you find the right settings you'll never want to try a different sound. Even though this guitar was built for a rhythm player, it sounds awesome when used for leads. All the notes cut through clearly and the sustaine is just beautiful. The neck is very comfortable, it's very thin and it's very easy to access the higher frets, surprisingly great for shredding. The guitar also looks amazing. Interesting fact: all of the LTD Trucksters apparently have different paint jobs on them, so your truckster will be unique to you. I must say, I was a bit angry when ESP released it in black, but I still do love my grey one. One of the best things about the finish is that even if you bump it or scratch it or whatever, it will just look like part of the design. Unless of course you break into the wood or have some other serious accident. Overall, it's a great guitar, it's the best sounding guitar I've got and I love using it. If you've got the money, get this guitar, you won't be sorry.

why is an ltd guitar so much money? they used to be an entry level esp, but now, just like epiphone to gibson, they have become much more expensive due to popularity/name recognition. this guitar is the same as the eclipse 1000, only with james hetfields name on it, so it really depends on how much you like the paint job.

This is another well built guitar from ESP. The LTD model is no disappointment and is well worth it's cost. The combo mahogany body and neck create a rich thunderous sound. Clean - this guitar has a crisp clear tone with a thick accent. When pushing through distortion/overdrive - it delivers a thick and clear tone.The factory setup was perfect and played like a dream right out of the box.Definitely worth it!

Ok, all I can say is, WOW! This guitar is incredible! Monster sustain, lots of punch and even hetfeild settings which are amazing! This is clear when i wnat it clear, when on distortion, the news gets better. This guitar is a MONSTER! The paintjob looks cool, so does the fact that the toggle switch on top is inactive, but don't worry, you still got the one on the bottom which is all you need! The EMGs on this thing are just EPIC! I recommend this guitar for anyone who knows what a real guitar should be!

I played this guitar at my local music store, and I have to say that this is a great guitar. Its extremely comfortable to play, and its a lot thinner than the Gibson Les Pauls which I usually dont like.The sound is amazing - the EMGs are very nice.Of course this guitar looks great too, so everyone who can afford one, and loves to play hard rock or metal, should buy this guitar.
