Ok the EMGS are just AWESOME, but I kinda dont like to change their batteries :S .. anyway perfect sound, perfect sustain. My complaints: 1. Its really heavy, I was used to my old Gibson flying V, and this ax weights a whole lot more, Ive had it for almost a year and I still cant be able to get through my setlist without gettin tired. 2.You have to be really careful with the paint, Its so fine youll f it up if you go crazy on stage, as it happened to me. lol. 3. It IS hard to play, dont know why the whole neck needs so much pressure from my fingers to play good. I do drop C and use .13 strings. not even my old flying v has to be played so hard, it certainly gives my hand a lot of work to do. My honest opinion: great sound, but very hard to play live. I use this mainly for studio sessions.BTW I lifted up a bit the bridge pickup and it screams so brutal!!!!
I played this just a few days ago and this guitar rocks. The neck thru construction gives massive sustain and the EMGs are great. This is not a beginners guitar though... but if you want a guitar that has everything you will ever dream, BUY THIS GUITAR NOW.
I got this guitar last Friday, and it plays like a dream. Great sound, great looks, and is just all around fun to play. I have been playing it non-stop for almost 3 days, I love it.
I got this guitar because I wanted something that would rip for metal and looked awesome, too.It succeeded at both those, for the most part... but it does have some issues.First the good stuff: EMGs sound amazing. Crunchy but really clean and tight. The construction is for the most part top quality, with the neck joint being indistinguishable! The looks are also amazingly killer, and the earvana nut really helps with intonation. However, the neck is quite large. I was surprised; it's bigger than the neck on my Epiphone SG! I had played them in the store prior and thought something was weird, but only when I got it home and tried it out did I notice. Oh well. Also, a problem I've had with every Korean guitar I've tried: The nut wasn't glued in properly. This seems to constantly happen with my guitars.
When I felt that I needed a new guitar, the AX-400 really caught my eye more than anything else I've seen. And, of course, it's a beautiful guitar. I've tried many guitars, and only a select few matched the feel that I like, so I was worried about ordering this guitar without trying it. As soon as it came out of the box (with perfect factory setup, no less), it took me a moment to get over just how awesome this guitar looks. I tuned it up and played some of my favorites, and it immediately became clear that I'd made an excellent choice. It's a great-looking, fast guitar that's easy to play and sounds excellent. The sustain is great, as well, and I haven't had to adjust the tuning since I got it about three weeks ago. I definitely recommend it.
I recently received this guitar as a christmas present. I couldn't be happier. The second I picked it up I could just tell it was a quality guitar. It has a very heavy feel, and the fret board is pretty wide (compared to my other guitars), which I like because I have pretty big hands. I plugged this into my little Line 6 Syder, and the sound was great. Sounds awesome on distortion, and the clean is very bright sounding. I couldn't be happier.
To play this guitar is an awesome experience, not only for its unique sound but for the looks! I must say, although, it's a wild horse to ride. You'll spend a lot of time trying to find the adequate way to play it cause is not a conventional guitar. But once you make your way through it, you'll see it's exceptionally great to do heavy riffs, fast picking solos and arpeggios, and of course it gives you the most beautiful clean tone (long live EMG!)You'll maybe have some "cleaning issues" because of the painting it uses so you must take good care of it, like your car. One more thing, don't worry if you don't know the perfect sound processor for the AX, it will fit into any effects box. Just be shure to have the correct amplifier. My recommendation, use Marshall.
This guitar is phenomenal, not only does it look good, it has all the specs to go with it. The emgs are nice and crunchy but they have a great clean sound too. Great for metal! Worth every pennny you wont be dissapointed
The unstopable sustain is amazing as are the killer looks of the AX- 400. I had a problem with what I consider the only flaw with all of the AX Guitars Which is the Bridge. I put mine in the shop to have it reversed be cause when you want to adjust intonation it is dificult when the screws are so close to the pick-ups. By reversing it you have the whole open end without buggering up your screws. Other than that, it's a heathan Metaler. Than I customized it!!!
To begin, the sheer quality of this guitar amazes you. What I have is the LTD AX-400FM,with a brilliant see-thru black finish and tribal inlays that look wicked! The guitar overall is typically ESP,very high quality. The EMG 81's sound excellent, and they are extremely powerful, yet a pair of EMG 81's is not as good as pairing one with a 85 or 60. Still, the guitar handles distortion with ease, and the cleans are good. The guitar has fine sustain. However, you may consider switching the 81 in the neck for a 60/85/89.At this pricepoint, it's one of the best guitars at the price. The only thing you'd miss is a Floyd Rose Tremolo on this, I'm not an avid user of it and need to change my tunings often, but there should be a AX-401 model with a Tremolo...But all in all, it's a great guitar and I recommend it to everyone.ESP /m/
