First off this guitar looks amazing. I knew from the first moment I saw it I would own it. It's got me hooked on the reversed headstock look too.Quality wise it's a mixture of good components (emg pickups, floyd rose, and grover tuners) and standard 'cheap' korean manufacturing quality. The graphic is just a silk screen and the black 'binding' on the body is just painted on. There is no binding on the neck and it kind of feels like a cheap guitar, not the smooth as butter feel you get when you go to the real esp or other high end guitars. The high end ibanezes are in this price range and play much much better. I don't really mind it as I find I improve faster on a guitar that is slighly difficult to play anyway so this has ended up as my main practice axe. If they sold an actual esp (outside of a custom built one which is out of my price range) with these features I would buy it in a heartbeat. The tone knob also has an active volume boost built into it and with some amps you can get a really interesting nes bleeping square wave tone out of it (perhaps my amp clips the input signal or something).

When I bought the Dan Jacobs guitar I had high hopes. When I bought the guitar, I was disappointed. This guitar is made in korea. It is also made with very cheep parts. First, the neck of the guitar was hevier than the body. Every time I let go of the neck, the neck took a huge nose dive. Second, the bridge is not aligned properly, so when the guitar was tuned to drop d down one step, the A string buzzed so much that you couldn't get any sound out of it at all. The pickups sounded very plasticy at times, which made the sound kinda bad. The only good thing about this guitar was the blood graphic. It was pretty cool, but the graphic was not worth $. Don't buy this guitar. THIS IS NOT THE GUITAR THAT DAN JACOBS PLAYS ON STAGE!!!!!!!

An Amazing Signature Model!

By Ryan X-8

from Texas

I was immediately attracted to this guitar because of the obvious. I later found that the feel and tone of this guitar is truely amazing though. I was excited the first day I picked it up til present (2 years later). Hands down worth the money for a great sound and awesome design.

You can't beat this axe

By TakeToTheSkies guitarist

This guitar is perfect for anyone who wants to play metal. Yes, of course floyd rose tremolos make stringing and tuning tedious, but for what you get with this axe, it's worth it. This guitar looks as great in person as it does in the pictures. I bought this a few months ago. At first I was hesitant about keeping it, but after a couple of weeks of getting a good feel for the guitar I decided to keep it. Best decision I couldve made. I love explorer and ex bodies and this guitar puts it over the top with the blood graphics on top of snow white body. The bat inlay is very cool. The emg 81/85s are flawless. Theres no need to replace the factory pickups on this baby. Its a REAL floyd rose, Yes. I love the afterburner on this guitar too. overall, I give it an A+ but thats only if you don't mind and are used to the floyd rose or else it could be a bit to adjust to. Yea, you could get a schecter hellraiser with most of the same features for cheaper but there is no way you can beat the look and feel of this guitar. You won't be disappointed! BUY THIS GUITAR!

Buy this thing!!!

By m37al_man

This guitar is all out brutal in the best of ways. The blood graphic on snow white, with black binding: Stunning! The pickups scream like any good EMG's should, but the "Afterburner" control adds that crucial gain boost you need to make a solo sear. The original Floyd Rose is brilliant. I have a love affair with original Floyds. It stays in tune, handles drop tunings, and anything else you can throw at it. However, the tuner are no longer locking, as in the 2007 model, and the powdercoated black hardware has been replaced with ESP's "black nickel" finish, which isn't quite as cool... The bat inlays are cool, but I wish the fretboard was made of ebony and had 24 fret not 22, but that's not biggie. The neck is smooth as butter and easy to sweep on. I highly recommend this guitar for any player in the rock, punk, or metal genre. It's worth the cash.

Does Not Dissapoint

By SBoyRulesYou

Ok, I saw Dan play this guitar and thought "man that thing is awesome". So when I found out they made one just like it, I obviously got it. When I got it out and played it for the first time, I was blown away! The pickups are perfect for anything from really calm and soothing pieces, to what this thing was designed for... METAL! The neck is nice and thin making it easy to play and the EMG After-Burner adds so much extra for those pinched harmonics. All this coupled with a Floyd Rose and a sweet paint job make this guitar completely awesome. I even prefer this one to my Les Paul(most of the time).

Interesting Guitar...

By RockaRolla

from NY

When I was at my local guitar shop, I saw this guitar and laughed at the paint job (maybe the real guitar's paint job wasn't done with paint alone?) but when I played this guitar, I realized that looks and sound are always equal when it comes to guitars. Even though this is not the best guitar for me (best for me: Fender Highway One Stratocaster), but I would probably use this guitar as my secondary if I need the EMG sound and a tremolo besides a Fender Syncronized. But if you want a killer guitar with a killer sound, buy the ESP LTD Dan Jacobs EX Electric Guitar(but under any circumstances, don't fall asleep while playing, trust me...).

Not what is pictured, But Still Cool

By EricInNY

from NY

First, wanted to say that I do love my new Dan Jacobs pro model. I also have a Les Paul, and find the neck on the ESP easier to play on. I was going to get a Gibson Explorer, but then saw the Dan Jacobs and had to have that sort of the Explorer shap with a Floyd Rose. Plus I am a Atreyu and 80's music fan. This guitar screams cheesy 80's-ness :)One thing to keep in mind is that the guitar pictured here is not what you get. The new version of this guitar does not have locking tuners, the hardware is now a black chrome not the black powdercoated kind in this picture, and Dan Jacobs signature is no longer on the headstock. ESP's website shows the latest version of the guitar.

Live, Love, Burn, Die 4 this axe!

By The Theif

from Washington DC

i just bought this guitar for my birthday present to myself. i've been searching for a guitar with emg pickups and a tremolo that plays great but won't blow up my wallet. this is it! this is buy far the best guitar i've ever played (coming from a gibson owner). this esp plays beautifully by itself but sounds amazing through a boss metalcore pedal. sound like dan jacobs himself. i've also used the travis miguel signature, which can not compare to the dan jacobs. i am very short and i have small hands so the weight and the neck have to fit me just right. dan jacobs himself is only about 5 feet tall. the guitar is as light as a feather and the neck is nice and thin to wrap ur fingers around. yes, i know, it's an LTD korean made esp, but for how amazing this baby plays and feels who really gives a crap?

Awesome

By Anonymous

I have had this guitar for about a year. This guitar is for purely metal. The rhythm and neck pickups are awesome. The emgs do quite a good job, but a tad plastic sounding at times. But still hella good. The floyd is the best I have ever played. Stays in tune no matter how much you use the bar. The tuners are rather cool, too. Makes changing strings fairly easier. The neck is what I really love about this thing. It just fits me. It cuddles you when you play it. My only gripe is that it is a 22 fret neck. It is a very hardy guitat too. As with all esps you can beat the shit out of it and it still works. Holds up well when travelling. I would suggest this over anything for the price.

JUST AMAZING!!!!!!

By Triple Six

The ESP LTD Dan Jacobs EX Electric Guitar is easy on the eyes aswell as on the ears. The EMG 85's are simply the most amazing pickups i've ever had the pleasure of using. The blood-drip graphic also isnt a bad feature!
