The ESP LTD Dave Mustaine Signature DV8-R brings together some of Dave's favorite designs in one killer instrument. It has mahogany neck-thru-body construction, a 25-1/2" rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, a TonePros locking bridge, individual string-thru-body tail, and a set of Dave's signature Seymour Duncan Live Wire pickups. It also has a mahogany body, Sperzel locking tuners, Dunlop flush-mount straplocks, and black hardware. A cool 8-ball inlay on the 1st fret is the finishing touch.

okay so i got this guitar for a graduation present from my mom and it is by far the best i have ever played. i go to guitar center now and dont really play any of the guitars because i just love this one too much. its got the smoothest action and neck and just every thing about it is awesome. the only problem i had was i had to adjust the action to get best harmonic pickup performance, and i wish the strap hooked up somewhere beside behind the neck, but i've learnd to work arround that. buy this amazing peice of craftsmanship
Forget the fact that this is a signiture guitar. With a neck thru body, jumbo frets and Duncan pickups this guitar is a great all rounder in sound and feel. The strap locks are a great added bonus. This is my first real metal guitar and so far I've been really happy with it. It's super long so buy the proper ESP case.
The ESP DV8-R is incredible. Perfect distortion and clean tones, perfect neck and action, everything about it is perfect. The Livewire pickups are really good, not as good as an EMG 81, nothin' beats an EMG 81, but still, the Livewires are good for any style of music. And despite what ANYONE says, it is very comfortable and easy to play the DV8-R while sittin' down. Long story short, if you want a perfect guitar, then you should buy the DV8-R, 'cause its the best, no questions asked !!!!!
The LTD DV8-R is one the greatest metal guitar I have ever played. It second only to the ESP DV8. I have owned this V for about a couple of months and I'm extremly impressed.The Sprezel locking tuners are a huge time saver when restringing the guitar. The neck on this guitar is extremly fast and the jumbo frets make it perfect for shred. Having the Livewire active pickups gives the guitar an incredible power, edge, and distortion. It is awesome for playing both leads and riffs. The DV8-R in combination with a Mesa Boogie Road King Dual Rectifier amp achieves the perfect distortion. I recomend that every metal guitarist should own this guitar.
This guitar is worth every penny, I was very pleased with everything about it, great tone, fast playability, huge frets, just awesome. Sounds and feels like a real ESP, for thousands less.
I was skeptical about buying this git because even though I love Megadeth, their sound is not MY sound. But I have seen many other well-known artists using this so I thought I would give it a shot. I am a big V-shape fan so I figured how bad could it be? Well I am not only surprised I am completely dumbfounded! This is incredible sounding guitar. Very, very tight with distortion and amazing punch. The most punch I have heard in a guitar. Very high quality, I am most pleased. Although I wish the case was included. Good job ESP
I own this DV8R in silver. It plays really great and has a fast neck. The active PU's are perfect for metal of all types. Clean tones are not the best since the PU's are very hot. The finish is really good, I did find a small bump in the paint where the V fins meet, but you can't really see it. I have a Jackson DK2, Fender HM strat, and Epiphone Les Paul custom Limited Edition Midnight and it plays better than the Jackson and maybe? Even better than the others. It is a good value too because ESP gave it top notch hardware and features. I play it through my Marshall VS265 into two Behringer 4 x12 cabs and it REALLY sounds good with alot of low end.
I got this guitar used for $***. At that point, i didn't know as much as i should about guitars, and I picked it because of it's looks. Thinking back on it, I got extremely lucky! This guitar has such low action on it, it feels like your playing on air. It sounds great, looks great. It is perfectly suited for metal, but it is also good for other styles.
