This is the first guitar I've ever bought without seeing or playing it first, and my expectations were exceeded tremendously! I even purchased a Seymour Duncan JB pickup for the bridge because I wasn't expecting much out of the stock pickups....however, the stock pickups have been a surprise as well and I don't think I'll be swapping them out after all! The guitar showed up in beautiful condition - no blemishes, and was even properly set up right out of the box. I recorded my band's newest single with this guitar, and I rocked it in our music video as well. You can see and hear this baby in action right here, check it out!

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

There are not too many reviews out on this guitar so I thought I would throw a quick one in.
You will not be disappointed if you are looking for an LP style guitar for a bargain price.
In my opinion and after owning some of the other lower end guitars this one is way above the pack.
It does not come across as cheap in any way. It feels good, sounds great even with these stock pickups. The push/Pull feature really expands your tones on the fly.
I can't speak of longevity yet, but if this guitar doesn't start falling apart it will be one of my best gear purchases ever.
If this is an indication of the entire LTD line, I think I just found an affordable line of guitars to start collecting!

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

I've played this guitar a couple dozen times at my local GuitarCenter and absolutely love it.It is a massively versatile guitar doing excellent ranging all the way from Kenny Wayne Shepard and Lynyrd Skynyrd to stuff as heavy as Metallica, Godsmack, and Lamb Of God with surprising ease.It has great balance and in my oppinion is much more comfortable than a Les Paul and only a fraction of the price. My only complaint is that the top hat style knobs make it a bit awkward when splitting the coils but this is a very simple fix. Still I cannot wait until I have the extra cash to pick one up for myself.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar because I thought it was beautiful. I had no idea how much fun it would be to play. I own a Gibson les paul, a fender strat, fender tele and such as well. But I love to play this thing. It looks great. The finish on it was high quality. The fret work was great as well. The pickups sounded great in humbucking mode. I was prepared for them to sound awful split, but they sounded great. My les paul is split as well, but doesn't sound as good split as this one does. I can use this guitar and get a usable strat sound and tele sound as well as a good Les Paul sound. I highly recommend this guitar to any one. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

I recently picked up this guitar from the used wall at my local Guitar Center. I now own the LTD EC-256 MGO (which stands for Goldtop.) The color is the only feature of my guitar that is different from the guitar seen on this website. When I first picked up the guitar, I noticed that the tone knob and push/pull pot on my guitar were ineffective. No big deal for me, as it's a pretty simple fix. And GC was nice enough to knock off 10% of the price because of it! The fact that the tone knob didn't work indicated that the wiring maybe isn't the best, but the guitar is pretty dinged up, so I don't know what it may have been through in the past. I love this guitar. being the versatile instrument that it is, I play this thing in a hardcore band (think Code Orange Kids, Full of Hell, etc.) and I also play it in an indie pop band. In my own spare time, I like playing experimental jazz. It delivers great clean tones as well as gnarly heavy ones. Plays very very well. Intonation is spot on. There is very minor fret buzz on the third fret of the low E string, but one cannot hear it through an amplifier, so it's really no issue. This thing is built like a tank. At shows, specifically hardcore shows, things tend to get thrown around some. This guitar holds up great! The ONLY things that I'm not a huge fan of are the pickups. They're just a tad bit lacking in the tone department, but like I said, they still sound pretty decent. For this price range, the guitar as a whole is definitely a steal. I may be replacing pickups soon, but that is the only thing I desire to change.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

Don't let the lower price-point turn you away from checking out this guitar. It is a "player" in every sense. Comfortable neck, excellent fretwork, great intonation along the entire neck. Lightweight, easy on the shoulder but the best surprise is the coil-tap feature. I played this through a Fender Twin at the store and not only does it provide beefy humbucker tones but the tap ability gives up a sweet Strat-like quack. This is a SOLID gig-worthy working tool. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

This ESP has the fit and feel of a much more expensive instrument. The finish is striking, the hardware is excellent quality and it plays wonderfully. I have owned many guitars over the years but this is my first ESP. It was such an awesome sale price right before Christmas I thought I would buy one and check it out.
I am happy I did! I am truly amazed at the quality for the price. It looks, feels and plays like guitars in a much higher price range. I have paid much more and gotten less in the past. Truly a great value. This guitar is much heavier than I expected which is a good thing. It has a nice tone and plays easy.
The only thing I have done is lower the action a bit and raise the pickups. The intonation was spot on even after lowering the bridge so that was awesome.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-256 Electric Guitar:

I took a chance on one of these as a SDOTD, because I've been wanting to expand my options beyond my Stratocaster and since these get generally good reviews and since I could never dream of paying up for a genuine Les Paul, I figured it was a no-brainer. When the guitar arrived, I was a bit alarmed because the shipping box was pretty flattened, and while UPS was still there I opened it and found the inner original factory box beat up but OK. MF should really rethink it's packing priorities, but that's for another story. I took it out of the box and found it was pretty close to being in tune, and the set up was almost perfect - imagine that! This guitar is obviously made to surprisingly good quality standards, and I got the faded cherry which is pretty bright but very attractive at the same time, with the nice curly maple top. The body is SOLID (no cavities other than for wiring and pots, etc.) so it's not light, but not quite as heavy as a Les Paul, so that's good. The neck is WONDERFUL, very slim and not much more of a handful than my Strat, although it has a slightly "U" profile, still very comfortable. Neck was arrow-straight, and after a quick string change (automatic with me, changed to .009's) and a slight re-tweeking of the intonation and bridge height, it played like a dream! I'm totally blown away by the way this guitar sustains, and the best part is that I played it for over an hour and it stayed IN TUNE throughout the many bends and power chords. I really had to remind myself that this guitar cost me less than 3 bills! The finish had only a very few little imperfections here and there, really had to look closely to find them, and the fret job was perfect, no sharp ends. Only negatives were the mahogany body had some dark streaking, and I really don't understand the backwards volume pot configuration w/ ESP(bridge is toward front, neck is in rear!) but that can be changed. All in all, a seriously good guitar, and should serve me well. GET ONE!

Very light weight, well balanced, and the tummy cut, makes this an LP you can play sitting down without a strap. It is absolutely one of the most comfortable to play LP style guitars I've ever played. Played clean the pickups leave a bit to be desired, but turn up the gain... and you'll have all the LP crunch, and sustain you can ask for.

This guitar is worth more than the three ninety nine regular price, at a stupid deal price of two forty nine… You'd be stupid not to buy it.

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years! heavy metal/hard rock! I picked this up for my kid and was really surprised at how well this guitar played and felt in my hands. Craftsmanship is really nice. I got this one used and it had EMG Pickups in it already but i did compare it to a new one with the original pickups. Still sounded very nice only chose the used one because it had upgraded pickups already and was still less than a new one. I would recommend this guitar to anyone starting out to an intermediate guitar player. This axe is ready to play in the band!!

Second one I bought first one came damaged they replaced it fast .. pickups are junk tone gone not warm at all my advice is to replace the junk pickups with Duncans or something with bite and tone . Second the intonation is off by miles needs to be set the action was ok but I lowered it it's much better now ..
The body is nice looks like a expensive guitar feels like it too awesome deal tuners are nice too the coil tap is useless with the junk pickups I'm sure once I add new ones it will be sweet .. right now it has little bite and sounds cheap no tone no warmth ok

Couldn't afford a real LP but there lower models are utter trash. So after playing some other brands that make an LP I went with the LTD 256. Love the color. Its on the heavy side but I like that. Gonna want to change the tuners and pickups. I did and now this thing SCREAMS. The frets will need a little sanding down. It will buzz if you put anything lighter than 10s on it. Sanding then down a little did the trick. But for 300, then like 200 for customizing, it will be a better guitar than any LP at the 1000 range

Small adjustments to this guitar help it quite a bit, intonation, pickup balancing, and bumping up to 0.010 strings improve it greatly. Very comfortable to play, good neck width, very good value!

This guitar was a steal when it was on sale. Little thinner then the regular EC's but I dig it. Figured i was going to rip out the pickups when I got it but they actually sound really good. Might leave it as is. Fret ends are a little sharp but still comfortable to play. Hard to beat at this price point.

ESP proves that a well-crafted guitar need not cost several paychecks. This guitar plays well, sounds rich and potent, and stays in tune. Nothing but compliments from other musicians and from audience members. I purchased this on SDOTD, and even if I hadn't, it would have been a great value. Want a Les Paul without the asking price? This is the one. Thanks ESP and MF!
