If you find one, get it.

I have had miine for a few years. It plays better, sounds better, and is made better than any Epi I ever played. It beats most Gibsons in terms of build quality, tone, and versatility. The stock JB/59 pickups are perfect for this guitar. It'll do Blues, Jazz, Rock, Metal, etc. They new model is the 401 and I have not played it so I can't comment on how the two compare - but the 400 is Korean and quality is top notch.

    Pleasantly Surprised

    By LPmaniac

I was a gigging guitar player 15-20 years ago. Last year I started playing again for fun and was looking for a moderate priced guitar that could handle multiple styles. I checked out the Epi's and was not impressed. I saw this baby hanging on the wall and gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. This guitar is versatile. It can handle metal/thrash and sounds great clean. It really comes alive with a little overdrive....sounding like vintage 1974.I don't know why they discontinued this model. You won't find a guitar that sounds as good as this with the same features at this price. If you happen to find one still hanging on the wall grab it. As has been said here the pictures do not do it justice. It looks even better. I have the Tobacco burst and couldn't be more pleased. This is a main axe and a keeper.

A great guitar for the money!

    By Stingray114

I just received my new ESP EC-400VF the other day and I was not disappointed at all. I own Gibson LP's and EPI's and this ESP (LTD) plays as well as the Gibson and better than the EPI. You can't beat the price for such a quality guitar. This guitar was set up very nicely; all I had to do was tune it. This is no doubt the smartest purchase that I have ever made. Another tone control knob would have been nice, but it still sounds great!

    EC-400VF

    By Anonminnom

Just received my new EC-400VF. Loved this guitar after playing it at a local music shop. Wanted to upgrade from my Epiphone Les Paul to a Gibson Studio but the ESP was a better value. Features on the guitar are excellent. Packaging was amazing when received. Intonation was almost perfect. Bass strings were a little flat but adjustment was easy. Tuning was obviously off but that is easily fixed. Finish is excellent and guitar plays extremely well! Love the cut away and balance of the guitar. If you don't have 1500K to spend on a Gibson this is definitely the way to go!

    Beautifull Guitar!!

    By Nando28

    from Puerto Rico

My ESP 400vf arrived today, I have to say.... This thing is an awesome guitar for the price. The attention to detail is amaizing! The Duncans pump out a beautifull bluessy kinda sound on the clean channel the sound very articulate and crisp with distortion. I gave the features 4.5 because I find the neck to be a bit big, but then again Gibson necks are big too so.... It is an awesome versatile guitar, I'd buy it again if it were stolen. If you are a metal player I recomend you check out the EC500 and EC1000 first.

This ESP is worth a look

    By Vinz

    from NY

Just got my ESP EC400VF yesterday. Arrived in immaculate condition, barring the fact that there was a size 12 converse sneaker footprint clearly imprinted over the top of the box. Suffice to say the inner packing held its own, however minimalistic it seemed. Set up was good, just droppped the action to suite my taste, Picks ups are very nice and the body as whole is very attractive especially in this tobacco sunburst. I am not a big EMG fan anyways, so the SD's are just perfect for me. Maybe a tad difficult to reach upper frets 17-21..which also reflects my skill level or lack thereof. Learnt fade to black within a day of receiving it. In one word I am satisfied and inspired to learn more.

    ESP 400-VF

    By nstoor1

I bought this guitar about a year ago and it is the best guitar I own. I was looking forward to get a gibson les paul but I was at a music store in San Antonio, and they did not sale much gibsons. If you like anywhere between Green Day, My Chemical Romance to The Devil Wears Prada, this is the guitar for you!

I have the ESP Eclipse II - not the LTD version. I just got the EC-400VF for a "back-up" last week and played my first gig with it. My $1400 Eclipse II is now my "back-up".This axe has a look, feel and sound that I cannot put into words. I am very, very pleased with it!

    Own it. Love it.

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Fit and finish is top notch with no visible flaws. The binding is tight and flat. Neck is perfect, action only needed to be lowered a fraction. The frets are smooth and tight with no sharp edges. All electronic pots and inputs are solid and free from buzz and noise. The JB bridge pickup is HOT. Perfect for Zeppelin, Rhoades, Skynard or GnR. The 59' neck pickup is mellow and perfect for rhythm, jazz and blues. I shopped for 6 months, playing every LP, SG, Flying V and the various clones available. This guitar is better fit, finish and electronics than LP studio, BFG or low end Gibson specials. The neck was more solid and comfortable than the Ibanez Art single cuts. The two volume controls beat out the PRS SE single cut for features. The tone is full and fills your ear through all tube Marshall stack or smaller solid state practice amp.Don't be fooled by the name on other guitars. Buy for quality and tone. I was prepared to spend 2x this for a mid priced, quality instrument, but didn't have to. Top shelf instrument for 1/3 the cost.
