Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

I've been playing guitar for more than 25 years and I've generally used Gibson SG's and Les Pauls played through Marshall amps... A few years ago I decided to give ESP's a shot and I was disappointed. The guitar was well-made but the good craftsmanship was wasted on some frikkin' awful pickups so I sent it back.
Then I heard that they were using real EMG's in their guitars so I gave ESP another chance. I've been happy ever since. It did need a setup after I changed the strings, but it wasn't that hard. It's played as smooth as butter ever since. The black finish is beautiful and tasteful. The EMG pickups roar and sing. The action is quick and the neck is comfortable. The electronics aren't cheapo. The Floyd Rose Special is a slight step below an Original Floyd Rose, but I think it is solid and will do the job for a few years. It's worth noting that getting an ESP case for it will cost a few extra bucks since it won't fit in a budget Les Paul-style case.
Overall, I say that this guitar is worth the price. Two thumbs up!

      Best of both worlds

Take a slim Les Paul with 24.75 super comfortable neck and a cutaway midsection.
Add a couple of frets to the total of 24.
Slap on a Floyd Rose that keeps it all in tune.
Top off with a pair of nice quiet EMG humbuckers.

On top of that - she's got the look: sleek, sexy, minimalistic design.
I am one of those painfully picky people. I truly mean it when I say that the quality is impeccable. I would say that it probably beats my brother's Korean made ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 FR.
Not the cheapest, but perfectly acceptable.

      Worth the money.

      By Zach Barnes

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

I'd probably buy another one if they made them in an oil or blonde finish. If that says anything.
I've had this guitar for a few weeks now, and I can't complain. For the price, you get all the goodies that a versatile guitar needs. The Floyd Rose Trem is great. I've had many. The pick ups are actual EMGs, not the lesser variety. I love a Les Paul body style, especially with a locking system, and especially in black. The neck feels great - slim, quick, nice proportional frets - fairly large ones. Not quite as heavy as an actual Les Paul, but feels similar. The body and neck are not as thick, but the carved top makes for a great looking guitar. It will need adjustment when it gets to your door. The action is silly high. If you aren't comfortable adjusting it yourself - Learn - it's easy. After I adjusted my trem and pick-up height, it played beautifully. The EMGs are of course considered high out-put, and really push your signal. Very crisp sounding electric guitar, plays fast, and plays anything well. Like I said, for the money, it's well worth it.
Looks and plays nicely. Feels comfortable.

Never gave ESP/LTD a shot before I bought this.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

I ordered this guitar on a whim, to be honest. I've never really considered owning an ESP or LTD, I've always been a Jackson man myself- but that's changed now. I love this guitar, the pick ups give you true to the bone metal flavor, along with nice crisp clean tones. The Floyd is a nice little extra too, this is my first Floyd so I'm still getting used to it. The neck is thin, and the playability is amazing. All-in-all, I would be this guitar every time over others in this price range.

      Excellent Guitar!!

      By Mucker

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

Got this guitar about 2 weeks ago. I've been playing it non-stop since. Extremely great playing guitar. Very easy to play. Nice fast neck. Great sound from the EMGs. Floyd Rose trem is stiff but very forgiving. I've been a Gibson man since I started playing 15 years ago and I thought I'd give the ESPs a chance because I've heard great things about them. They are all true. I don't want to compare this guitar to a Les Paul because the only thing that's similar is the body style. They are 2 very different guitars. If you just like the Les Paul look, get this and save $1500. Do not hesitate to buy this guitar.

ESP LTD EC-401 FR better that Gibson Les Paul

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

My friend recently purchased this guitar, and, after being allowed to play it, I fell in love. It has great sound quality, and the two active pickups are awesome. I wish I could afford it though, as it is a little expensive, but it is a great guitar for the money.

      EC-401 FR

      By Greg

      from Panama City Fl.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

Great guitar. I have twelve other guitars ranging from Gibsons to Deans and more and this one is awesome. EMG 81 and 60 have really good tones and the Floyd Rose is really smooth and operates well. Guitar came set up very well which is a nice change, however it comes with 9's on it so if you're like me and play 10's or 11's, the guitar will need to be set up. I did it myself in twenty minutes. Very nice guitar....

      My New Metal Guitar

      By Jamen316

      from Philly

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Bridge:

I recently took a chance by buying this guitar online from this site but I am glad I did because this has become my new metal guitar. I have long been a Gibson LP man and while I could play some decent chops on my Studio, I was really looking to get some active EMG's and a Floyd Rose which can be rare in most Gibson LP's. I played the regular ec-401 in stores and felt confident enough to order it. The neck is thin for shred but beefy enough to play some chordsand riffs a la Metallica. The Floyd Rose Special may be a budget version of a FR but still pull great dives off while keeping it in tune (which is not something I can say about all locking trems). The simpler finish versus the ec-1000 is actually in my opinion more elegant than the overdone abalone trimming on the 1000. Grover tuners are a nice plus. Just beware when comparing 401's like I did of how different the 401VF was, which is more Gibson like, but not what I was looking for. I am really happy to have gotten ahold of this guitar for such a sweet price.
