Okay, Lets start with the pickups, The EMG's on this thing are INSANE, great highs, lows, and mids. Its really versatile. The neck is SUPER FAST, and it never detunes. It has killer looks, the picture serves it no justice what so ever. It gives the best tone you can find. Great quality wood also. All in all, I love this guitar. BUY IT IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY!!!!
ESP LTD FX-400I just got this guitar. Not only does it play and feel great, I get a lot of compliments on this beast! The body style is great and its a flat finish instead of a glossy laminated looking guitar. The EMG 60 on the neck packs a punch for chunk rhythms and the EMG 81 on the bridge can chomp out grinding leads! This thing has so much mass to it that the sustain and warmth of the tone is INCREDIBLE. I can actually feel the guitar on me instead of just having some feather light ax sitting on my stomach. I don't think anyone should get this guitar though, because It's so damn unique and it would suck to see everyone in the world playing one ;)
I played the cheaper model and fell in love with it. The only difference is the pickups and if this one had the 85 in the neck I would get it. This is a great lead guitar not so much a rhythm.
There's nothing to complain about with this axe. Its got EMG's, outstanding quality built like my other 2 ESP's. This body style is surprisingly comfortable even sitting which I didn't expect. If you like the looks and price of this guitar don't hesitate to buy it. It won't dissapoint!
I received this guitar as a Christmas gift. I have played on many guitars, and I must say the action on this guitar is incredibly fast. The neck has a pretty unique feel that I have never seen on any other guitar. I would compare it to a Schecter in terms of how smooth the wood is. The strings are well spaced, and just feel natural. The bridge is very close to where your hand would naturally sit, which makes it very easy to palm mute. The hardware on this guitar is very strong and durable.I must say if this guitar has any faults, it must be the tone. In comparison to an EC400 it lacks depth.
This guitar is great for most styles of metal, especially thrash, death, and black. The EMGs are incredible and they give a great Metallica sound. It works pretty well in drop tunings (I've only gone down to C standard). The rosewood is surprisingly smooth compared to an ebony and the shape sits nicely. It is very good for its price and it can work well for any kind of aggressive sound. One thing bad is that reaching the upper frets isn't as easy as it should be.
I bought this guitar on Oct 24th 2007. I played it early and I loved it. I saved up my money, bought the guitar, and couldn't be more happy! This guitar can manage distortion and cleans very well. The only thing I had to do was replace the strings and adjust the action (from buzz of new strings, I think they were a different gauge). I love the finish of this guitar, it's very smooth, all around. It has a great thin neck and is good for leads and rhythm.
