The hands-down choice for a first electric guitar.

The ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar is all about playability. The dual ESP LH-150 pickups buck 60-cycle hum, making them much quieter than single-coil pickups and more powerful. The 24-3/4" scale is slightly shorter than many electric guitars, making for less string tension and easier play. The LTD Viper-50 guitar's basswood body and maple neck with rosewood fretboard promise superb stability and long life.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

i bought this guitar expecting to just upgrade the pickups and having a professional sounding guitar... i didn't need to upgrade these pickups. they are so good for just about every genre (except for on the clean channel they are muddy, but it's an electric guitar. it's MEANT for distortion!) perfect for classic rock (boston, guns 'n' roses, 38 special etc..) paul gilbert, jo satriani, even some dragonforce. the action is fantastic, and i just love the way the neck feels. the only draw back is that the neck is so much heavier than the rest of the guitar. i read a lot of reviews saying that it dive bombed and just ignored it... but it really does. expect to relearn how to hold the guitar to play (especially if you like your instrument low) but that's nothing for the quality of the guitar.
as far as i can tell all the wood is good, and the paint job is pretty good. the frets do not buzz at all and it stays tuned pretty well. esp has amazing quality control.
BUY THIS GUITAR! you aren't going to find a better sounding guitar unless you have a lot of extra money lying around.

This was my first electric because I'm in highschool and I don't work it was within my budget. This guitar looks great. The silver sunburst effect is very cool. The sound is kinda where it goes down in quality. The basswood body is good for metal but on clean channels its very muddy and dark. A must after getting this guitar is to have your friendly guitar tec help set up the intonation and deffenetally get new pick-ups if you want a brigter guitar sound. This is deffentaly a starter guitar. Something to learn scales, Notes, solos and such(My advice is learn acoustic first if your just starting out in the guitar world. Learn the basic chords and strum paterns and then after your got those down move on to electric guitar.)I would recommend this guitar cautionusly after a couple months though of playing this guitar you will want to upgrade. It is a good guitar if your tight on money or its your first electric but if you know the sound you want its probably not going to come from this guitar outside of a really nice amp and a bunch of FX pedals.

The guitar plays and feels great, and has an awesome finish ... Bought this to have something to mess with different tunings and such ... about the same as the viper i already own (has emgs in it) - it has the same great quality to it ...

Comments about ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar:

My Brother owns this in Red.
I enjoyed playing this guitar a lot.
With SG style bodies it comes as a habit to expect
a hand full of a neck. But It's ESP. They fixed that of course. Neck is smooth, thin but not too thin.
The pickups are not Bad but not SD's.
It's super comfortable to play, I like the Smooth edges, Most SG's are very flat and straight, this feels almost like a strat, in that it just seems to wrap around you instead of sit in your lap. If your looking for a guitar for your kid, a friend, sister, Brother, father, cousin, niece aunt, nephew or you yourself are new to ESP and thought'd you would try them out, Do it. Even the lower end models have amazing Quality. I bought my First ESP feeling like everyone played them, whats the hype about, Bought a V-50 and i literally won't play another instrument. Each new one i buy just keeps me wanting more. Doesn't matter how skilled your self are or the person your buying it for, They will enjoy playing it entirely. Great Quality for Price.

        Great Little Beast

Comments about ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar:

I purchased one of these inexpensive guitars used, and didnt expect to be very happy; it was from an online auction, and I didnt expect to win. I love this guitar, and enjoy playing it daily. It is made from solid wood, not plywood, like so many other inexpensive guitars, and is fun to play. The pups and pots are quiet and responsive. The neck fits my hand well, and the action is great. I wish it had a gain and tone pot for each pup, and that is really my only complaint. That being said, I get a wide array of tones from this little beast

Comments about ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar:

A great starter axe. I've had this guy for about a year, and it's my beat-around practice guy. It looks great and plays well. The tuners are about what you'd expect for this price. The pick-ups are HOT. They're a bit muddy and off-sounding for clean, but hit the gain and this thing will scream. It's a metal machine for sure.Downsides: Heavy. I've never found anything like it. It's deff. heavier than my LP. It tends to neck dive when you first play with it, but you quickly adjust to it and it hasn't been an issue for me. A great first guitar, and perfect for the metal maniac.

Comments about ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar:

I think this guitar sounds great. Its stays in tune very well, and plays very well. You will get some fret buzzing till you play and set in the frets and put a good set of strings on it. bridge pickup crunches good, and the neck pickup gives a great blues sound. Honestly for the price i cant think of any thing to complain about it. Buy it you wont be disappointed.

        Great guitar for anyone.

Comments about ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar:

I've had my Viper 50 for about 2 and a half years now. I won it in a contest on Ultimate-guitar. I have to say, back when I won it it was cheaper, and I think it was made out of agathis, not basswood. But that may have been a mistake in information. This guitar's tone is outstanding. Of course you can always get better than stock pickups, but for stock these rock. I play a Les Paul Special and this guitar and at times I have a hard time telling their tones apart this guitar is so good. It's 24 frets are a nice touch too.My only grievances with it are the bolt on neck and the machine heads. The bolt on you can't get around, but I would recommend getting some lock machine heads for it.Other than that, a great axe for the money!

Comments about ESP LTD Viper-50 Electric Guitar:

Irecently picked this little beauty up at my local shop and I was definitly suprised at the sound and versatility of the viper this great for metal and hardcore. The clean tones do seem a bit muddy but the l-300's get the job done. Overall this is definetly the best metal guitar out there for the money. I would seriously recommend looking into buying this work of art.
