I bought one of these at a pawn shop for around *one*fifty*. (I tried to use actual numbers to say the price but for some reason the blog systems thought that was profane or restricted) I really had not researched it much. I saw the quality feature like the neck thru body and Floyd Rose and bought it for that price. I've had it for a couple years and love it. What I did not realise till tonight is it has after market pickups. I read the specs from ESP and it indicates ESP pickups. Mine has Ibanez INF3 pickup and INF4 bridge. I can't attest to the stock sound but mine sounds great. I have since received a Schecter Research C-1 Platinum for a Christmas present. This has an EMG 81/85 combo which IMHO and many others I might add is the greatest available setup. Still with the Ibanez pickups this is great. Beyond the pickups it is neck thru the body. To me this mean quality craftsmanship to meld the neck and body into a seamless unit. Not just lay bolt it on where ever. The neck is great, very thin. My only complaints are the width of the neck is a little more narrow than my Schecter. Not enough to really complain but I am 6'2" and have long digits...wider is better for me. The only other thing...the neck has great looking flying v inlays on all the markers except the 12th fret. On the 12th fret they put this big rectangle inlay with the model number boldly stamped. Looks kind of gaudy compared to the rest of the neck presentation. Definitely not enough to make me complain about a well put together guitar. I saw another review where the buyer got one second hand that had the EMG 81/85 pickup combo. That would be awesome on this axe. You would have to route out a place for the 9v battery though since those are active pickup and what comes stock on this are standard. Greatly recommend but can't attest to the quality of the stock pickups.

I owned this guitar for about a week before shipping it back to musicians friend. The g string would not lock, causing me much anger. I don't know how easy it would be for a professional to fix, but i tried fixing it and it didn't work. The paint scrapes off of the floyd rose really easily also. The humbuckers are not good at all, i suggest you would put real EMGs in it rather than ESP's crap ones that they put the emg name on. I had the black finish, and in certain lights it would look purple. The guitar is average weight, and it feels nice. The tremolo is non-recessed, which sucks. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind taking a risk of getting a bad product and having to replace the humbuckers after you realize they are crap. Also, a good thing is that it has a coil tap. It doesn't get that nice of clean tones on single or humbucking pickup mode, but i guess it is decent.

M-200FM

By bob nijland

great guitar, for beginner and advanced guitarists.
Bought mine second hand from a guy, he equiped it with EMG 81&85, with these on it, its a AMAZING guitar. Only have to tune it once a 2 weeks or something, tone settings are awesome, flamed top rocks, and the neck is as smooth as hell!!
The neck-through is quite nice, and feels really solid, although I have a Fender strat as well here. It weighs way much more. I think the weight of this guitar could be a lil more
For the value with the EMG's i think its more then awesome, would be worth much much more.

Great Guitar

I've had this ESP for a few months now and can't really find anything bad to say about it. The pickups aren't active, but have the same attack and tone. The floyd on it, though just licensed, stays in tune very well. What I especially love about this guitar is the feature that allows you to pull the tone knob up to make the pickups single coil, which is great for blues and jazz. This is by far the best guitar for the price I've ever played or owned.

ESP M-200FM

By doug funny

Ok I got this guitar and thought that this would be something that would really work out. It looks 10 times better in person then it does in the picture here, so don't worry about that. Just make sure you want a floyd rose trem. I personally think it's a pain, I'm more of a fan of tune o' matic bridges. Overall this axe sounds great, deep and crunchy. But not what I was looking for.

Decent

By Esromeron

from Delaware

I've owned this guitar for about 6 months now, and it's a decent guitar. It is a very comfortable guitar. The downfall of this guitar is that the neck, is made out of a soft wood or something. With very little pressure you can move it. Also when I recieved this guitar the action was so high it was unplayable, and any adjustment to the bridge made horrible fret buzzing occur. The sound of the guitar is very light, probaly because of the wood it is made from. Also being a Neck Thru guitar it doesn't have much sustain at all. Overall I really dont think this guitar is worth the price, if you want a fast guitar go with Ibanez or Jackson, thier made a lot better than these are.

Nice Axe

By LTDed

from Drums, PA

Got this instead of an ec400 and saved a couple hundred since I have a mahogany set neck Hamer with 81 already. This thing sounds sweet the H4s cut thru like any other ceramic super distortion pu plus theyre made in USA like the actives or Duncan/Dimarzios and sound great thru a good amp. The neck tru sustains like a Paul with a slightly brighter tone and with floyd rose trem and coil tap is a much more versatile axe than a paul. Notes dont die out on the high E like bolt on Floyd rose guitars usually do. The neck is perfect slightly thicker than the original Ibanez Wizard neck but no where near as thick as an old Charvel 5 or Schecter Hellraiser plus the neck joint doesnt get as wide as a Shecter or Washburn X50 or even the LTD H1000 arch tops, where it hits the body. Got mine in see thru black and a barely touch the Hamer now.

This LTD has it all!

I bought the see-thru black cherry and it is amazing. The push-pull coil tap is fun to play with but thats about it, i don't see any real application for this feature. the EMG-HZ4s are pretty decent for a passive pickup. the neck and fretboard play like butter, this guitar plays like one twice the price, definitely recommend getting one of these. you won't be disappointed.

Wow, great guitar for the money. The bridge pick up sounds awesome and the neck is blazingly fast. After some initial string stretching, it stays in tune nicely. The guitar looks great and it plays as good too. I hope it is durable also, because I cant put it down. Would absolutely recommend one.

The truth about this guitar

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

ok, so I'm writing this for whomever might be thinking of purchasing this guitar but is a little edgy about it. this is an awesome guitar for the price. First off the pickups are really nice, I have over 3 guitars with active emg 81/85's and these pickups get just as much crunch and a little bit more bite which can be useful. Secondly the floyd rose tremolo is pretty well made, you'll need to set it up right at first, add another spring depending on string gauges, but all the tools are given to you, and if you have no knowledge of how to set up the tremolo, a local show will show you. Finally the design is perfect on this guitar, the weight is comfortable, color is awesome (the red), and the neck is comfortable as well. If you want a good gigging instrument that can take the beating of the road, this is a good choice.

My No. 1 Axe

Ok this was my second ESP and I havent been let down yet. I ended up with this guitar because I got tired of waiting for the MH400 to be restocked again and Im glad. Overall its worth the money, sounds good, plays well, fast neck, the Floyd is decent, I havent had any tuning issues and its not that much of pain if you know what your doing. The pickups are pretty good for stock but I did end up switching them for the 81/85, now I basically have the MH400. But in all reality this is a great guitar for this price, its my favorite over my schecter c1 xxx and esp makes great guitars no matter the price, they have a loyal customer to the end.

Not To Bad!

By NextHammett88

I just recently purchased this guitar about two weeks ago from a local music store in Dayton, Ohio. When I first brought it back it felt a little weird from going from a Jackson RR3 Custom to this but when I got used to the fret board, my fingers glided over this thing.I'm a personal fan of guitars that have a neck-thru construcion and for the price, this craftmanship was well worth it. I'm only sixteen so I was on a budget but I sure didn't get screwed. The only problems I've had with it is that the volume knob came off and the jack came loose, but those are both easy and minor problems to fix.The EMGs make this guitar sound sweet for all the Kirk Hammett and Dragonforce solos that I play.At first they seem as crunchy as I like them to be, however I just readjusted the settings on my amp and they are perfect.I recomend this to anyone that wants something nice and something relatively cheap!!

-BODYThe neck through is a must have feature for any player unless you like having a hard time with your upper frets.-NECKCool inlays, complete 24 frets, reverse headstock not a problem because there won't be much tuning with locking nut.-PICKUPSVery punchy (noticeable on clean), very clean tone, and pickups all the noise(from your playing)-CONTROLSMaster volume all you need with push pull tone, and three way switch.-OVERALLSpectacular to me as a beginner guitarist but with much musical knowledge in all other places

its ok

By enimie of reality

I got this guitar and right away returned the darn thing. First of all when ever I get any guitar I check the neck for bends and stuff. What do you know the neck was bent up wards so in the middle of the fret board the strings were super high.the pickups were alright but if I were to keep it I would of switched them to 81's. I recommend this guitar to people that want to play in the style of marty friedman, jason becker, but when you get it lower the strings!!!!!!!!!

Not bad. But...

By He@dB@nGer_666

from Cave Creek, AZ

Ok, I'm being completely honest when I say that this guitar was more hype, than quality. I read all the reviews about this guitar when I considered buying it and i was convinced that it was pretty good. And it is GOOD guitar, but when I got it all this crap happed to it the first week I got it, the jack came loose and fell into the guitar, and a month later the the volume knob came came loose too. But I'm not saying that the guitar is bad, it kicks a** for what it's got. The pickups are good, and the neck is pretty fast, and it's tremolo bar dosent make the strings go too out of tune if you tighten the locking nuts tight enough. You get what you pay for and more with this guitar.

Pretty decent

By Through Exile

from Minnesota

I bought an older version of this guitar which has the esp passives instead of the hz's but everything else is exactly the same. I originally purchased this instrument for the sustain becusae it was a neckthrough, but not realizing that the wings were made of agathis, I made a dumb buy. Another couple things with this guitar I am not a fan of was the pick ups and licensed trem. I swapped the pickups for Duncan Blackouts and the trem for a Schaller. Onto other and better things, the play is amazing I love the finish and the frets, very decent quality work for being made in Thailand. This is a decent neckthrough guitar for cheap but don't buy it if ultimate sustain is what you're looking for. If that's what you're looking for in a guitar look for mahagany and or ash.

Mad ESP

By Heavy Man

from Minnesota

This is the best guitar I ever played on. The pickups are great but I changed them with emg 81 and 85 like Zakk Wylde. The Floyd Rose is awesome,it will stay in tune no matter how much I play with it. The weight and the body is really good. Its good for every kind of music styles especially for Heavy metal,Rock,Hard rock etc.I have three other guitars- Jackson,Ibanez and even a Gibson, but this guitar is the best for me. Whoever wants to buy it, do it now cause you won't regret it.

ESP-FM200

By Cygnus X-191

See all my reviews

I used to own an ESP QM-200, an this is obviously a step up from that. The neck is very fast, the binding looks great, although the pictures do not do this guitar justice. You must see it for yourself. The EMGs are good, especially through a Line 6 PodXT Live, however I do think the EMG 81/85 setup would be better. But for your dollar, the ESP M-200FM is a GREAT Buy! I love the guitar, and will be getting mine shortly.
