After reading everyone else's reviews, I realize my guitar is completely different than the norm. I bought it as a prototype and it came without factory installed pickups. I installed a matched pair of Seymour Duncan 57' Classics and all new electronics as well. The original electronics seemed cheap because one of the volume knobs kept falling off. I installed brand new Gibson pots and a pair of Bumblebee tone capacitors. I also switched out the ESP tuners with locking Grover tuners. I see the biggest and BEST difference is my guitar has a SET neck! Because of the neck, new electronics and those sweet sounding new Seymour Duncans, this is one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. I find myself picking it up more often than my LP or my Strat. Mine also has more binding and cosmetic features it's also a very beautiful guitar as well. Lucky me!

I have played this at a friends house, and its a horrible guitar. Everything you expect to work doesnt. The fret buzz is really annoying, and its very heavy for a semi-holow. Yea this is a great price, but for 50 more you can get a decent ibanez instead.

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

When I had mine delivered there was a crack on the back of the body close to the neck, although it hasn't proven harmful. The reason a threaded jack is a con is because it tends to come loose and wobble, but fixing is as easy as screwing it back in. The pickups are typical ESP: dark and hot. They're ok but not everyone's cup of tea. With Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios, however, it sounds great. Be warned when replacing the PUs that the stock PUs have soldered/glued-on covers.

Great Guitar

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Overall this is a lot of guitar for 350.00 bucks. I have been modding out guitars for a number of years and have gotten a pretty good ear for pickups. So I am a little picky when it comes to that. GFS pickups are cheap but a great value for the money. The workmanship on the neck and body is near perfect. The set up was just slightly high for me so I made small adjustments to the action. I love this guitar now. It's like a mix between a Les Paul and a 335 Gibson.
I bought this guitar online and was a little surprised when I opened it. I got the "Gold Top" thinking it would similar to a gold top LP. Well, it is actually Gold Metal Flake WOW!! what a surprise. But after feeling the workmanship that ESP put into this thing, I've gotten used to the bright paint and actually really like it now. The only thing I didn't care for was the pickups, which were muddy, especially the neck. So I put on a set of GFS Retrotrons and I tell you, this guitar flat rocks. I am very pleased with it now. They said that the pickups were ESP 150's which get great reviews. But when I took them out they said they were G&B pickups, which I have never heard of so they went away. I wish I could have gotten the black or red finish one but the gold with black hardware is really nice actually.

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Have had this for a few months now and am still very happy with it. Can't be beat for the price. Great look, great sound, great neck. Does the world really need one more person playing a Les Paul? Nah, get something different! I let another friend play this who owns a dozen plus guitars (including LP and tele), many of them vintage. After a day with the PS-1 he was off looking at ESP's website to learn more and see what else they have that he did not know about. These guitars are the best secret out there!

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Best guitar for the money out there. A+ body, neck, hardware, craftsmanship, and playability. Way better than anything in this price range out there. Haven't touched my Epi Dot since I got this. Neck and set-up were spot-on from factory, stays in tune. Love the block inlay and white binding. Feels expensive, solid and weighty. After 3 yrs of high use I have had no issues at all. The stock pick-ups are a bit thin sounding. I recently installed some Gibson 57's and its barely secondary to my LP Custom. In closing, I currently buy and sell a lot of guitars. I haven't found anything on par with my PS2 for less than a G-note. Good buy for the beginner, easy to mod. Great for someone who already has pups. Get it! You know you want one!

To the guy who called it garbage...

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

This guitar, from factory doesn't usually have bad fret buzz...that comes over time as the frets grind down or someone adjusts the bridge improperly. This guitar isn't a bad guitar...in fact, id say its pretty nice for the cost. My singer plays one (so its at my house 24) and I only have 2 issues: The input jack on the 3 month old guitar is going in and out...simply bending it back in place works but temporarily. Also, the pickups sound like a 300$ solid body. It should have a warmer tone but ESP decided to go with a 'hotter' pickup...takes away alot of the hollowbody-ness....if that makes any sense. Also, this guitar ISN'T heavy at all. Pick up a dot and tell me what you think of the weight. And, in response to the ibanez statement, they are similar in tone and quality. If you buy either, you should probably replace the pickups...I play through a mid 80's carvin valvemaster head and a sovtec 4x12...my setup is usually really REALLY deep in tone...almost qotsa like...but the esp sounded too predisposed to brighter tones...

    Awesome guitar for price

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Just pulled the trigger on this guitar and so far I've been very impressed with it. While the guitar arrived with a two loose knobs that simply needed to be pressed down, the overall fit and finish is excellent. This guitar looks and feels solid. Comfortable is hand. The tone from this guitar is very versatile; bell like tones or those well suited to classic rock. Not quite the classic jazz tones that I was hoping for from a semi-hollow guitar. The neck is comfortable. The action was a bit too low when it arrived which resulted in some buzz on the low E string, but a quick adjustment took care of that. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a nice inexpensive guitar suitable for most genres of music at a price that can't be beat.

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

My local guitar store is the only place that carries ESP's so whenever they get a new one I try it out. I have this weird thing for semi-hollow bodies so I had to try this one. The pickups are pretty good actually and the body is comftorable. Heavier than a regular semi-hollow which is good for me. The neck is fast enough and I love the block inlays. Really good deal. Get sunburst if you're going to get it though. Try it before you buy it if you're unsure about it.
