Overall this is a lot of guitar for 350.00 bucks. I have been modding out guitars for a number of years and have gotten a pretty good ear for pickups. So I am a little picky when it comes to that. GFS pickups are cheap but a great value for the money. The workmanship on the neck and body is near perfect. The set up was just slightly high for me so I made small adjustments to the action. I love this guitar now. It's like a mix between a Les Paul and a 335 Gibson.
I bought this guitar online and was a little surprised when I opened it. I got the "Gold Top" thinking it would similar to a gold top LP. Well, it is actually Gold Metal Flake WOW!! what a surprise. But after feeling the workmanship that ESP put into this thing, I've gotten used to the bright paint and actually really like it now. The only thing I didn't care for was the pickups, which were muddy, especially the neck. So I put on a set of GFS Retrotrons and I tell you, this guitar flat rocks. I am very pleased with it now. They said that the pickups were ESP 150's which get great reviews. But when I took them out they said they were G&B pickups, which I have never heard of so they went away. I wish I could have gotten the black or red finish one but the gold with black hardware is really nice actually.

I have played this at a friends house, and its a horrible guitar. Everything you expect to work doesnt. The fret buzz is really annoying, and its very heavy for a semi-holow. Yea this is a great price, but for 50 more you can get a decent ibanez instead.

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

After reading everyone else's reviews, I realize my guitar is completely different than the norm. I bought it as a prototype and it came without factory installed pickups. I installed a matched pair of Seymour Duncan 57' Classics and all new electronics as well. The original electronics seemed cheap because one of the volume knobs kept falling off. I installed brand new Gibson pots and a pair of Bumblebee tone capacitors. I also switched out the ESP tuners with locking Grover tuners. I see the biggest and BEST difference is my guitar has a SET neck! Because of the neck, new electronics and those sweet sounding new Seymour Duncans, this is one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. I find myself picking it up more often than my LP or my Strat. Mine also has more binding and cosmetic features it's also a very beautiful guitar as well. Lucky me!

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

When I had mine delivered there was a crack on the back of the body close to the neck, although it hasn't proven harmful. The reason a threaded jack is a con is because it tends to come loose and wobble, but fixing is as easy as screwing it back in. The pickups are typical ESP: dark and hot. They're ok but not everyone's cup of tea. With Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios, however, it sounds great. Be warned when replacing the PUs that the stock PUs have soldered/glued-on covers.

Not a set neck/5-bolt

By MADDOGSKULLCAP

from Flint, MI

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I wish this would have been a set neck, but it plays so easy I had to keep it. Put a set of Dimarzio Joe&MoJoe pickups in and this is the best inexpensive guitar I own. Original pickups okay just a little dark for my liking. Build is typical ESP;not a flaw to be found. Set-up was perfect. Handles my 100watt/4x12 tube amp face on with very little feed back. Nice guitar.

Esp X-tone ps-1

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Really nice instrument, perfect action. Most of my friends and bandmates have more expensive guitars but prefer to play mine when we jam. A few of my friends have purchased other hollowbody guitars and have not gotten what they expected after playing mine.

Sweet!

By Awesomeguy82

from Boston, MA

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

To start off, I am a beginner player but am advanced enogh to know a good guitar from a bad one. All the guitarse I own are ESP's and I would never buy anything else. The pickups on this have a great tone, but are more rocky than I would have liked, and I would suggest changing the strings to Ernie Balls, but overall, this is an excellent guitar and a great steal!

Awesome guitar for price

By Plygtar

from southeast PA

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Just pulled the trigger on this guitar and so far I've been very impressed with it. While the guitar arrived with a two loose knobs that simply needed to be pressed down, the overall fit and finish is excellent. This guitar looks and feels solid. Comfortable is hand. The tone from this guitar is very versatile; bell like tones or those well suited to classic rock. Not quite the classic jazz tones that I was hoping for from a semi-hollow guitar. The neck is comfortable. The action was a bit too low when it arrived which resulted in some buzz on the low E string, but a quick adjustment took care of that. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a nice inexpensive guitar suitable for most genres of music at a price that can't be beat.

Nice Guitar

By Morgan-l.XcI

from Winston-Salem, NC

Comments about ESP PS-1 Xtone Paramount Series Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

My local guitar store is the only place that carries ESP's so whenever they get a new one I try it out. I have this weird thing for semi-hollow bodies so I had to try this one. The pickups are pretty good actually and the body is comftorable. Heavier than a regular semi-hollow which is good for me. The neck is fast enough and I love the block inlays. Really good deal. Get sunburst if you're going to get it though. Try it before you buy it if you're unsure about it.
