An instrument that is the result of a lifetime obsession for perfection.
The EVH Wolfgang Left-Handed Quilt Top electric guitar represents 2 years of intense research and development, and a year of brutal testing on the road. With every aspect examined and upgraded to the highest standards, the EVH Wolfgang has been produced to Eddie's exact specifications and has features identical to the Wolfgang guitars he records and performs with. The EVH Wolfgang includes a distinctive double-cutaway body with an arched AA maple top on a lightweight basswood back, a quartersawn single-piece AA bird's-eye maple neck fitted with stainless steel frets, double-potted custom-wound guitar pickups, five-piece binding on the matching body and headstock, custom-made signature tuning machines, Floyd Rose double-locking trem with the patented EVH D-Tuna drop-D tuning system, and Bourns low-friction pots.
Another distinctive Eddie-mod is the 3-way pickup toggle wired in reverse: the up position (normally the neck pickup) is the bridge pickup, down (normally the bridge) is the neck pickup.

Comments about EVH Wolfgang Left-Handed Quilt Top Electric Guitar:
Since the wolfgang first hit the scene back in the peavey days i wanted one. Peavey would not make a lefty version so i never got one. Finally Eddie made his own version through fender and the lefty was born.. All the years of waiting were totally worth it. The neck is a bit on the small size but its actually a very comfortable feel.
The sides of the neck are sort of a roll over, smooth not like other guitars with a sort of square edge, it feels amazing. You feel like it fits right in your hand right way. There is an oil finish on the neck not a gloss finish. It is very warm feeling and feels like a couple of years old already. The heel joint is angled with ease to the upper frets and access is very fluid in feel. The neck is SOLID its not moving unless you hit it with a truck and i even doubt that would move it. the guitar actually is a bit smaller than i expected. It's not very long of a guitar but its the perfect size.
Pickups.. they sound very Eddie like, there is actually an audible subtle "quack" when you pick the strings. The action is done very well but an ever so slight string buzz is noticable, Eddie sets his height to the point of buzz then backs it off a hair, It is clear here that this is set up to his liking completely. If you dont like his setup it can be changed. Strings are lights far as i can tell and pretty nice.
Body, The body has an arch top and its a pretty low arch not like a gibson where the arch is fairly high. The wolfgang has an arch that is subtle, it wont get in your way or feel strange. I actually have to rub my hand over the guitar to feel for it. It is very nicely done. The binding is very nice as well, The maple top is a very nice AA quilted maple, LOTS of figure and really stands out. I purchased the trans amber and it is just stunning.
The controls are bit to get use to , p/u selector up is bridge middle both and down is neck pickup. the floyd rose feels good. it only goes down in pitch with factory setup but can be changed. Bending individual strings the bridge didnt budge. everything stayed where it was intended to.
The"D-tuna" works good for instant drop D tuning. If you do decide to make the bridge float the d-tuna will be sort of useless due to string tension changing when using the little gadget.
Volume and tone are like any other volume and tone pots with eception of the low friction volume pot. its very loose "low friction" which means it turns very easily and it is a welcome addition to volume swells and the like.
Whats in the case ?? you get a certificate thanking you on your purchase along with an inspection checklist, 3 allen wrenches, A foldout from eddie thanking you and care tips for the guitar.
The case is a hardshell plastic with Eddies stripes, the inside is a sort of velvet lining with the guitar pocket very detailed to the shape of the Wolfgang. It honestly is a very nice sturdy case.
The cons... you knew it was here somewhere :)
Size for some. If you are a big guy it may seem like a childs guitar. It is on the small size but its a huge sound from this guitar. My Schechter damien elite is a full 7-8 inches shorter than this guitar back to back. VERY good guitar, stop reading , order it and GO PLAY !! :)
Comments about EVH Wolfgang Left-Handed Quilt Top Electric Guitar:
I had to order my Wolfgang lefty as a custom. I never had a chance to play one in a local music store so I had to trust reviews and EVH that this is a premium guitar. I am so glad I did. The fretboard is flawless and plays so smooth. The tuners and locking Floyd Rose are top notch. The D-tuna is a great feature that all metal players should have on their guitar. The low friction pot for volume is as advertised. I play through a 5150 Peavey and the tone is head turning. It blew away everyone in my band. The tone knob and pick ups allow for great flexibility in clean and crunch tone which are slightly better than my Les Paul without the back/shoulder crushing weight. My strat which will soon go on eBay because I will never play it again. I highly recommend this guitar. I got more than expected and am thrilled to own it.
