OVERVIEW

Fender celebrates 50 years of the iconic Jaguar.

Fender's 50th Anniversary Jaguar guitar takes you back to 1962, when they introduced an unusual new guitar that paired the sleek Jazzmaster® body style and elaborate control layout with a shorter scale and smaller, brighter pickups with more output. The resulting Jaguar was the fourth and last of Fender' original lineup of standard electric guitars. Perfectly matched to the early-™60s renaissance in design modernism, the Jaguar gradually acquired a fascinating pedigree quite unlike that of any other Fender guitar. A chromed-out, surf-rock staple of the 1960s, it found new life from the mid-1970s-on as a subversively offbeat alternative axe wielded by punk, post-punk, grunge and alt-indie guitar heroes and anti-heroes alike.

The U.S.-built 50th Anniversary Jaguar celebrates that vivid history and combines old and new into the finest of all Jaguar guitars. Highly distinctive features include the classic 24 scale length, a new one-degree neck-angle-pocket cut that improves pitch, a re-positioned tremolo plate that increases bridge break angle and sustain, and specially designed hot Jaguar single-coil neck and bridge pickups that deliver fatter tone and more output (once again framed by the model' classic notched metal œclaws; a hum-reducing innovation only found on the Jaguar). Accessories include a deluxe brown case, strap, cable and a set of flatwound strings.

Comments about Fender 50th Anniversary Jaguar Electric Guitar:

I remain very disappointed that Fender would produce a premium priced product like this and let units into the marketplace with so many problems.
This guitar has been the same for 50 years, but can provide many tonal adjustments if you experiment with the controls
On my first guitar, trem lock button was completely missing...found it lodged out of sight in the case. Could not get it to work right, took it to local Fender authorized service center who could not fix it in 2-1/2 weeks. Sent it back to MF for replacement. Two months later, second unit's case was falling apart inside (I fixed this myself, but case is still somewhat out of square and will not close properly). Trem lock ok, but guitar has cosmetic paint defects front and back, and something (piece of solder, I think) is loose and rattling around inside. Can't adjust neck pick-up because moving top screw will not allow pu to move. I think its hung up under pick guard. Also, Fender says "speciallly designed hot pu's that deliver fatter tone and more output". Nothing could be futher from the truth. I have 4 other Fenders with way hotter pu's. This Jag is dull and lifeless compared to them. I'm hoping if I can adjust pu's, this will change. Otherwise, this unit may be defective and also go back to dealer. This is just a mass produced guitar at a premium price with little or no quality control before leaving the factory. Very disappointed.
Because of above problems, this is poor value for money

Comments about Fender 50th Anniversary Jaguar Electric Guitar:

Thigs is one of the finest guitars I've ever played. My guitar tech says it has many of the characteristics of the finest Custom Shop guitars. The finish is impecable. The action is smooth. The tones are excellent, from Surf, Blues to Rock. I would have given it a 5, but it required fret and neck work. Fender paid for the work under warranty. It is now a 5 guitar. Buy one. You won't be sorry.

Comments about Fender 50th Anniversary Jaguar Electric Guitar:

I've owned all the various American re-issues plus an original from '65, and they are all great for Surf music, but I prefer the anniversary model, because, the one I got is lighter weight than they others I've had. Jaguar's are exceptionally heavy guitars, even with a short scale. Add a mastery bridge, and they are a young person's instrument. I like this version, and I have a couple of Jaguar necks sitting in the closet if I ever decide to replace the neck that came with it.
