Wow! I can't believe my eyes and ears! Is this for real? A guitar this special only comes around once every sixty years. It is an instant classic. I played one in a local music shop. I was blown away by the vintage warmth and clarity. I expected it to hum like a mad man. Instead I got only a soft hum as if the guitar had life and a heart beat. The neck is so fast and easy to play. I have small hands so that is really important. As far as cosmetics go it she is as cosmetically perfect as they come. I compared this guitar with much more expensive custom shop models. My conclusion was simple. Hedrix didn't need noisless pickups. Steve Gains didn't need them. SRV didn't need them. Buddy Guy didn't need them Jeff Beck doesn't need them. Eric Johnson doesn't need them. Shall I go on. I think not. My point is if you are serious about your tone get one. I know I am.

I did not appreciate the quality and tone of the 57/62 pups when I first bought the guitar. I did not want to play it out too much (the anniversary nature of the guitar fear of it getting stolen because it looks awesome and has a perfect weight) so I went on to buy two other strats in the years that followed (as I bonded with those guitars). I did do pup upgrades on the other two (which I play out the most) and added a set of Texas Specials in one (my Number 1) and a set of CS 69's (in my Number 2 Strat) and have really become a "tone freak" as I have been playing more again expecially the last year. I mostly play the 60th at the house every day to practice with and after all of these years, and most recently as the guitar and the 57/62's have aged a bit too, I have come to the following conclusion. That 60th with the 57/62's is the best sounding guitar out of my three Strats; it has the Mojo and has aged like a fine wine. Now I have to get the guts to take it out on the road with me. I will only do so if I can carry-on on flights and not let it out of my sight. It is not a custom shop guitar and basically "just" an AMSE strat with upgraded pups but Fender hit a winner with this particular stock guitar. It is an a great example of what a great production model Strat should be.
Coming up on the 6th year aniversary of my orignal purchase of this guitar in April 2006 and had to write an anniversary review. This was my first American Strat purchase although I had played many friends Strats over the years when I was younger in the 70's-80's (I played Les Pauls and assorted brands like Ibanez and Kramer guitars) but I never bonded with those friends Strats enough or ones I had played in stores to want to purchase one. I left playing to raise a family in the 90's and got a chance to start "over" again in 2006. I had no idea about the 60th. I just walked into the store 6 years ago, told the salesman I wanted to purchase a Strat, and after trying several, he steered me towards the one 60th they just got into the store. The "new" setup was perfect and I really bonded with the guitar. Not so much over the sound/pups (it sounded like a Strat) but the neck and action was really nice so I bought it.
The quality was great then and remains great six years later. The guitar has aged beautifully. Not the perfect finish to begin with (under the poly which remains the perfect two tone tobacco looking burst with very little red in the borders) but the neck has started to "age" and get that aged tint. Plays just as well as the first day I bought it; I have never adjusted the factory action on the guitar. Have never had a problem with the tuners, tuning stability after trem use is great, and it does not go out of tune after double-bends. No fret sprout and it still plays like butter. Also, the weight is right at 7.5 pounds. Just perfect balance.
An incredible value as a special American Series Strat with the added factory installed reverse wound 57/62 pups and delta tone system.

I have owned lots of strats over the years, but this one is special. First it is a relly well made guitar-much nicer than the more expensive american deluxe. The finish is perfect everything is well balanced. But, the thing that really sets it apart a is the pick-ups. They are amazing-the tone is so clean and defined. They can create just about every tone you could want. (no metal-but duh it's a single coil!) I love this Guitar.

Classic Rock!

This is one great guitar. I own 9 high end guitars and this fits in well. Right now it is my exclusive axe. I am not a "Fender Guy" but this guitar won me over. The tones I get out of this guitar are superb. The fret board is awesome. Super quality. As far a tone, this guitar really shines. I play it through a Peavey 5150 half stack and a Carvin MTS all tube half stack with the Line 6 XLT Live floor board for effects. Sounds simply amazing. I've had it a month and the grin is still on my face. A great Fender Strat!

Anniversary Strat

This is one beautiful guitar, it is absolutely flaw-less! The neck is very smooth, frets well dressed, action set up properly, almost plug-n-play! I put 10's on it, reset the trem., and it stays in tune very well. The case is a real nice vintage style case, silver w/leather ends, this site should post pictures of it. The pick-up's are the new vintage 57's, and they sound fabulous, perfectly reproducing vintage strat tone! Also on a side note these pick-up's are shielded real well from outside interference. For the money you cannot go wrong if you want the tones of yesterday in a very playable great guitar.

Ask me a question

I`ve been playing a Les Paul in my band for a while now and love it, but I needed a Strat so I bought this one. I play it through a Hot-Rod DeVille and it sounds just awsome, thanks in part to the vintage pickups. The neck is to die for. I love the silky rosewood fingerboard. If you want a Strat that looks great, plays great and sounds great, get this one. You wont regret it.

I work for a music store that is a fender dealer and came across this guitar while cleaning up some guitars hangin on the wall. I never was a fan of rosewood fretboards until i played this baby. This guitar plays so effortless and sounds great! I dont know of too many buys out there that are as good as this one. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up while ya can. You wont regret it!

I've had this Strat about two weeks and love it more each time I pick it up. A friend put heavier string s on it (a wound third) and set the action for me, now it sounds and plays great. The slick neck, the pure beauty and quality of the instrument make it a great investment. I'm very happy with this guitar.

I also own a '60 Jazzmaster

By Jazzmaster-LkDDE

from Tucson, AZ

I had always avoided Stratocasters and much preferred my Jazzmaster. Every time I went into a store, picked up a Strat and wrapped my hand around the neck, I immediately put it back on the wall. Not this time! This thing is absolutely perfect. I now have a new favorite guitar! The entire guitar is absolutely flawless in all respects. If you are able to find one, buy it fast! It won't be there tomorrow.

I was never more surprised in my life then when I took this thang out of the case and tuned it up. Smooth tune- No jumps. Then I looked at the finish- Not a flaw on it anywhere. Then I looked at the case- Hmmm- Gibson uses a much softer lining- But this axe only cost a lot less.Next came the playing- What a pleasure. Comfortable as can be. Mine is the easiest playing guitar I own. My LP Standard LE will still command the grunge. But for the cleans and twangs, This is the one for me.

Beautiful Guitar with great action and tone

By MidLifeCrisis-sT4pl

from Concord, CA

I've had the guitar 3 weeks. The craftsmanship is excellent. The 3-tone sunburst finish is beautiful, and flawless. Tone is very subjective, but through my Fender G-DEC amp it sounds great. A little fret buzz out of the case, but I expect it's either my playing style or it needs 5 more minutes of setup. The case is a work of art, but the guitar is outstanding in it's own right.

I went into the music store with the intention of picking up a Gibson Gold Top Les Paul, and just for fun grabbed the 60th anniversery strat and immediately changed my mind. this is an unbelievable guitar. The slick neck and thin body make it feel so comfortable. If you've got the chance... buy it!

The 60th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster is in my opinion the greatest guitar Fender has ever produced. The neck is incredible on these models, as well as the sweet vintage pickups. The case makes everything even sweeter. Comes with alot of nice accessaries. Im very pleased with the manufactures at Fender producing these wonderful Anniversary models. You guys have done one hell of a job. Get one while you can!!!!!

Stratocaster

By Local Person

This is one beauitful guitar. Thats what first caught my attention. Then i picked it up to play, it felt really nice. The Case is very nice with a 60th Aniversey Diamond sitched in it. I've played older guitars 84' Stratocaster and a 99' Les Paul. To me this is way better than a Les Paul, you dont have a heavy guitar with a muddy tone. Fender has also been the soul of rock and roll for ages. If you looking to get a new american guitar get this one its worthy every penny.

Very nice guitar

By blackbluesking

I own a tele plus, a Taylor 814, an a Gibson Les Paul. I always wanted a Strat and found this one at a store for less than a grand. I had went to MF and looked at the reviews. The Case is very, very nice, and comes with a cable and strap. "Inbetween" commented on this and had he not, I might have selected a different guitar. Both were pretty equal but the case is what locked it in for me. Really is a beautiful guitar. I don't think anyone would reqret buying it.

The price of this is between the American Strat and the American Strat Deluxe. I like the s-1 switching on the deluxe strat but it's wasn't really what I was looking for. The American strat was more of what I was looking for but it just seemed like an old maid to me after all these years of playing. So I went with this guitar. Beautifully made like all other American Fenders. The thing that really got me hooked was the case. I wish this site posted a pic of the case cause it's a very cool case. Black leather trim and silver exterior. Red crushed velvet interior with a special diamond 60th anniversary logo on the inside.
