Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster V Neck Electric Guitar:
This guitar has it all!!! The N3 Noiseless pickups are very refined and have great tone quality. They might have a little less "sizzle" than standard pups but i think this guitar sounds like a Strat. I have an American Standard Texas Special with the Texas Special pups and I can tell a difference BUT I like the American Deluxe sound even BETTER. The N3 sound is "Strat-y" but it is more refined. As I said before I REALLY like the sound. The S-1 switch is AWESOME! the sounds change dramatically. It adds a ton of "Girth" to the sound because it throws the pups into Series which simulates a humbucker. It's not a true humbucker sound but it adds a lot to your options in playing styles. With the S-1 you get 5 more sounds out of the pickups that are tonally unique. That means you have 10 different pickups combinations to choose from!!!
The neck has a "Soft-V" which means it's a little fatter. I emphasize "a little" fatter because it's not a huge size jump. My A.S. Strat has a "Modern C" profile and it's very thin in my hands. This A.D. Strat with the "Soft-V' fits perfectly in my hand. (I'm a normal size guy 6'1"). The neck is perfect! The compound radius feels nice. The frets are rounded off. The contoured neck heel feels very comfortable. The locking tuners are excellent. The gloss top fretboard is very nice. The satin back neck is very smooth. The block bridge saddles feel good on my hand when I palm mute. etc. etc. I could go on all day.
Point is, everything about this guitar is BETTER than the American Standard. It is well worth the price. The only issue you should be concerned about is the pickups.
If you need sizzling pickups get the American Standard. If you are like me, looking for a more refined Strat tone with a ton of pickup options then the American Deluxe is definitely for you! Don't be afraid to try this guitar based on other people's negative criticism. In my opinion this guitar is PERFECT!
