OVERVIEW

The 21st century way to rock Tele style!

Tone, tradition and innovation. Fender's new American Deluxe Telecaster is the 21st century way to rock with a Telecaster, graced by the added distinction of a traditional ash body. The compound radius fretboard allows effortless string bending anywhere along the neck, and staggered locking tuners improve tuning stability for stunt guitarists who like to bend behind the nut. New N3 Noiseless pickups provide improved Telecaster tones for snappy bell-like chime with no the hum; other features include S-1 switching and chromed brass bridge saddles.

Fender N3 Noiseless pickups N3 Noiseless pickups deliver the best of yesterday and today, because they deliver landmark vintage Fender tone and response without the hum that can plague single-coil pickups. Using an improved stacked coil-coil design, N3 Noiseless pickups are specially tailored for each Telecaster pickup position. The insulated metal core of each pickup position type differs in thickness and composition for enhanced tone, and Fender has fine-tuned the sized, shape, and wire gauge of the coils to balance the magnetic responsiveness essential to great tone. N3 Noiseless pickups represent a welcome return to the warmth and clarity of alnico magnets. Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

I was nervous about purchasing a guitar online without having played and examined it first-hand, especially an investment of this caliber. I couldn't find a Deluxe Tele anywhere locally with the ash body and Butterscotch Blonde finish. MF.com proved my concerns to be unwarranted, and the instrument arrived in immaculate condition. Not a blemish anywhere to be found, not as much as a fingerprint on the body. It was even in tune when it showed up.

The compound-radius neck/fretboard is just a joy to play. I've been a Les Paul 60's slim-taper kind of guy for 15 years now, and the Mexican and American Standard Tele necks feel awkward to me. But the Deluxe's neck has a very comfortable feel, it's considerably slimmer than the "stubby" feeling Standard. Action is very pleasant all the way up and down the neck, and the intonation is very good (thanks in part to the 6-saddle bridge).

The pickups are noiseless as advertised, and despite being single-coil, only pick up interference in pretty extreme circumstances (wireless mouse, cell phone, flourescent light ballast, ect. in very close proximity).

My only complaint is that the pickups don't really exhibit that classic Telecaster twang that we all associate with this iconic instrument. They're very nice-sounding pickups, crisp and chimey in the high frequencies but not harsh or cutting. They sound like good, solid single-coil pickups, with a surprisingly hot output that makes them slightly reminiscent of a P90. But they're missing that blistering high-end brassy twang that defines the Telecaster.

Also, the S1 switching isn't all that helpful on a 2-pickup guitar since it only affects 1 of the 3 toggle positions. The series/parallel switch does make a difference, but it's relatively subtle.

It comes with a very helpful service manual that gives some good layman's instructions adjusting that truss rod, action, and intonation. Also included are the allen wrenches used to made these adjustments, a nice nylon/leather strap, strap-locks, and a nice road case with key-lock.

Gripes about the pickups aside, this is really a keepsake-quality instrument. The manufacturing is impeccable, fit and finish are perfect, and it plays like an instrument of this caliber should. Everything about it says that it'll be a life-long member of my guitar "family".

The action is fast straight from the factory/store.
The guitar rivals the Jaguar in treble.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

I received my Fender American Deluxe Telecaster via UPS four days ago and am very happy with the instrument. Mine has a maple neck and is in the Butterscotch Blonde finish. The product as it appears once the box was open is flawless, clean, and beautifully presented. The guitar is in perfect shape with gorgeous coloring and impeccable finish. All mechanical elements are in perfect working order and the assembly is without error. The included strap, strap locks, cord, and case are all appreciated additions. As for the guitar itself, the locking tuners and the noiseless pickups are the extra additions that stand out most to me. The sound of the guitar and the tonal variation make this my new favorite guitar. I am playing it through a VOX AC-15 amplifier and I'm amazed at the sound palette that is available from this combination. Every tone from smooth and gentle to rough and rocking is possible with a thousand points in between. This will be the last Telecaster I will ever need. I would also like to say that I have found the staff at Musician's Friend to be very friendly and helpful. I have been a customer for several years now and that has both to do with the quality of the items and the quality of the service.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

not trying to offend but the one I got had serious paint defects, so bad I am considering turning it into a relic. as a side note, I got this on a discount and found out why, urethane was sprayed over the frets, took me hours to correct, the neck still doesn't have the correct slope and since its my upcoming project I will correct the thing, first thing is to strip it of finish and redo it, including the fretboard which is almost unplayable. I would not recommend this to anyone who does not spend a lot of time working on guitars, it's not plug and play.

            returned because of defects

            By dale mitchell

            from oklahoma

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

I had to send this guitar back because of the blemishes in the neck and the color was wrong, but I could have been ok with the color. I think the blemishes in the neck of this guitar I received was over looked at the factory. I own a 1973 U.S. strat,a1983 U.S. and a 2009 U.S. strat.and a 2011,814ce Taylor.None of these the issues like that.

After calling customer service, who were very nice,I sent the guitar back(prepaid!) and am awaiting the arrival of my new American Deluxe Telecaster.
I bought the fender deluxe telecaster guitar because of the compound radius neck and the other up grades-s1switch and the n1 pickups.I also loved the color and the ash body gives it a better sound. This is a great playing guitar. I love the sound.

            .
I received my purchase in a timely manor and was very excited, but when I opened it, I noticed it was about two shades darker than the picture on the website. After close examination,I seen 4-5 blemishes on the neck. Although the guitar played very good write out of the box(after being tuned) I could not deal with the blemishes.Even though the color was darker than shown,I could get used to that.I called customer service and they were very nice and helpful and paid for the return charges. I am currently awaiting the delivery of my new Tele. guitar.
I am giving this guitar only a 7 because of the blemishes on the neck and head stock. I looked at two others and seen none. Factory defect.Other than the blemishes it was great.
The price was good, but because of the blemishes, I could only give it a 7.

            What a wonderful guitar

            By AlexSeverinetsJazz

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

I just got it previous week. Was eyeing on that guitar for some time, but could not get it since was not satisfied with previous models. However, with 2010 they really improved the design. The thing that I really like is a compound radius. I can get action on it that low without any buzz that it is scary. You can get even lower than that, but than you?ll never feel the strings. Ash body, maple neck is perfect combination for my taste of the sound. Those noiseless pick-ups are really good. In short, my recommendation is if the money is not a question I would highly recommend. It is pricey, but worth every penny spent. I like this guitar very much. Folks at Fender, you rock!!!

            The Sound of Beauty!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

The Fender American Deluxe Tele is the best guitar I have in my collection! Not only is it easy to play, but it is the quietest Tele out there. The N3 pick-ups sound smooth as silk, and the neck IS smooth as silk! It has that great Tele blues twang, but at the flick of button, rockin' out is possible! I have finally found a guitar that I will never part ways with!

            #1-THIS IS THE ONE

            By karmisson

            from Auburn, PA

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Ash Electric Guitar:

This is the most versatile, best sounding, easy to play, beautiful, eye-catching, proud-to-own, fun, enjoyable guitar I've ever owned. I always loved Telecasters and I also own a Mexican, but this one is the cream of the crop. When I was looking at guitars, I was torn between this model and the 52 R.I., but I chose this one for the updated tuners and S-1. You can use this guitar in any style: Country, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Metal..anything. The tones are in this guitar and make any guitarist sound 100 times better. I use this guitar in my rock band and on Sunday mornings I use it in my church praise team. Do not wait and buy this now-you will not regret it.
