A modernized Telecaster for the 21st century!Fenderâ„¢s American Deluxe Telecaster features an improved compound-radius fretboard for smooth bends all along the neck. Staggered locking tuners provide stable tuning for those behind-the-nut bends. Improved N3 noiseless pickups produce shimmering Telecaster tones without the hum. Other high points include S-1 switching for a huge variety of switching options, bound-top body with belly cut and beveled neck heel, and chrome brass saddles for the bridge. Also included is a new molded SKB case with TSA locks, made exclusively for Fender. Fender N3 Noiseless pickups N3 Noiseless pickups offer the best of vintage and modern tones, because they provide that characteristic Fender sound and response without the annoying single-coil hum. Utilizing an innovative stacked coil design, they are voiced for each Tele pickup position, with the insulated metal core of each type differing in materials and construction for improved tone, with an Alnico 5 magnet for the bridge pickup, an Alnico 2 for the middle pickup, and an Alnico 3 in the neck position. I have had this guitar for well over two years now and have gigged it more times than i can remember (at least 200 plus). Mine is maple neck and Tungsten colour. The build is top drawer, frets are spotless and compound radius is great feature. I can honestly say its the best guitar I have ever owned, I use it all the time and still looks new.

I was always a stratocaster player before I bought this, while I still like Strats alot, this is my best guitar and favourite guitar, which is ALOT (20+ Strats, 10+ Tele's, Gibsons les pauls +20, PRS, Ibanez etc.

Its been well used and thrown about vans, venues, rehearsal rooms and planes. It has never let me down and with the amought of tones avaliable it handles most music styles, I play in a function band 3 times a week so need a guitar to cover most styles. Great for Rock, Blues, Funk, pop, country, folk, etc. You also get a really nice Jazz tone from the neck pickup with the tone control turned down 3/4 way. I think the neck pickup is def strat sounding with tone down slighty but the bridge just twangs like a great Tele should. Middle setting is great for funk and general rhythm type playing. When I need a big tone with lots of gain for rock I pop in the S1 botton and it does a heavier sound really well with plenty bass (I use it with classic rock sounds alot)
I would say mess around with the tone control, something alot of players dont bother with, but it really can make the guitar have a great deal of usefull tones. I found the case a bit dissappointing, same as the one the standard come with but besides that, worth every penny. It NEVER goes out of tune, mine is set up with 11's.

I had to send mine back. Beautiful color , which highly resembles the pearl white color on high end vehicles. The one I got had issues with the paint not adhering to the guitar body near the neck pocket. The paint around the binding was a little bit messed up as well.
These guitars sound great. It's too bad that Fender doesn't have better quality control.

Great Versatile Guitar!

By Joe Kranz

from Wake Forest, NC

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The American Deluxe Telecaster is a great guitar, and extremely versatile! I had always wanted a tele since I started playing guitar at age 8. When I had pooled enough funds for my "dream guitar" this one seemed to be the best choice! Mine has the 3-tone sunburst finish with a maple neck and I LOVE it! I'm always getting compliments on how pretty my guitar is! I usually play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp.
The neck pickup is great for bluesy/warm/Clapton type tones, if you want a nice thin tone, mid-way on the selector will get you there no problem. and the bridge pickup is great for solos, and a chicken picker's dream! I generally play with my church band, so there are a good many instruments, but with that bridge pickup, the tele cuts right through the mix! And of course, the S1 system is a MUST! It gives great humbucking type tone for both rhythm and lead.
So in all, if you are looking for a tele, I'd say spend the extra and get this one! my dad had purchased a strat a couple years before I got my tele, and he says if he could do it over, he'd get this tele.
and of course, the best fact: MADE IN USA!!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Well, I've always bought the MIM Teles in the past because I don't use a Tele very often. I'll be playing this one FAR more often because it's the nicest Fender guitar I've ever played! Right from the start, I opened the case and was awestruck by the build quality and appearance of this guitar. I have the Aged Cherry Burst with Maple neck, all I can say is WOW! The N3 pickups are much nicer in the Tele, I didn't care for them all that much in the Strat. The S1 functionality is quite usable on this guitar. Yeah, it's not a cheap guitar. But, if you are serious about tone and quality, this is it in spades! Love this guitar, zero complaints at all! Get yours and see what I mean!

Everything I hoped for and more

    By Trish Woodruff

    from Blanco, TX

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I told myself a long time ago I would never purchase a mail order guitar, too risky. I have been nothing but pleased with every aspect of this experience. The guitar itself is excellent regarding setup, intonation and playability. The alder body, color and finish are first rate. This is my first Telecaster and I am very happy with the extremely bright tone. I was alittle worried that it would sound thin with the single coil pickups, but with the right amp settings I believe this guitar could even pull off metal style playing. Overall I am exstatic with the looks and sound of this instrument. Fender did a great job!
The chrome plated brass bridge saddles, S1 switching system, strap locks, and the finish applied to the body are some of the best features associated with this Tele.
Upon close inspection regarding the wood grain of the alder body, the straight grain maple neck, dressing and polishing of the frets, and the manner in which the finish was applied is top notch. Every detail concerning the assembly and fit is very meticulously done. The alder body is absolutely gorgeous.
This is one high dollar guitar, it's shame you have to spend this much money to get this kind attention to detail and reasonably good materials. I own several high end instruments (PRS Custom 22 Artist model) and you would think for a high price, Fender would have at least sprung for an Ash body.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for several years and would never part with it. In my small recording studio I have more than 10 that were higher in price than this one. Even so, none of them can replace the sound and looks that comes from this Telecaster. If you place the pick up switch in the middle, then push the button in the middle of the volume knob. This Tele will hang in there with heavy medal if this is your cup of tea. The same can be said when playing country, classic rock, country, or anything else. These quiet pick ups are able to play any sound you wish, and the neck is a pleasue to play on. The finish is beyond my vocabulary, and among the best. This guitar has gone up in price a few hundred dollars since I purchased it. You should take note to this, and make a purchase before it goes up again.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought my first Telecaster 40 years ago. It's a '72 Thinline with humbuckers. I've played and played it and worn it down a little but it's still a great guitar. But because of its age I've been looking for another guitar and had tried so many different brands and styles but there was always something I didn't like about the others. So yesterday I tried a Deluxe American Telecaster with the Cherry sunburst and maple neck and played it. I couldn't believe how good it sounded and how great the neck played. One hour later I bought it. The "Fender Telecaster" logo is in silver on the headstock - pretty nice looking. I also like the Made in USA on the back of the headstock. The finish and hardware are outstanding. I really like the locking tuners and I'm still messing around with the S1 switch. I think I like it because it sounds more like my humbuckers when kicked on. The case that it comes with is real nice and heavy duty but not too heavy with weight. I would recommend this to anyone. I probably won't get to play this one for 40 years, but I have three sons who play and I'm sure they'll want to play this one for years to come.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar was my first "real" guitar. I got it as a gift and was totally blown away. Any tone is possible with this guitar - from country to metal. The neck of this instrument is like butter, and very easy to play. Every piece of this guitar is top notch, the finish is mind boggling. If you are a serious guitarist and do not have this instrument... you are missing out.

        Fender American Deluxe Telecaster

        By John Janigan-Mills

        from Nova Scotia, Canada

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar just BLEW me away! When I think of Telecaster's, I think of a country-exclusive guitar. When I picked this up, all my assumption's where laid to rest. This guitar suits ANY genre! Fast or slow! Hard or soft! I've gotten more tones out of this then a Stratocaster!I've used this ax for playing along with bands like: Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, RUSH, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Megadeth, Audioslave, Steely Dan and many other's, and it fit's the music PERFECTLY.It has a beautiful BRAZILIAN Rosewood Fretboard, and the paint-job is spot on!The locking tuner's would probably be useless to most people who use this guitar (Seeing they stay in Standard), but for me? They are a god sent! I like to screw around with tunings... A LOT. So tuning each string once is SO much nicer then it was on my old guitar (Ibanez SA260, which I still have). You can easily drop each string on this one, and you'll only have to touch each tuner, like, twice. With the Ibanez, it took FOREVER to go from Standard to Open C.BOTTOM LINE:Buy this guitar!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The Fender American Deluxe Telecaster is one of the most presitgious guitars that Fender has released on the market. This guitar is very versatile in terms of tonal variety. I can literally play rock to some blues, then switch over to metal. The harmonics on these pickups sound amazing. I have the 2009 model so I have Samarium Cobalt Noiseless 2 pickups. I don't have locking tuners either but this thing will stay in tune after a whole lot of bending. I am completely satisfied due to it's features such as the pickups, the S-1 Switching control, the albalone inlays (on the rosewoods) and the finger rolled edges. Amazing buy! I run this guitar through a Marshall MA100H Stack and I've got to say, this is amazing!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have now had a week to play this guitar and WOW! The feel is fantastic. As I mentioned in my prior review the action was to low and I was experiencing fret buzz out of the box. I had my local shop put a pair of 10's on the guitar and they adjusted the string height. WOW! There is a noticable difference between this guitar and my 2011 American Standard Tele (which is nice as well). The compound radius neck is outstanding. The pick-ups are mellow compared to the standard, but it is nice to have a different sounding guitar in the collection. I am now looking to trade in one of my American Standard Strat's for a deluxe version. Well worth the extra money.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The new N3 pups are very creamy and make this guitar scream. I sure don't know who started the rumor about Telecasters being primarily for country music but they were obviously unaware that electric guitars are supposed to be played through amps. They were also unaware that both the guitar and the amp have nobs for modifying the sound. Well anyway, this baby can "twang" or it can "growl" and it also has a beautiful "clean" tone that is reminiscent of fine crystal. I wouldn't call this a death metal guitar, but then again I personally wouldn't call death metal music. Just my opinion. The quality on this guitar is among Fender's finest. Mine has the maple neck and it is as smooth as velvet. The frets are dressed beautifully and the guitar itself is built to last. The remade S1 switch is more subtle than on previous models and I actually prefer it on - before I preferred it off.If you've never played a Telecaster before, you don't know what you're missing. And if you have, you're going to want this one for your very own. It's a winner, hands down.

I just got my aged cherry sunburst American deluxe tele last week and I am awed, and amazed at the range of tones it has! This guitar is hands down the best guitar I have ever touched in my 20+ years of professional work. I own several telecasters from several time ages and the new deluxe is hands down the sweetest of them all!! I would walk through a pile of les-pauls to get to one of these telecaster's! If you are gonna pay for an amercian made iconic guitar I suggest you choose Fender!! I never seen the greats like hendrix, clapton, gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and others use anything but Fender products!! So I believe part of their greatness show's what you play if you really are a soul toner!!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is certainly Fender's smoothest rendition of the Telecaster! This may not be the Tele that the Telecaster purest prefers because of it's refinements. However, for those of us who play Telecasters as well as other guitars, the new Telecaster deluxe with it's many upgrades is a welcome addition to it's namesake!

This American Deluxe Tele is a bargain. It is in a class with custom guitars in the high price range. Sound is stunning and easy to play with compound radius neck and contoured body. Rosewood neck is fast and N3 pickups are quiet. the no-load tone control makes an audible difference in sound. the locking tuning machines are practical and great -- i can change strings in a jiffy with no slip and little retuning. the white binding is attractive and practical and my cherry burst finish is beautiful. i used the strap they included and the strap-locks (although i did not receive the promised polishing cloth).
i was prepared to spend more money but this is all the guitar i will ever need.
if you are a tele fan, you will love this guitar.

I already have 2 Strats. I bought a 72 re-issue Tele with Humbuckers...Hated it, gave it to my son. I thought I would try one more time for a Tele. I bought this American Deluxe Tele, and it is beautiful and sounds like a Tele. I guess I like the sound of the single coils. I was raised on Buddy Holly! I am not a Fender Snob! I have 3 Gibsons (that I don't play), and 3 Martins (Long live Martin), and a Guild G45 Hank Willims Jr. I do Love this Fender.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have owned Stratocasters the majority of my playing career. I first purchased an American Standard Tele last year and love it. It sounds amazing. It sounded so good I wanted an American Deluxe Tele. Mine just came in from my local music store. What a beutiful guitar. The action needs a bit of adjustment (to low) and has a bit of fret buzz. Other than that it has an amazing finish (Olympic Pearl) and a fantastic neck (rosewood). I will use it at rehearsal next week and at our upcoming show next weekend and I can't wait. I would of given it 5 stars, but for as much as they are charging for these guitars the action could have been set up correctly.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I got this Deluxe Tele few days ago. It´s a 2011 year model, aged Cherry Sunburst with maple fretboard.
This one is about to be among the best guitars
I´ve owned/played. I already owned an American Standard Tele ´95 with exceptional shielding that was some of the few Fenders that run the edge with this Deluxe. I also got Jeff Beck Signature, Strat Plus Deluxe and American Standard Stratos that were beaten by this axe.
The N3 Noiseless pichups really steals bite and high end, so if you want a true vintage twang tone you should look for another pickup. But if won´t be playing real Country Music the N3 will make their job. Mainly if you need a wide range of tones. Very control sensitive.
S-1 Switching is a nice feature making the middle position even fatter, coming close to a true Humbucker but keeping the Tele feeling.
In overall this Tele keeps the tuning for a long time, thanks to locking tuners. Confortable handling and awesome looking. Has a modern playing, so, vintage lovers, stay away!
