I considered a vast array of guitars before picking up the HSS (Jackson, Ibanez, Gibson, etc). Although I did not originally plan on a Fender, I could not be happier with my purchase. Most impressive is the vast array of sounds you get out of the pickups and S1. You may get better sounds for a particular style out of a different axe, but this thing can nail so many sounds for just about any type of music. I wanted to get a Strat in the past but I do play some rock/metal and the HSS is perfect for the added versitility. You get some classic strat sound but also get the humbucker for lead and sounds than a standard strat won't give you. Overall an A+ here.I must say I love the neck on this thing. It is so smooth and action and feel is perfect. I've played many guitars and for the price this thing is very impressive. The American version is so far superior to the Mexican Strats I would say spring the extra money. You won't regret it. I originally got this thing for the Fender sound, but man, this thing is smooth like butter in your hands. I have had many guitars in the past in all the years I've played and I must say I love playing this thing and once I start I don't want to put it down.I would have liked to see more color options on this guitar. One particular color did not stick out for me. I ended up with silver / rosewood and it has actually grown on me. I really wanted maple fretboard as I've heard sound dynamics on this are better (not sure how true this is or how much difference?). But overall I liked the look of rosewood with this one. Overall I would give two huge thumbs up on this one! Fender hit a homerun on this one.

One thing I need to say. Just because the is an american made guitar, doesn't mean its going to to be perfect. I got this guitar, really excited to play, picked it up, tuned it. But something was way off. On the high E string, the 12 fret makes the pitch thats supposed to be coming from the 11 fret. (I think this problem has a name but I can't remember) Its like this for the bottom 3 stringed. I had a friend look at it before taking it in. He said that no matter how much he adjusted the bridge, the string would still be flat. He said the reason was probably that the bridge needed to be readjusted completely. But one problem. It can't adjusted any further. I spent dollars on this and now I'm being told that its worthless. Big problems with the bridge. MAKE SURE YOU PLAY THE ONE YOUR GOING TO BUY. Its going back this weekend. I'm going to go with the gibson LP studio.

The neck on these guitars, maple is a one piece wonder . Comfortable and easy to play. Beautiful finish, S-1 swich gives options. Unbeatable value and American made. One of the best guitars out there for the money. Nice tuners, bone nut. The works. Bridge tone control is good too.
This is a really nice guitar. I have the Sienna Sunburst and it's stunning. The sound of ash is really nice based on this. Versatility is a really cool feature. The S-1 and the humbucker come in handy from time to time. The neck is smooth and it's got just the right thickness.BUT there's on complaint. My new 07 guitar doesn't stay in tune long enough. I'm counting on that it will stay better when the guitar gets older.
I bought one for its finish (sienna sunburst), the neck and the versatility. Classic Strat tones with the option of coil splitting. Options!
This is a great handling, beautiful guitar, made to live up to Fender's renowned reputation. The S-1 switching offers 3 more awesome tones. Its thick body allows the notes to ring out longer than my beginning guitar--a Squier. I believe I have found the guitar I will play for the rest of my life in this guitar.
This is a great guitar I you want to cover many sounds without losing sight that you are buying a guitar to play guitar. This guitar can probably eliminate some other guitars in your collection. Or, if you want to start a collection, buy this one first and save some money. With the right amp(s) this guitar will help pull off endless sustain. You won?t get bored challenging this one.
This is the year of the Strat. With the 50th Deluxe (which I own 2 of) and now this American HSS in sienna sunburst, man this is one year I'll never forget, and neither will my bank account LOL! In the end it'll all be worth it due to the sheer collector's value these axes will have later on (yes this one has the special 50th neck plate, too). But, first and foremost I'm a player, and this is a player's axe. I've never heard tone like this before, even on the 50th deluxe. You simply must try the middle setting on the 5-way with the S-1 pushed in; this activates ALL pickups on this guitar. Coupled with both tone knobs on 4 and a tube overdrive, and we're talkin' milk baby! Pure cream from the gods! On traditional Strats I've always liked the bell-like tones that the neck pickups give and the raw pinch-harmonic raunch that the bridge pickups can put out. This Strat on these settings can do both at the same time! I've been covering EJ's Cliffs in my band for over 10 years now and it's never sounded better. Stunned is what I am.
I got this guitar about a year ago, when I decided I need a "real" guitar (I had a squeir at the time). When I played this guitar, I was amazed at all the different sounds it could produce! With the S-1 switching, any pickup combination is possible. It is also a very easy guitar to play. The neck of the guitar fits my hands perfectly like a glove. For anyone out there who want a versatile axe at a decent price, this is the one!
After using a quite unsatifying Squier Strat... I decided to take it to the next level and gt a real Strat. Since buying it, I've improved dramatically... Ive realised it was also a part of the sound quality and not just my playing that was important here and sound is what this baby has. The tex-mexes are so rich and mellow... I have no complaints... with the diamondback... it's fine and is great for the solos. AS for the finish, its just perfect... this is why you pay this much for it... it wont break down on you. The neck is comfortable as heaven and I recommend the maple board for ground resonance and feel. So listen to me... Go out there and buy this baby.
just went for guitar shoping today. i was looking for a 50th anniversary model but they all sold out. All that is left is this baby, an ash sienna sunburst HSS strat. So beautiful. No flaw in the finish and the construction is solid. I wasn't actually looking for something with a humbucker but notice that it adds the weight and intensity to the already-good standard tone.Give this guitar a chance, you wouldn't regret it.
First of all, its American... it makes the others look like a toy. The diamondback is beautiful in its sustain and the tex-mex is very versatile. And you gotta love the S-1 system. But one striking thing is the finish... its perfect... the neck feels great and the polish is like a mirror. And the baby also stays in tune very well.
