OVERVIEW

Tradition redesigned.

The American Standard Stratocaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar with Rosewood Fingerboard is the same great best-selling, go-to guitar it has always been, and now it's upgraded with aged plastic parts and full-sounding Fender Custom Shop Fat '50s pickups. The latest iteration of our time-honored classic, it is the very essence of Strat tone and remains a beauty to see, hear and feel.

The American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Rosewood Fingerboard is a Fender icon. It's a beauty to behold in sound, look and feel. Features include hand-rolled fingerboard edges, Custom Shop Fat '50s pickups, staggered tuners, improved bridge with bent steel saddles and copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain, tinted neck, high-gloss maple or rosewood fretboard, satin neck back for smooth playability, thin-finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, and Fender Tolex case.

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I play at open mics and jam sessions. I've played about 16 years total = 10 in my youth and the past ~6 years after ~a 20 year break. I play mostly pure blues. This is a very nice guitar right out of the box. I've made no adjustments at the bridge and the intonation is very good as is. I did tweak the truss rod very slightly the first day and it has been stable since. I will add a little graphite at the nut slots when I change the strings, and the tuning stability should improve although it already stays in tune really well (note: I'm not an extreme whammy bar user yet).
To me, the only glitch with this thing is that I will have to rewire the POTs. I had seen this on Fender products in the past. It seems someone at Fender decided that POTs on left handed instruments need to be wired backwards to give the same relative perceived turn direction as that experienced by a right handed player. I've not fiddled around with the right-handed units enough to know if they were successful of not, but...
    1) they still use right handed knobs, so the rotation for louder & quieter contradicts the numbers on the knobs.
    2) more importantly, these are audio taper POTs -- that's good, but an audio taper POT wired backwards is actually way worse that a linear taper POT. As is, almost the whole usable range of the POTs are in the first 1/8 turn.
I'm not a pro musician, but I am an engineer -- Fender needs to give this a little more thought. I would rather the full sweep of the knob be usable, and have the numbers on the knobs match what I'm doing.
I'm not sure if lefty Gibson fans run into this or not.

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I've owned several Strats over the years and never "bonded" with any of them for one reason or another, so they were all eventually sold or traded in. This particular iteration of the Strat has it all- great feel, great pickups, the right weight, great finish, excellent playability. The only negative I'll offer is that the lefty models do not have the tone control wired to the bridge pickup like the right handed models. But, that small niggle aside, a great value in an American made instrument. I feel like this one will be around for a long time.
