The best of yesterday and today in one amazing Tele.

The Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar is a pro player's axe that delivers authentic Tele vibe. American Series pickups and deluxe hardware with original '52 ash or alder body dimensions deliver more resonance and tone. The maple neck has a modern C shape with rolled edges and highly finished frets for easier playability. The detailed nut eliminates rattles and improves tuning stability. Custom staggered tuning machines eliminate the need for one of the string trees. Staggered pole pieces in the pickups provide balanced output across all strings and especially improves tone for the G-string.

The return of the American Standard Series Telecaster continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Telecaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors—mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments legendary in the first place. Improvements include redesigned bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still there are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, Alnico V pickups, and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! So make history with the redesigned American Standard!

    American Standard Tele® Bridge
Gives sought-after tone with modern improvements (6-saddle adjustability, no ashtray edges). Redesigned plate features a classic styled Fender stamp on chrome-plated brass. Brass and steel are the secrets to the Tele sound!

    Bridge Component Specifics:

American Standard saddles - The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo'. Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), and also elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, while improving the string break angle over the primary contact point.

    Bridge plate

The combination of steel saddles with a brass plate harks back to the magic combination of the most sought-after vintage Tele guitars (which had steel plate/brass saddles). The plate also features two extra mounting screws to improve resonance and body contact (as well as eliminating 'squeals'), and a stylized Fender logo to class up the instrument and nod to the design of '60s era Fenders (like Jaguar and Mustang bridges).

    Neck Gloss and Tint

Seemingly a small or less important feature, this is a major feature. The old necks were satin all over primarily for the feel of the back of the neck. On these American Standards Fender kept the satin neck back, but still gave the rich tint and luster of a gloss finish to the fretboard. When looking at the old and new side by side in comparison, there is no arguing that these necks look classier and more detailed and 'finished'.

    Thinner Body Undercoat

An undercoat serves to give the paint a smooth surface to adhere to so you have a nice looking finish. The thicker the undercoat, the more glass-like the finish, but the more constricted the guitar's body wood, which could affect tone. Fender switched to an undercoat that is thinner, and that allows the body to flex and resonate more, while retaining the cosmetic advantages of an undercoat.

    Fender SKB Case

The case is a true advancement in guitar presentation and protection. It is stackable, it balances perfectly, it is TSA-lock-equipped, and has glass reinforced nylon trigger latches and a killer form-fitted plush interior.

I got the natural-finish model with the maple fretboard. I've owned many Teles over the years, and even had one exactly like this about 2 years ago, but I swear this one is even better. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to get one with an ash body. I've owned both ash and alder, and the ash seems to be more twangy and snappy than the alder. The ash body also seems to be lighter in weight than the alder. It's a great guitar for everything from classic Bakersfield-style twang to classic rock, and even jazz, on the neck pickup. An incredibly versatile guitar for such a simple design!
Pretty plain, but you don't buy a Tele for the bells and whistles.
Fender's quality is top-notch, at least for their American-made instruments. I could not find a single flaw on this guitar. The finish, frets, pickups, hardware, everything is great. I also like the case better than the ones Fender had in the past.
Compared to other American-made guitars, you cannot find a better value. An American-made, ash-bodied guitar for this price? Yeah, it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Very good instrument. The quality is in the look, feel, and sound of the guitar. the neck feels slightly smaller than my other tele. The glossed maple fingerboard is a nice touch. I got the blizzard pearl finnish and its way better than it looks on the mf website. This instrument is capable of infinite tones. Its definitley not just for country players!

Comments about Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I could not afford one in the 60's, so I finally bought one at age 61. It is a precision machine, very nice to look at, and plays as easy as talking to a friend. It sounds different than my 1990 Strat Plus Deluxe, but it is supposed to. I am completely pleased with the guitar. I should have bought one in the 60's!

American Standard Tele Fender - Natural Finsih

Comments about Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Great solid guitar. Exactly what you'd expect from a Tele.
Slick neck, smooth action. A must for any blues electric, country style playing.
The top 4 saddles are a bit cock-eyed, but doesn't impact the play. Probably minor adjustments at the factory to get the right tone.
Fair pricing for a guitar you can play anywhere any time. I wouldn't waste money on a Mexican Tele when you can have one of these.

              Fender American Standard Telecaster

              By thomas holub

              from New York

Comments about Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Great guitar. Excellent components used in building the instrument. The only con I have is that Fender did no clean up the instrument (finger marks, smudges) as well as I would of expected when the guitar arrived. Love it.
The features are few but the functionality is easily accessible from the players hands.
Very impressed with the construction of the guitar. Everything was aligned perfectly and looks very high quality. Action is low and playing at the top of the fretboard is a breeze and with no buzz. The setup from the factory was great. Did not need to change a thing.
I feel very content with my decision to buy the instrument. The guitar can be used for many different types of music. I would purchase this Tele again if I ever lost the instrument.

breaking through to the upper crust...

              By Megan Kichler

              from Louisiana

Comments about Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is without a doubt, the finest instrument i have ever owned. I have owned may guitars in the $500 to $800 range. Just wrapping your fingers around the neck, you can feel the difference in quality. The action right out of the box is fantastic, Finish looks great, though i'd like to see the ash model, (mine is alder). The base tone of this guitar on my admittedly shoddy little combo amp that i'm forced to use for the time being blows away all other guitars i've ever owned. My wife who is definitely no gear head, said "holy cow, it sounds really good. I wanna be mad about you spending that much money, but it sounds really really good." Darn right!
              Good job fender! Thanks MF!

              Fender American Standard Telecaster

              By BG-5gMVn

              from California

Comments about Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The guitar is beautifully made, is easy to play, and has a great voice. The case, unfortunately, is terrible.
This is a wonderful guitar. I am knocking the features rating due to the molded plastic case Fender supplies with it. If you plan to gig or travel with this guitar buy a different case. Fender's plastic case has an aluminum band that is exposed inside the case. If your case is dropped or bumped you can incur serious damage to the guitar as I have. I have ordered a different case after seeing my guitar get damaged inside the factory case.
I love the way this guitar is made. It is the most stable guitar I have for staying in tune, and the tone through a Twin Reverb is just amazing. The guitar can be really shrill if the treble is boosted, but roll off the treble a little ant it sings.
If you could have only one electric guitar, this could be it. It stays in tune far better than the Gibsons I own, and it is easy to dial in a good sound quickly. Don't expect it to sound like a hollow-body electric, but the neck pickup has a decent sound. The bridge pickup is the heart of this guitar.
