    The very essence of vintage.

This Left-Handed Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar is true to the original with a premium ash body, a "U"-shaped maple neck, and a 7-1/4" fingerboard radius. As one of the longest-running production models in history, the strength of the Tele guitar lies in its inherent simplicity. It's been modified only slightly in its 40+-year tenure. This American Vintage model features the original Tele circuit with its 3-position switch (update wiring kit is included), original-style 3-saddle brass bridge (a vintage 6-saddle bridge is included) and the ashtray cover. Also true to the original '52 Telecaster, it has a single-ply black pickguard, master volume tone controls, and chrome hardware.

    Features
    • American Vintage '52 Telecaster
    • Left-handed construction
    • Premium ash body
    • Maple neck with "U" shape and nitro-cellulose lacquer finish
    • Maple fingerboard with 7-1/4" radius
    • 21 vintage-style frets
    • 2 American Vintage Tele single-coil pickups
    • Master volume, master tone controls
    • 3-position pickup switch
    • Original vintage-style Tele bridge with 3 saddles and ash tray cover (vintage 6-saddle bridge also included)
    • Vintage-style tuning machines
    • Chrome hardware
    • Butterscotch blonde finish

I just got a used one. The previous owner installed the modern wiring kit, saving me the trouble. It's still got the three saddle bridge on it, which I'll probably leave on there for extra twang. This thing sounds phenomenal, with a more pronounced growl than my American Standard Tele. The finish on the fretboard is a little sticky, but that's par for the course with Nitrocellulose laquer. I live in a dry climate, so it won't affect my playing much. It feels great. I like the fat neck just fine. It's a nice contrast to the sleek C-shaped neck of my AVRI '62 Strat. This guitar is for more than just vintage buffs. It's a great sounding and feeling axe, and certainly the coolest lefty Tele you can get readily in the USA.

They obviously have no lefty luthiers or setup techs at Fender. Over the last 35 years I have owned four strats and this model tele. All were lefty guitars, a premium was paid for all of them, and I can honesly say that without the hours of setup work , and in some cases this included fret levelling and redressing, these guitars would have remained sub par. Once they are reworked they are top notch, but this is not acceptable with a product of this price level. I make my living with these instruments and I do not think it fair that my right handed peers have so little to sweat when it comes to their tools.

    When The Time Comes!

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I've been playing Strats for almost half of my musical life and often played telecasters in various music stores, I always thought they were too simple for my style but as my playing styles matured, so too did my yearning for a Tele. Such a beautiful guitar how could I not have noticed sooner?

    Finally!

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I've owned 2 of these prior to this one. One was orange and heavy as hell, the other one a more horrible orange color and heavy as hell!. I liked the playability of this model but couldn't get past those shortcomings. That was a few years back and so I took a chance and got this one and WOW! Fender has really gotten these right! Butterscotch, and I mean butterscotch in color, lightweight, fit and finish flawless. The real Tele sound and color at half the Custom Shop price. I am thrilled!

    The way they were?

    By Joe-F_38k

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

Pickup selector knob came off at the music store as I was giving it a try.( salesman will confirm). Fender decal started to peel off within weeks of ownership.(bought as a collector piece, hardly played.)What can I say? Same quality as original 52's? Seem's like lots of cash for bragging rights. I guess I expected a little more.

    '52 Tele re-issue

    By Lefty Tele

    from Leesburg VA

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I believe this guitar to be one of the best values out there in a professional instrument. It's iconic value is unprecedented. It also is one of the most tonally versatile designs. While not the easiest guitar to play, it certainly will inspire you to become a more honest player. Highly recommended.

    Tele Heaven

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

That distinct tele sound comes through like magic on this guitar. I'm giving it time before I rewire it to the "current day" setup as the third switch is relatively useless until you do. The first switch is "hot" and picks up everything. The second switch can do everything else. And above all, the guitar is absolutely beautiful.Close examination showed no real flaws anywhere on the instrument. Although I would have preferred the guitar delivered set up as the modern day model with the option to revert back to the original 52 style. But whatever.

Sloppy Workmanship on '52 Fender Re-issue

    By Dan-I.HT2

    from Eastern PA

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

The body and finish on the Fender telecaster ?52 reissue left hand is beautiful, but the quality control and workmanship is shoddy. Here is my experience. As I picked up the guitar for the first time, the black plastic knob falls off. A glob or glue was on a fret. It chips off. ? Both very minor things. Playing the guitar, there was big time fret buzz on string 6. It is almost like the action was adjusted for a right handed guitar. After much adjustment (1/8 inch) the action is acceptable. The tone is very sweet. Inspecting the guitar, I see one of the wood screws holding the pick guard is screwed in crooked by about 20-30 degrees from vertical. It looks sloppy. I give Paul from Fender customer relations a call. Let?s just say that after a couple of minutes of discussion and statement that ?I didn?t build that guitar?, you can guess that the conversation did not go well. He said I was free to return the guitar.

    52 tele lefty

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I've had the guitar for two weeks now and it came with everything that was advertised.Fender also Included all of the "care" paperwork for this type of instrument. As it has a laquer finish instead of a polyurethane finish like th 52s. nice quality instrument.Good to see this one available in A left hand version. If your use to Jumbo frets though you'll have to make sure your positioning is good or you'll be buzzing "small frets" As expected buy it while it's around NICE!
