The overall feel of this guitar is great. Sounds just like a Tele should. The neck is so good, I wish I could have this neck on my other 3 Teles. I think it is better made, better sounding, and better looking than the American Standard. Well worth the extra cash.
It's a Telecaster, not much to it, but what's there is all ya need.
Workmanship is beautiful. Stunning looking guitar. I have the sunburst. Feels great. Well made. The binding is awesome.
It's pricey, but I think it's worth it.

One of my favorite all time guitars was the Nashville Tele I had in Candy Apple red. It was mexican made, but it felt like an extension of my hands. I could make it do and sound exactly how I wanted. I hoped to get the same feeling with this AVRI Tele...

This guitar is aesthetically beautiful and to me, sonically disappointing. Granted, it's a Telecaster, so it shouldn't do that much aside from just be a Telecaster. But when you hit this price range, things should blow you away. This doesn't.
The stock 50's style wiring is terrible. The neck pickup sounds like it's in a tunnel. Why anyone would want this sound is beyond me. Once I had it rewired to 60's spec
(per included schematic) it sounded much better. However, I don't think it sounds significantly better than many of the mid-range Tele's.
Personally, I don't like the thin, C-shape neck. I'm used to bigger, fatter necks. This is just a individual preference though.

If you want to buy something that looks amazing, brings nostalgia and will leave it sitting in a stand or a glass case, this is definitely the guitar (I have the burst, it's beautiful). If you want a great player, buy a cheaper Tele and do some customizing.

What Leo fender had in mind.

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

This 1962 replica, which I have in surf green, is a magnificent instrument. It is lightweight, perfectly balanced and so easy to play. I had the switching converted to the conventional Tele 3 way switching so I can engage both pickups in the middle position. What sound! What distinctive twangy tone! I'm sure this is what Leo Fender wanted his Teles to sound like. Strats are great,I have the '62 counterpart, but when I play this Tele, I feel it in my soul. Not inexpensive, but in my opinion superior to the American Deluxe Tele, because of the superior pickups.

Fender American Vintage Series "62 Telecaster

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

Overall, the whole process from when I ordered it to when I received it and looked at it was fantastic. Jordan (the sales rep) was very helpfull with the order.
The guitar came in less then a week and was in brand new condition. The finish is flawless, the neck is straight and I only had to do a minor adjustments on the string height and intonation. I'm very happy with the guitar and MusciansFriend. I ordered from them in the past and never had a problem. I'm sure that that I will order from them in the near future. Also, the rosewood fretboard is dark just the way I like it. It has a different feel to it.
Bobsdurango!
The Quality of the guitar is excellent (5 stars).
I would rate the price that I paid excellent. I lucked out and purchased it when they were running a sale,

Tone to die for.

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

This is the cake for Tele fans. Don't confuse yourself by trying to compare this to a Strat or Gibson, these guitars are aimed at the Tele player who already knows what he is looking for and why. After playing several different Tele models, this one took me to the floor with its round fat tone. Twang and snap from the vintage frets - jumbo fret Teles can't do that (unless you use 9s). Awesome bass response and extremely smooth. The rosewood neck and the vintage pickups are the bomb. Breaks up nicely with overdrive and loves pedals. Silly wiring needs to be redone, to be true to the original 1 position is stripped of the highs, and the middle pos is the neck alone with no combined pickup switch setting. Easy and quick fix (they supply the diagram and necesary cap). Vintage size frets, fretwork, setup and intonation was perfect (as much as the vintage saddles allow). The vintage pickups in this '62 are not noiseless but have a much richer tone than the SCN noiseless pickups in my American Deluxe. If forced to choose I'd keep the '62.

Perfect neck, hand shaped frets, ultimate feel, beauitful look and excellent playability. Installed Fender CNS pickups, 4-way switch (for that humbucker value) and constant volume pot resistor. settings for warm neck, country bridge, duel bell tones and the magnetic reverse humbucker. FINALLY MINE!!!!!!

By telehappy

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

After years of lusting, finally saved enough and now it's mine. Much better than the '52 I used to have - more unique. I'll get the wiring redone to modern specs, but that's quick and easy. Set up perfect out of box/case and awesome - I mean awesome craftsmanship. If you have the money and you're wondering about buying, just do it. You will not be sorry you did. Mine's sunburst, but they look great in all the colors available.

Great guitar!

By Anonymous

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

Nothing beats a USA made Fender guitarGreat tone Sturdy Very well made Maybe you can tell the difference between overpriced vintage Fender guitars and these but I can't Does this instrument cost alot ? Compared to a Violin or Sax of equal quality ? Not really Nothing wrong with changing pickups but the reason the tone and volume seems so different between the neck and bridge is that this is a 1962 vintage type Tele The middle position is the "neck" tone NOT both pickups like a modern Tele The "neck" position is a "bass" tone designed before electric bass was available so that guitarists could play bass lines

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. Raw and unforgiving just as a Tele should be. Plenty of bite on that bridge pu, however, it does need to be re-wired. I bought the 3 color sun burst,...what a classy looking axe!

Real Tele Sound

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

This is my third tele. I gave it a ten for features because it is a reissue true to the original. With that said I want to replace the 3 barrel saddle bridge for a six barrel saddle bridge because the intonation is finicky and it does not keep a tune half as good as my old american deluxe. When it comes to sound and playability it blows away everything! The American Deluxe does not sound half as good as this axe. I do not know how fender makes these custom pickups, but they are the best I have heard. I play it through a blues deluxe reissue and it is the best sound I have ever had. Sounds awesome clean and dirty. The double binding and the mint green pick guard give it a unique, elegant, but simple look.

This thing just exudes vintage vibe and quality

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

Mine's "ocean turquoise," and it's gorgeous. It plays like a dream, too, as it's flawlessly set-up. The tinted nitro neck is fabulous and fast. I love the fact that it came with all the old-skool case candy, including a crummy grey cable and cardboard guitar strap. The only thing I don't like is the so-called "vintage wiring," which makes the up position on the toggle utterly useless, as it has no high end whatsoever. But Fender includes the correct capacitor and a wiring diagram so you can rewire it in "modern" specs. For the price - it's tough to beat.

Turquoise 62 Custom

By Nic-Q95Uy

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

It has the most beautiful, warm tone of any guitar I have played in this price range. Great value for money, and it looks sexy in turquoise. Great clean sound, with that superb Tele 'twang'- perfect for playing funk. Neck is fairly fast, and I had the action lowered a little so it's a breeze to play. The standard US bridge pickup has a little bit of a buzz but nothing that would stop you getting a great sound. Overall a great guitar. with noiseless pickups thing would hold it back.

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

Vintage Fender vibe. This is what Tele's are all about. It chimes. It growls. Blues bends-Pedal Steel bends: it never disappoints. The originals from the '60's were great. The Vintage Reissue does those classics proud. Mine is the surf green with white binding.

Bought this as a backup for my 75 tele, outfitted with a bigsby. Haven't played my no. 1 in a long time. Vaguely remember what color it is. This guitar rocks. Sunburst finish and double cream binding make it fun to look at, too. Thanks, Fender!

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar looks and plays great. If I had a complaint, it would be that the neck pickup is so dark sounding that it is almost useless (the volume jump from the bridge to the neck pickup is ridiculously uneven). I had a Vintage Rhythm Stack installed at the neck pickup and that seemed to make it sing. Great guitar, though, proud to own it.
