this guitar is dream. I am a huge fan of chicken pickin and speed and this works wonders with both. Through the clean channel, the twisted tele single coil makes the tone tele's are famous for, well rounded and smooth. flip to the enforcer and you get a pop and twang to die for. The notes are very defined and precise, especially through the neck pickup. Through distortion the news just gets better. The enforcer delivers tight low end and a supprising kick and pinch harmonics are a peice of cake, but oddly enough the tele pickup can deliver the most articulated high notes youll ever hear in your life perfect for the finger tapper who hates muddy tone. The finish can not be done justice in words. I know that mexican teles are a luck of the draw situation but mine came out great. A satin neck with beautiful figuring in the fingerboard. The headstock odd as it is, is prictical for behind the nut bends. only downside, its tough tpo keep clean. you wont be dissapointed!!

My absolute only complaint about this beautifully bizarre looking guitar is it's weight. No kidding; it's like playing with a Les Paul Studio [but better (although, I suspect that my bias is rooted in that I OWN the J5)].Mass aside, take a look at this thing: I?ve never seen a tele that looks like this and I haven?t seen many of these being used in shows. It plays great and sounds good too.

Fender Telecaster John 5

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

It's an awesome guitar to play. I've always wanted a telecaster with a humbucker but I also wanted the appearance to be exactly the same as the Standard. In most telecasters that I've seen with a humbucker, for some reason, just looks different. The sound is really warm and thick when crunched. And clean sounds very clear. It's a great guitar for any style of music.

Ugliest tele ever

By Phil-V9dI6

This thing is the epitome of ugly. Why does the headstock need to look that deformed? It has a humbucker in the bridge which is absolutely wrong on a tele, and single sided binding, ew. The knobs are too deeply knurled and harsh feeling, and the pickup selector is completely in an inconvenient, wrong location. If you want a telecaster, buy a real one, not this thing... Maybe I'm just a purist, but everything about this is wrong to me.

LOVE THIS GUITAR

By NowhereMan-Im_Jd

from Los Angeles

I own a few guitars - an Ibanez, Les Paul LP Standard, Strat - and time and time again, this is the one I pick up. I bought it here on Musicians Friend without even trying it out (which I've never done with a guitar). It just looks so damn cool. A real head turner to all who enter my music room. Love the action, the tone - it records beautifully and cleanly. I've turned a few friends onto it as well - and we are all very pleased.

Fender J5 Tele

By Pigd1666

from Ohio

I went to the music store last night as was amazed to see that they had a J5 in stock. I picked it up and played. I played through a small Fender Frontman amp, and it sounded like no one else was in the store to me. The neck was different but still comfortable. The headstock actually isn't as big as it looks. Amazing action, very comfortable body, STUNNING looks. I couldn't help but just look at it after I was done playing it. It had a great clean sound. Very light and clear. On the heavier side, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Not muddy at all, still very clear. Great tone all around. Needless to say, I have to have this guitar. Another jewel in the crown of the empire that is the Fender Telecaster.

Sound Great Without Sounding Like John 5

By Decibalpigs!!69

I got this guitar for Christmas, and it is unreal. The neck is super playable, and the action is perfect right out of the box. Some dude at the music store we ordered it through tried to buy it from me before I even got it! The best part is the tonal range. This guitar sounds great for any style of music (except for emo, they should keep their hands off.) It also has great tone without making you sound like the artist it was made for, like some other signature guitars do.

Nice sound!!!

I bought this thing about a week ago. I play industrial metal, like manson and nine inch nails, but I am also picky about my clean channel, and this guitar satisfies even me - the pickiest player ever. I am very happy with the guitar and would recommend it to anyone.

A Different Kind of Tele

By jrambo

from Austin

I've owned this guitar for about a year now. I go back and forth between playing this and my Les Paul. If you're looking for a traditional tele, this obviously isn't it. The guitar sounds great, feels great and plays great. I think it looks pretty cool too. I took a star off of quality because I had to fix the wiring to the pickup selector as the neck pup was cutting out when I got the guitar. That's the only problem I've had, but it shouldn't have come to me like that. For what I want the features are great. This is a nice heavy sounding tele, but if you roll back the volume on the bridge it will clean up nicely and get that twangy of a more traditional looking tele. The neck pup has a real nice bluesy sound to it. Overall this is a great tele if you're someone who loves teles but wants something heavier than what you'd normally get in a tele.

Made in Mexico

By Billy Ray

from Altus, OK

I love this guitar! I play a wide variety of music and it covers them all. The humbucker has a real thick crunch to it when distorted, so don't think this is only good for classic rock, country, and blues......it's good for everything! It is heavy after having it strapped to you for 5 hours. The only dissapointment I had is that it is made in Mexico. They should have put that on this site, so now you know. I had to have it shipped 3 times: the first time was for shipping dammage, second for poor manufacturing, the third time it was perfect! So make sure you look it over when you get it. Musicians Friend is an excellent company and they do what they say they do.....later
