I absolutely love this guitar. I love all things strat actually. They are the only guitars that ever just feel right for me. The only negative I have about most strats are that the narrower necks make it tougher on guys like me with big chunky hands. This neck does not present that problem, and the TS pups just sound great. I don't run a boatload of effects. I just use a good amp and plug it in. You can get a great variety of tones out of it. It is a little heavier than most strats, but I'm a bit over 200 lbs so it's not a problem for me. It does have higher action than most any other strat you will find, so be mindful of that. Overall you can't go wrong just get a pair of .11's or higher and let this sing. You will not find any non custom strat like this period. Just keep in mind you're going to need some finger strength to get stevies sound, with the bigger strings. If you like spaghetti strings, you will want to test it before buying.

Fender Artist series Guitars are a little overated. I own an SRV and thought the tone was good through a Vibro-King(which is by the way the only Fender Product I would give a perfect 10)The problem with the SRV is String Height, and I like action high because I'm a hard Blues player, and don't care for fret buzz. The SRV can only allow, if your lucky, 1/16 inch height on all strings.Too low......... Stevie had Rene set up #1 at the 12th fret...6-5..3/32.....4-1..5/64. I love my SRV, and it fits good in my closet, were it remains as a collector's piece. I own 7 Strats, and love them all! I build custom Guitars, mainly Fender........ Strats...it's cheaper than buying one!!! You can't beat a Strat, no matter who builds it. You just can't beat the tone, and the feel of those necks! The SRV is a sweet Guitar, but over priced, and has some problems. simply put.

great guitar but poor setup

By Serban Dragosloveanu

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

i have this guitar for 3 or 4 years now.everything it`s excellent, sound, good body wood(i striped it to a relic form),aged the pickguard and knobs.my only real problem was with the setup and especially with the neck.the frets need to be polished and leveled,it will not allow you to do heavy bends without fret leveling and high action.light strings will sound too bright,i have equipped it with 012.all my guitars have 010.my personal opinion is that the guitar is really close to custom shop ones and if you have the time or the money do relic it.it will really improve the sound because you will loose the thick polyurethane paint.you can let the inner lair on so it will keep moist away.thanks

Blues & Country

By Chance-F.c5f

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Look if you play country or blues this guitar will give you the correct sound. Next, the neck is very comfortable. If you have done research the neck is described as a thick oval and it is a bit thicker however I play with my thumb over and have no problem (I?m 6 foot tall). Also the trem takes a little getting used to but no big deal.

A Strat Stevie would be proud of

By mmstrat22

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I just recieved my SRV strat for christmas about a week ago, and I absolutely love it. I also love the fact that its an 1989 model, It has already replaced my american series hss as my main strat the neck feels so much better and I love the vintage tuners take about 2 minutes for me torestring it and tune it. The pick ups sound amazing, anyway I think stevie would be proud that his name is on these guitars there playability and sound do him justice

Not what I imagined it would be.

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I tried it out of curiosity to see if it had the SRV mojo. It didn't really impress me at all. The pickups sounded weak and had no real punch to them. Maybe I am just too used to active pickups like on the Clapton strat, but the SRV just didn't do it for me. I think to get a real good sound out of it you need fat strings like SRV had on his strats.

Best of my collection

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar is by far my favorite of all my guitars. I have been able to get so many different sounds from it - blues, surf, rock, jazz. I bought it through a local shop that did a free setup for me at time of purchase. It has become the guitar I compare all others to. Sustain that lasts all day. Beautiful tone, and beautiful to look at. Of course, I'm not crazy about the "cheesy" pickguard, but I don't want to take the chance of messing up the tone by changing anything on it. If you are looking for a great strat do yourself a favor and play one of these.

Flawed Masterpiece

By Ritchie Davemore

from Redlands, California

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought my Fender SRV about a year and a half ago. It was the best money I've ever spent on a guitar, period. The SRV guitar outplayed every other high-end Strat in the store (some much more expensive) in terms of pure, deep bluesy tone. I have small hands and found the neck to require a little getting used to, but the edges are nice and smooth and the finish is like silk. I took it home, switched to elevens, tuned down a half step, and wow. The sound was spooky good; it was as if SRV had handed me his guitar and allowed me to sound foolish next to the master for awhile. I love the fact that the bridge floats a bit; it's great for that extra finish on a bend or a little crazy palm-pinging. The only trouble spot is the frets; mine were a little buzzy on the low E and required leveling, but it wasn't difficult or terribly expensive, and now the guitar plays perfectly. I've heard from luthiers that neck problems are common with Fenders in general, so I'd play it before I bought it, or I'd be sure there was a good refund policy if ordering online. Other than the neck issue (relatively minor for the price), I'd say this is as good a guitar as you can buy at any price. Well done Fender!

Great Strat!

By Daniel-R9M8c

from Portland, Oregon

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have owned my SRV strat for about 4 years now, and I am still as in love with her as the day I took her home. The quality on this guitar is just awesome, Every part of the guitar is just perfect. I especially like the feel of the fat neck. The pups sound sweet and give out great tone. I mostly play blues and classic rock, and this guitar works great for that. The gold hardware really spices the look. To make mine look a little more like Stevie's, I bought a "custom" sticker just like his #1 has right below the bridge. I got it off ebay and that really adds to the look as well. I also did a little personal customization which is very minor, but I changed out my white pickup selector switch tip with a black "top hat" style tip from a tele. I personally like this minor change. Anyways, overall I absolutely love this guitar and I will never sell mine. I will have it until the day I die.

Just Great

By adam vr

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

The SRV is is a great axe for sound tone and good looks alike. Sleek comfortable and the neck truly does feel amazing. If I had a negative comment, a little on the heavy side so get a good wide strap for it for support, but the weight also brings tone so not bad. I feel lucky I bought mine a few months ago, the price has just went up quite a bit, still worth it but wow big tag for a non custom shop, high profile guitar. Thanks to SRV and all the team that went into building this #1

I was lucky enough to get this baby for Christmas. The finish is absolutly beautiful and the neck is amazing. I haven't been playing long but the action on the neck beats any guitar I've played. A must have for any SRV fan
