I just picked up the Blacktop Strat in Sonic Blue w/ rosewood with some Christmas cash. I thought it would bring a nice tonal variety to my collection of single coil and H/S/S strats...This thing will do Tele to Les Paul in under a second! Running it through my '08 Fender Blues Deluxe amp, the Full neck pickup is pure twin-bucker magic--big, beefy, bluesy and thick.. Dropping down to the second position (between the neck and middle) is pure vintage strat--crystal clear and bell like, very SRV/Knopfler.. by adding distortion and rolling up the tone knob to about halfway in the first 2 positions you can also dial up a beautiful Santana-esque lead tone... The middle position (both humbuckers) provides a nice bright jangle with gobs of sustain, perfect for open chord voicings or stinging leads, and the final hum cancelling position is almost Tele-like, with a defined twang that really nails the chicken-pickin' sound. Blues, rock, jazz, funk, fusion, metal, country, pop... whatever style of music you play, this guitar has the vocabulary for it. And at this price your wallet will be happy as well!
A quick note to all you modders: If you're like me and you want to swap out those big ugly skirted amp knobs, be aware that STRAT KNOBS WILL NOT FIT!!! I made this mistake and found out when I got the guitar home. You will need a knob that attatches with a hex! I would up putting knurled Telecaster knobs on my blacktop and they look great. I'd also reccommend checking out Q-Parts custom knobs if youre looking for a more stylish alternative too!
Solid construction.. Neck sits tight in the pocket, hardware was firmly affixed, no loose knobs, tuners, or bridge saddles.
Running the gamut of versatile tones at an affordable price... definitley worth the money

Great guitar for the beginner. Mine is sonic blue, polished maple neck, beautiful guitar. The neck is slim and smooth and absolutely superb. It really is fun to play.
But... the overall build is a bit sloppy. The neck plate is slapped on, crooked. When I popped the backplate off to do the setup, the pocket was rough. The first hole drilled for the spring claw must have stripped because the screw is 1/16" offset and the geometry is off making the tremelo setup almost unmanageable. And NOTHING cures the string buzz. The low E is perpetually out of tune as well.
Pups - nice glassy, chimey single coil tones on a quality amp, humbuckers are muddled and unremarkable.
Overall the guitar is fun to play as I learn how. It's set up with 11s and plays like my acoustic, strengthening my hands. It's a MIM instrument. I'm satisfied for now, until I can justify a US made model.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:
Wow I love this guitar. the neck is fast and easy to manage. It's light and stays in pretty good tune. I switched out the stock pick-ups for some Seymor Duncan Hot Rodded Humbuckers and this thing smokes! I recently put my Fender American Deluxe on Ebay because this MM Model kills it. Best suprise guitar that i've ever purchased. I play in front of about 4000 people on Sundays and have not had one issue with this strat.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:
I picked up this guitar a year ago and it looks and feels the same the day i bought it. I've played 2-3 gigs with this guitar and it has never disapointed. The black on black has an amazing look, and you will not be disapointed if you pick up this guy.
Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:
My friend and I both bought this model together and both love the sonic blue finish with the mint green pick guard. The sounds this model delivers are outstanding. I replaced the tuners with fender locking that drop right in. I replaced the bridge with the full width Mexican standard unit that really improves the sustain and puts the tremolo handle in the right place. The origional thin block forced the arm into the top of the guitar with the trem springs setup per Fender specs. I also upgraded the cheap plastic nut with a tusk unit that really helps the harmonic ring and open string sustain. I own two other deluxe series strats, two American deluxe teles and an American origional factory Parker nitefly. I play the blacktop stratocaster the most.
The 5 way switch and two tone controls together with the hum-buckers deliver tremendous tone and variation. The fit and finish is very good. The 22 fret neck feels great. The tuners are the same as American standards and can be swapped for the locking units from the American deluxe series. The mint green pick guard looks very cool.
The only digs here are the cheep plastic nut and the narrow cast bridge block or inertia block as some call it. The pickups and electronics are top rate. The same cannot be said of the blacktop telecasters I played. Every Strat however sounded great. The tone controls offer a great range of tone adjustment, with one tone control for each pickup. All the screws were tight.
I got one of the first ones the were $50 cheaper than the standard Strat. They seem to have figured out this is a better guitar than the standard and now it is usually at least $50 more than I paid.

I would buy it again. But I already have one. So you should.
It'll all there. I was going to replace the pickups at first but then I decided to keep the stock. It sounds amazing. 5 way switch with two tone knobs allow for a custom distinctive tone. I'm not a fan of the chrome hardware but it was made to last. My current favorite guitar.
the maple neck and alder body provide rich tones. It's well made. But during shipping it does tend to arrive unbalanced. It's an easy fix though. Free Shipping.
these guitars will only go up in value. 550? Deal.
Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:
Very disappointed with the purchase. It sounds like the perfect deal. The ability to get a humbucker sound, Strat profile, and a reasonably priced guitar all in one. If it looks to good to be true...
Purchased this guitar for its ability to play many kinds of music.
After taking the guitar from the package, I noticed that the pickguard was warped. It was raised nearly half and inch between the pickups. After a week, I noticed inlay on the back of the neck had a hairline separation. I gave it two weeks and very much enjoyed playing the guitar. At the end of the second week, I noticed that the separation had grown from about half an inch to six inches down the neck. I immediatley returned the guitar for a full refund and instead purchased a Fender Highway one.
Not much of one. An American made Highway One retail for $100-150 more than this guitar, or a beginner could get an equally well made guitar from squire for several hundred dollars less.

Smooth, well built, my fgavorits guitart that I own. I play this one over the Les Paul I have
Could not be more please with this purchase. I really was amazed at the sound and quality of this guitar right out of the box.
Amazing quality right on the first paly.
Get this guitar you will not be dissappointed.
Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:
The finish is excellent. Came completely setup. The only thing I can fault are the inlays on the finger board, they are painted on.

LOVE the tone of the humbucker..More versatile than traditional strat pickups..They don't have the quack... The finished frets and bridge r rough..u will need to file some edges.. But it plays incredible.. Very tunable... Of course u want it set up..ALWAYS!
