I love mine! For the $$, it really does a solid job. It can fill up a venue nicely. It stays in tune and is constructed well. I would echo what another said about the tuner, it will get you in the ballpark, but I use another that is a bit more precise.

Comments about Fender CD 280SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

MY SITUATION: I wanted a fair-priced, good sounding guitar that I could use as a work-horse for acoustic gigs; one I didn't mind suffering dings and weathering from the salt air at beach area gigs. This Fender is a dreadnought (which I prefer) just like my Martin DM but this one is a cutaway which really makes playing higher up the fretboard easier.

INCENTIVE: I got an incredible deal from Musician's Friend in the summer when I bought this CD-280SCE. Customer Service was great as always.

PROS: It looks great, sounds great, plays great, and it stays in tune. I gigged with it for 3 months with the factory strings that came on it and they sounded pretty good. They eventually sounded lifeless so I just recently put some Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze strings on it and it sounds amazing plugged into my Marshall AS100D acoustic amp! Also, the battery lasts...it's just now getting low after months of playing. The compartment is easily accessable and the battery is easy to change on the fly.

CONS: The built-in tuner works but isn't amazing by any means. I use a BOSS pedal tuner anyway. The screw that holds the strap peg near the neck was not biting anymore after a couple gigs. It was not holding my strap on the guitar so I installed some strap locks and that problem is now solved. Another reviewer said there was a bridge-buzz which I also noticed but once I put new, thicker gauge Elixir strings on it and adjusted the truss rod it went away.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS/CONSIDERATIONS: It doesn't come with a case...I already had a Martin hardshell case which this fits inside perfectly. The Fishman pickup sounds great; I play without a feedback buster sound-hole plug. Build quality is pretty good so far; it's not hand-made in America but the bang-for-the buck factor is there! The pros heavily outweigh the cons on this one...I bought it for much cheaper than the current price, but even at this price I think it is still worth buying.

Skip This one, buy something better.

Comments about Fender CD 280SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This instrument is maybe OK to sit out on your back deck and make some noise with, that's about it. Total waste of money in my case as the guitar sounds horrible plugged in and rattles under the bridge, sorry Fender. I had a Fender acoustic in the 80s and much better than this one.
Standard fare for a cheap budgte line acoustic, etc...
Well, low notes at certain frets cause the bridge or the insides of the guitar to buzz, don't think this was put together too well frankly, sounded Ok for maybe 6 months...and not really worth the time or expense to send it in for warranty work..that is if you would ever get it back. The plugged in sound just sounds boxy compared to my Ovations. High E sounds flat/shrill for some reason when plugged in, does not ring.
For a little more you can pick up a Takamine, or maybe a Taylor, also made in China, but I assume would be a better guitar and would worth repairing. As is, this was a total waste of money fopr me. MF, has great service and much better guitars than this, I'd skip this one unless you want a poor quality instrument frankly.

              Feels like a 1000$ Guitar

Comments about Fender CD 280SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

WOW...thats all I can say for this guitar. I have been playing guitar ever since I was 10 so for the last 9 years and this is one of the best acoustics I have ever played. I bought it the second day it came out. It wasn't great at first (just like any other guitar), but after spending 40 bucks on a new set of elixir nanowebs and setting up the intonation and the tension by a professional, it sounds and feels as good as a Taylor Auditorium or a high end Takamine! And it also looks amazing, the polish gives it a rich look! GO GET THIS GUITAR YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!
